This is interesting, LFL this month in Brisbane and Sydney Australia. I'm sceptical if this will work in Australia. Guys will initially probably go and watch to see what it is all about and enjoy it but I don't see it lasting. Maybe I'm wrong but life is different in Australia compared to USA. Many Aussie guys can go to a local beach to check out and chat up beautiful ladies. Many USA guys watch more TV than Aussies, they luv NFL Football thus the main reason LFL has survived. Gabriel Morency the Legend Sports radio/TV mate of mine, Richard Garner his cohost on the TV show "Game Time Decisions" and some Rageholics attended the Lingerie Bowl in Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday. Gabe rates it as up there with the best time he had over the 4 days in Vegas. He got to meet and hang out with some of the hot and very fit players in the bar after the game. LFL Lingerie Footy Leagues Jaime Eifert’s kickoff on a recent Super Bowl Sunday. If I am struggling for guy numbers and looking for a few footy players on a Saturday in Calgary in 09 I might be calling up Jake and asking him for a couple of the best Kooka's to sit on the bench and be prepared to go. If this is needed I'll be supplying these Kookas' with Lingerie Footy League type padding as seen in the picture above of LFL's Jaime Eifert. Lingerie football is a really very spectacular sport. It’s woman version of American football. Its peculiarity is that players, besides shoes, socks and protections (an ice-hockey-like helmet, shoulder, elbow and knee pads) only wear panties and bra. This nice idea came from Horizon Productions that in 2004 offered it as a pay-per-view show ($19.95) in the halftime of Super Bowl. Hence the slogan for this first lingerie football match, called Lingerie Bowl: "Halftime Has
Never Been This Sexy".

 

First Lingerie Bowl was played on February 2nd, 2004, at Los Angeles Coliseum, a 20 minute, 7 vs 7 match between Team Dream (in white and light blue) and Team Euphoria (in black and pink). The organizers presented as superstars of this 1st Lingerie Bowl Nikki Ziering  for Dream and Angie Everhart for Euphoria. Sideline interviews were by Traci Bingham who, in the atmosphere of the event, wore a low-necked white under dress. Amy Weber commented the match and Daisy Sanchez sang the national anthem. The kick-off by Jamie Eifert (Team Dream) inaugurated history of Lingerie Bowl. The first half ended 0-0. In the second half British player Gwendolyn Osbourne scored the only touchdown of the match, leading Team Dream to a 6-0 victory.

Gwendolyn was also chosen as MVP and, besides a trophy, was also given an even more pleasant reward, a kiss by Didiayer Leworthy, former Miss Australia. Sponsor of first Lingerie Bowl was Partypoker.com (a gambling site). Interest was shown before by car companies Chrysler and Dodge, but both retreated because of polemics grown for this event, that many (especially women) thought offensive for women and for woman sports. I think it’s not so. On the contrary, an American football match played by girls dressed to make their femininity stand out is a likeable attack to machism that sometimes haunt this sport. Besides, Lingerie Bowl was an opportunity to advertise woman football and sports. Beach volley players are more exposed
than lingerie football players and often track-and-field stars show no less. “It’s a whole lot more than what people wear on the beach” rightly said lingerie football quarterback Jennifer Birmingham.

In American football, quarterback is the player that people look more to. So in lingerie football, that position is given to the girl who is thought to be the greatest attraction. In 2004, quarterback position was given to Nikki Ziering for Team Dream and to Angie Everhart for Team Euphoria. But coaches did some changes. Eric Dickerson, Dream’s coach and former LA Rams’ running back, was impresses with Jennifer Birmingham’s skill and the girl, listed as cornerback, became Dream’s quarterback. Jennifer surely took profit from advice by her friends Brock Berlin, Josh Booty e John David Booty, former quarterbacks of Evangel Christian Academy (information about Jennifer from the article "Benton native to quarterback Lingerie Bowl", published in ShreveportTimes.com, January 31st, 2004).

Lingerie Bowl I was a success. So organizers rightly thought not only to repeat, but also to widen the event, creating a four team Lingerie Football League. Each team was linked to a city. Team Dream and Team Euphoria became Los Angeles Dream and New York Euphoria and there were two new teams, Chicago Passion and Dallas Desire. Later on, LA nickname was changed from Dream to Temptation and Chicago nickname from Passion to Bliss.

ROSTERS

NEW YORK EUPHORIA (pink and black “uniform”) are the heirs of Team Euphoria, with three players still in roster: Tanéa Brooks ***, Roban Lampkin * e Sheena Mariano. There was rumors about an enlargement of Lingerie Football League to eight teams. New teams would have been San Francisco Seduction, Las Vegas Sin, Atlanta Steam, Miami Caliente. At least for 2006, though, this idea didn’t become fact and the third championship starts with the same four teams of 2005. The official site of Lingerie Football League presented with some advance the rosters with photos of the four teams, so people can begin to admire players in their lingerie football suits. Later on, though, there were some changes. For example, a car accident, though luckily not a grave one, prevented beautiful Jaimaire Bjorge (LA Temptation) frpm playing.
