Tues Dec 2, 15. Can the Denver Broncos win the Super Bowl?
For the majority of the season, the Denver Broncos have had their critics. Whether people have been concerned about Peyton Manning's ability to make plays on offense or simply their struggles to move the chains, it would be fair to say that Gary Kubiak's men haven't exactly inspired confidence across the board this year.
In fact, the defense - led by defensive co-ordinator Wade Phillips - have played key roles in almost all of their victories so far this campaign. Statistically, the Broncos may well have the best defense in the NFL and their ability to make plays is perhaps the primary reason as to why Denver are currently 9-2 on the year.
Last year, many expected the Broncos to bounce back from their torrid performance in the 2014 Super Bowl but it simply wasn't to be. Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts strode into Denver and dismantled the Broncos offense - which may have been the start of Manning's inevitable decline.
Having said that, Denver have shown enough talent and quality this season to suggest that they could compete for glory next February and are currently ranked as the third best team in the AFC based on regular season record. At the time of writing, betfair price Denver at 10/1 to win the Super Bowl - an outcome that would secure Manning's second ring and further enhance his legacy as one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

In recent weeks, Manning has been sidelined due to injury and backup Brock Osweiler has stepped in as Denver's starting quarterback. Since getting his opportunity, Osweiler has impressed - leading the franchise to back-to-back victories over the Chicago Bears and the previously undefeated New England Patriots.
While Manning may well get his starting gig back once he returns from injury, Osweiler has shown enough talent to suggest that he could be the man to lead the Broncos in the future. In fact, Osweiler has learnt from one of the best in the business and although the youngster has only played alongside Manning in his twilight years, he will still have picked up some valuable tips from the NFL's all-time leading passer for both touchdowns and yards.
On defense, Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware have been simply sublime this season in the pass rush - one of the main reasons for Denver's stout defensive unit. Both stars haven't stopped putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks all year and that has allowed Chris Harry and Aqib Talib to prosper in the secondary.
In their two defeats against Indianapolis and Kansas City, both sides were able to build momentum with a potent running game - hence neutralising the threat of their star defensive performers. If the Broncos can continue to shine on defense, they will give plenty of opportunities to Osweiler, Manning and their other offensive stars to put points on the board.
If they avoid serious injuries, Denver will stand a great chance. So far, they have been lucky with knocks and niggles but that may not last for the entire campaign. Only time will tell but, if they continue to perform at their current level, the Broncos may go all the way to the Super Bowl this season - and they may even win it.
