It’ll be another dramatic NFL season in 2018-2019 and few will bet against the Patriots and Eagles battling it out once again for American Football’s biggest prize, the Vince Lombardi trophy. There’s no doubt the franchises from Philadelphia and New England will be in the mix when the postseason gets underway but who else is in with a chance of making it to Atlanta for Super Bowl LIII?
Philadelphia Eagles
Who’d bet against the Philadelphia Eagles doing it again? Certainly, when the bet365 NFL odds start considering Super Bowl LIII’s champion, 2018’s triumphant franchise will be in the top 5. The Eagles defense was a big reason behind their success last season and they’ve strengthened it by adding Michael Bennett. Carson Wentz will prove an upgrade over Nick Foles if he stays healthy and Jay Ajayi could have a stand-out year. If these pieces come together, the Eagles will be the team to beat.
New England Patriots
Never bet against the Patriots. It doesn’t matter who the personnel around the leaders is, Brady and Belichick know how to win. The other thing is: they’re hungry for glory after last season’s devastating defeat at the hands of Philadelphia. New England will once again enjoy a fairly easy route to the top of the AFC East but, down the stretch, they’ve proven time and time again to be a force to be reckoned with.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers need to sort out their defense after losing Ryan Shazier to injury. He’ll be out for the entire 2018-2019 campaign and the franchise has been criticised for its replacement choices. But Pittsburgh still possesses a lethal offence which is likely to carry them a long way. If the defense comes good, expect the Steelers to be in the mix for Super Bowl LIII.
Green Bay Packers
Admittedly, the Green Bay Packers gave little reason last season to think they’d be a threat in 2018-2019. But their 7-9 season is a bit deceiving. Let’s see what they can do with a fully fit Aaron Rodgers. If the franchise can’t get back to winning ways during the regular season, attention will turn to the Los Angeles Rams as the next favorite. The young team now has one extra year’s worth of experience so could be a title contender in 2019.
Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings are still licking their wounds having come so close to a Super Bowl game but they lost out to an inspired Eagles display in the NFC Championship game. If the team can get the best out of Dalvin Cook, Minnesota will be knocking on the door come the play-offs.
The Eagles and Patriots are again favorites to make the Super Bowl in 2019 but they’ll be given a run for their money with the Steelers’ offense one to look out for if they can sort out their defense. The Packers and Vikings are franchises to keep an eye on, with the 49ers, Texans and Rams also in with a shout of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
