The West won the 10th Snow Bowl defeating the East 39 to 28!
The West defeated the East 39 to 28 in a very enjoyable game in lots of snow and in a great setting on Princess Island Park.
Scores in detail.
The West. 6 TD's but we missed all the converts. We had a safety for 2 points and we kicked a single for a total of 39 points.
The East. 4 TD's and 4 converts for a total of 28 points.
The Snowman for the Best Player went to Darwin Gooding the QB for much of the game for the West team. This is now his 2nd Snowman and the 1st time anyone has won 2 Snowmen Awards.
Thanks to everyone that played or helped the 09 Snow Bowl. I was real happy we got 2 full sides of 14+ each. I had no idea who had the stronger team and a few days before the event I had more East guys than West. 09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. 8th up is Lionbacker a BC Lions Legend Fan for the West team!
Lionbacker in a BC Lions jersey and BC Lions leather helmet. I'm encouraging this years Snow Bowlers to wear a crazy hat along with a outrageous CFL style outfit. These leather helmets would look great for the MYKwebTV/TotalCFL TV shows that we are producing at the 09 Snow Bowl.
Lionbacker is very well known in the CFL. I've known Lionbacker since my 1st ever Grey Cups and we played together for the West team in the 05 Snow Bowl. He runs the popular websites Lionbackers.com and 13thman.com. These sites are helping in promote the 09 Snow Bowl. 09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. 7th up is Hoof a Stampeder Legend Fan for the West team!
I'm here interviewing Hoof at the Stampeders training camp.
Hoof is definitly a CFL and Stampeder Legend Fan. He has played in 4 Snow Bowls. I 1st met Hoof at a Stampeders tailgate in 2001. I'm not sure how many Snow Bowls Hoof has played in but I know its several. Hoof has also helped me this year in promoting the Snow Bowl and also an adviser. You can see Hoof in several TotalCFL TV shows including the 1 on 1 interview Click

09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. 6th up is Pigskin Pete a Legend Tiger-Cats Fan for the East team.
Pigskin Pete having fun on the sidelines at a Tiger-Cats game.
Since 2006 Dan “Pigskin Pete” has been the MC and DJ for Tiger Town which is the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Grey Cup Party. Dan was the Ticats mascot Stripes for 3 years and now is Pigskin Pete who is a legend in Hamilton. Pigskin Pete leads the famous “Oskee Wee Wee” chant in front of 30,000 strong at the Tiger-Cats home games along with doing various community appearances. You will see Pigskin Pete donning a bowler hat and often in the cooler months the faux fur coon skin coat. In the warmer months you'll find him wearing the #6 Tiger-Cats jersey as Pigskin Pete has been wearing that # since 1924. Dan is the 4th Pigskin Pete for the Ticats. Pigskin Pete told me today “Myk I can't wait to kick the West’s but in the 10th Snow Bowl. LOL. See u there!” Pigskin Pete
I look forward to seeing Pigskin Pete at Tiger Town and at the 09 Snow Bowl.
09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. 5th up is a 2 time Snow Bowler "Aiatollah of Rye and Cola" a Stampeder Chsmp Fan for the West team!
Aiatollah of Rye and Cola the Big Stampeder horse on the left enjoying a Big cup of beer at a recent Grey Cup party. Next to him is BC Lion Legend Fan 3rd Down who many of you know was badly hurt earlier this year.
I've known "Aiatollah of Rye and Cola" since my 1st Stampeder tailgate party in 2001 and I believe every time I've been to the Stamps tailgate I have seen and had a beer and chat with this Stampeder Legend Fan.
"Myk Aussie I've held season tickets for the Stamps and attend games regularly. I've played in Snow Bowls in Edmonton '02, and Vancouver '99. I would have played in the Regina '03, but it was cancelled due to cold weather if I remember correctly. I definitely want to play again this year for the West." Aiatollah of Rye and Cola.
I believe this is Aiatollah of Rye and Cola in the start of this 02 Grey Cup TV show with his great horse head next to his great Stamps mate Sugarfoot Click

From Sat Nov 21. 09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. 4th up is Al's Joseph for the East team!
Left: Al's Joseph here with Legend Al's QB Anthony Calvillo at the 09 training camp. 2nd from Left: Al's Josph here with Legand Al's Centre Brian Chiu at the 09 training camp. 3rd from Left: Al's Joseph with Al's cheerleaders again at the 09 training camp. Right: Al's Joseph's tattooand a printout of the Alouettes logo.
Al's Joseph is a true CFL Fan Legend in my eyes. I 1st met Joseph at the opening ceremony of the 05 Grey Cup in Vancouver. Al's Joseph then came with a group of us to Moose's Downunder the Aussie Restaurant in Vancouver. He then left and told me he was going to get a tattoo of the Alouettes logo on his arm. I said "Really are you serious? That is awesome." The next time I saw Al's Joseph was that night at the Spirit Of Edmonton party and yep sure enough Al's Joseph was proudly displaying his brand new magnificent tattoo. Al's Joseph contacted me recently about the 09 Grey Cup and has agreed to play in the 09 Snow Bowl East team if he is fit to go. If Al's Joseph can't play he has agreed to help on the day making the event run smoothly. You can see Al's Joseph with two Eskimo cheerleaders proudly displaying his Alouettes logo tattoo on the 05 Grey Cup MYKwebTV/TotalCFL TV show. From Wed Nov 18. 09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. This is awesome! 3rd up is Sean Young "Dirty 30 Jnr" for the West team!
CFL BC Lions Legend Dirty 30, Jim Young. Picture compliments of Sean Young.
Sean contacted me recently after reading about the 09 Snow Bowl on Lionbackers.com. I then found out this.
"Sean, I just found out that your dad is the CFL BC Lions Legend, Jim Young."
"Yes that's true. I'm a Lifelong Lions fan. Grew up at Empire Stadium. Rugby is my sport when I can stay healthy. This will be my 9th Grey Cup." Sean Young
Wow! The West team is shaping up nicely and I have another BC Lion fan playing. I'm hoping Sean is healthy for the 10th Snow Bowl.
From Sun Nov 15. 09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles continued. 2nd up is Adam McGrath "Tigger Jnr" for the East team!
Adam "Tigger Jnr" lives in Hamilton and is a huge Tiger-Cats fan. Tigger Jnr will be playing either Quaterback or Wide Receiver for the East team in the 09 Snow Bowl. The Snow Bowl is all about Diehard CFL Fans having a fun game of footy on Grey Cup Sunday and Tigger Jnr definitly qualifies with what he told me this week. "I follow the CFL like I follow my dog every morning when I walk him I pretty much know everthing their is to know about the CFL and its players. That pretty much rounds it up. Send me some more info when you get it and I'll look for more East people for you." Adam "Tigger Jnr"
From Wed Nov 11. 09 Snow Bowl Player Profiles. 1st up for the West is a 4 time Snow Bowler, Sugarfoot a Legend CFL and Stamps fan!
Sugarfoot beefing up ready for the 09 Snow Bowl. I believe Sugarfoot will be a key Centre or in a QB Rushing position for the West team.
Scott Sugarfoot is a Legend at Stamps games and the long running great Stamps Tailgate Party. Sugarfoot has played in 4 past Snow Bowls in 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2003. He has committed to again playing in 09. Sugarfoot also helped organize the 2000 Snow Bowl that was played in Calgary at Princess Island Park which will again be the location for the 09 Snow Bowl.
I asked Sugarfoot if he wanted me to add anything else and he says "I played DLine/DB in past Snow Bowls and I'm fat, slow and lazy." That's awesome and just what the Snow Bowl is about, any great CFL Fan can play no matter what shape they are in.
Along with seeing Sugarfoot at every Stamps games and tailgate Party you can also see this CFL Stamps Fan Legend on several of my many TotalCFL TV shows including Part 1 of the 09 CFL Grey Cup Preview TV show Click

From Mon Nov 2. The 09 Snow Bowl, the West players are coming along nicely! Pack ya footy boots for Calgary!
I've had some good interest from players wishing to play for the West team. Some good past players and some good newcomers. I'm confident the Bomber Argo, Tiger-Cat and Al's, diehard Legend CFL fans that I know will not let the East down. Please contact me 403 870-5578 or myk@mykaussie.com if you are considering playing in this great and unique game of footy on Grey Cup Sunday.
From Sat Oct 31. The 09 Snow Bowl will played on Grey Cup Sunday in downtown Calgary!
Please email me myk@mykaussie.com or call me on 1 403 870-5578 if you want to be on a 09 Snow Bowl "organizing/promoting type" email. Please also send this webpage to anyone that you know that may be interested in playing in or promoting this event.
After some 2nd doubting thoughts, yesterday I decided to go ahead with organizing the 09 Snow Bowl. After talking with Saskfan in Winnipeg, Hoof and some others this week as well.
I called the Calgary City Council yesterday and they had approved my application for a downtown location same as where the game was played in 2000 and when I said I decided to change the event to Sunday Grey Cup day they were still all OK. I'll pay the City the approx $70 and start planning now. I have to go with my original higher power type feeling/good vibs from several weeks ago that I need to do this as I believe it is a great event and also seeing I'm still based in Calgary.
From the City of Calgary. "Hi Andrew, I am emailing to notify you that your application for a special event November 29, 2009 at Prince’s Island Park has been approved. I've attached a copy of the permit for your reference, and a hard copy will follow in the mail shortly." Lisa
I changed it to Sunday from 12 pm to 1pm+. The Grey Cup game starts at 4.30pm so this time gives people time to get to The Grey Cup. Also there is nothing else much on at this time. Also the "CFL Fans Fight Cancer/13thman" have a Grey Cup Meet and Greet after the Parade on the Saturday. I think Sunday will be good, the same day as The Grey Cup is a nice feeling as well.
I'll start to get players registered etc. This is my main focus now for The Grey Cup. I aim to do a great MYKwebTV/TotalCFL TV show from the event as well. I'll promote the event all during The Grey Cup via flyers etc. Several website owners from excellent CFL Fan based websites have agreed to promote the event on their sites. I'll setup a Facebook Event page soon as well. Information on here as well.
Not sure if I will get time to get many sponsors but will try. Main thing I'm doing is to head up the organizing of a great game and get fans and some media and CFL players past and present to watch. I really hope some past Snow Bowl players will again play and past spectators will again watch/be involved while I'll also be aiming to get new football fans to the event.
Please email me myk@mykaussie.com or call me on 1 403 870-5578 if you want to be on a 09 Snow Bowl "organizing/promoting type" email. Please also send this webpage to anyone that you know that may be interested in playing in or promoting this event.

Snow Bowl News and Rules! From the Total-CFL.com Discussion!
I'm starting to organize the 09 Snow Bowl more now with 5 weeks to go. Already been talking a bit with a few guys, Saskan in Winnipeg, Hoof, Sugarfoot, Eskinator.
I'll probably start up a Facebook page as its good to get approx attendee numbers etc but thought this is the best place to start to get some help, player, refs commitment etc.
So if you want to help, play or ref add your name to this post saying what you want to do. If you don't have a password and are reading this register and email me at the same time to myk@mykaussie.com so I know your registration on here is to do with the 09 Snow Bowl.
To date,
1) Been promoting the Snow Bowl on 09 CFL Grey Cup Preview TotalCFL TV shows as seen via Total-CFL.com, mykaussie.com
I paid to advertise on the home pages of Lionbackers.com, 13thman.com and Ourbombers.com. I've wanted to do that for awhile with a small video so this was the time to do it.
2) The Western Canada High School proper football field in downtown Calgary said no to the use of their field. Oh well it would have been nice to play on a proper field.
So last week I spoke to the City of Calgary and send off a application for the Princess Island Park area as per where the game was played in 2000. This was next best location. Its OK, I walked around there 2 weekends ago. If this is a no go I know a field close to downtown we can play at with no hassles.
3) The 09 Snow Bowl is going to be my #1 sports casting event of the 09 Grey Cup. Should be fun. I'm also looking forward to hopefully playing in my 2nd Snow Bowl for the West.
4) I know of some great CFL fans that are looking forward to playing, watching, helping in some way. I've started up a "organizing" type email so please add to here and also we can do email. For the Total-CFL.com Discussion Click

The Snow Bowl rules as sent to me by Saskfan In Winnipeg!
1) TREAT THE OFFICIALS WITH RESPECT!!!
2) Seven (7) players per side.
3) One-hand touch.
4) An official CFL football as described in the CFL rulebook will be used. No vinyl footballs. No NFL footballs.
5)45-minutes per half (timed by referee) - At the three minute warning, there will be five plays to end the half (barring penalty).
6) NO FAKE PUNTS.
7) If a ball (except the snap to the QB/Kicker) is dropped, it is AUTOMATICALLY A DEAD BALL.
8) While diving to make a catch or to tag somebody is allowed, sliding or diving for a loose ball is NOT allowed.
9) A kicked ball automatically puts the ball in the possession of the RECEIVING team, regardless of whether it is caught or not. No Yards (5 and 15 yards) can be called on punts.
10) The rusher must be identified BEFORE the play. He/she must line up at least five (5) yards off the line of scrimmage on the defensive side. The rusher must be in a position so that the centre can run straight ahead or to the side from where the rusher is not attacking. Once the rusher and centre pass, they can run whichever direction they want.
11) Other defensive players must line up at least one (1) yard on their side of scrimmage. They can also rush the QB, but only AFTER the rusher has crossed the line of scrimmage.
12) The quarterback cannot advance past the line of scrimmage until the designated rusher crosses the line of scrimmage.
13) Overtime will consist of a 10-minute game with a two-minute warning of three plays. Repeat if still tied.
14) Any rules dispute will be decided by the organizer of the Snow Bowl.
From Sept, 09. "Official Snow Bowl anouncement! Today, I have taken back control of the Snow Bowl. Please stay tuned for future announcements, but I am glad to say that the Snow Bowl is coming home (meaning total-CFL.com)" Saskfan from Winnipeg. For the Total-CFL.com Discussion Click

The
eighth annual Snow Bowl was held at Vancouver’s Stanley Park on Saturday, Nov.
26th @ 3 p.m. The Snow Bowl was started in 1998 in Winnipeg to
commemorate the passing and preserve the memory of the late, great Fred Tawney,
a great fan of the Baltimore Stallions, who passed away the previous year. Fred
fought honorably for his country, the United States of America in the Korean
“conflict”, (call it a war). This year the event was organized by
BC 49 from Lionbacker.
The
Snow Bowl is seven-on-seven Canadian outdoor football with all players eligible
to catch passes, including the Centre, after he snaps the ball. Canadian
Football rules apply and the game must be played
with
a Canadian football. The West has won four times and the East four, with
Saturday’s 12-0 win over the West. The event was filmed most of it by myself
and then Myk when he wasn't playing in Offence for the West
The game started slowly and Bill Haddox (Import; “Let’s Play some
Football”) was injured (knee) on the first Offencive play. Bill then
contributed very much to the East’s win by Coaching the Defence and Special
Teams. Bill is among very few players to have played in all the eight games
since 1998.
The
game was tied 0-0 at the half. The East, behind Marty, Argo jersey Mookie
Mitchell #87, who was seen on the big screen @ B.C. Place during the second
quarter of th 93rd Grey Cup and Ben. Each team’s
QBs,
West Grant and East’s Dano had great games. NightTrain (#62 Argo jersey) also
had a big impact
on
both Special Teams and Defence. Lionbacker13thMan had a great interception
as he played on West's defence.
Evan Wizzer from Vancouver, Myk Aussie Footy Burnaby Eagles player mate had a
huge interception on the one yard line, to stop the West’s biggest drive,
following Myk Aussie’s 30-yard reception. Myk finished with 2 of 4 catches for
45 yards. He also dived but narrowly missed what would have been a great catch.
Though we missed Terry Kazmer and his son from Green Bay, who usually officiate
the game (they didn’t make the trip) this time, the game was capably
officiated by BC49
and OrageShoes99.
This time, unfortunately, nobody from the Vancouver
Media
other than MYKwebTV/Total-CFLwebTV covered the game, despite my mentioning it on
Gabe Morency’s Sportsrage shows, twice on Saturday.
A
very good and close Defencive game, with Evan and Myk’s tough battle produced
many good memories and camaraderie, once again. Congratulations to all the
participants and all who showed up in attendance to watch our fine commemorative
game. Mahalo to all who took the time out of their Grey Cup weekend to make the
trip to beautiful Stanley Park. Myk promises to have a Total-CFLwebTV/MYKwebTV
show from this great game up by the weekend.
Congratulations
to R’Rider’s DE Dave Benefield on the birth of his first Canadian born son,
Ty Mateo, born 12-weeks ago. At least Dave mentioned us in his articles this
week. Mahalo, D.B., and good website!" Moose
