CIS OUA Yates Cup, Western Mustangs defeat Ottawa Gee-Gees 26 to 25 in a great game in Ottawa!
With 2 seconds left in the 4th quarter the Mustangs kicked a field goal to win a great game of football. There was a very good crowd at Frank Clair Stadium estimated at 10-12,000 on a great sunny Ottawa day. I really ebjoyed the 3 Gee-Gee games I attended this season, with this game being the best, a great standard of football. For the report on the game check out this section on geegees.ca
Ottawa Gee-Gees defeat Guelph Gryphons 54-11! At the game I saw another disgraceful effort by security guards and then a boss policeman!
It was another great effort by the Gee-Gees on Saturday at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. They have finished the reguler season in 1st place in the OUA. For a report on the game, check out this football section of geegees.ca
At the game I saw another disgraceful effort by security guards and then a boss policeman. Uni kids having beers and fun, that was it. They were at one stage told by the boss cop to sit down. So now you can't stand up and yell and cheer at the football? What a joke it was. Another pathetic effort by security guards and then policemen. A few kids were kicked out for doing very little.
I also wanted to give my 7up bottle to the security guard on the way out as he took a pepsi bottle from a kid and kept it. I think he just wanted the 5 cents for the bottle.
My craziest story at the football involving security guards was when I had Cwoc Pammy Anderson (the cardboard cutout of her) sitting with me at Halloween at BC Place. Because she was in a seat next to me the security guard asked mer if I had a ticket for her. I'm serious, he actually said that. I looked at him and laughed my headoff. BC Booze brother Mr Viagra was with me as well. For this MYKwebTV Click

Background:
Rouge Radio started as a branch off of The Rouge Magazine which was published in 2001 by Jason Sperling. Jason Sperling and Aaron Nagy believe it was time to provide a weekly radio broadcast of Canadian Football.
Jason Sperling is the co-host and technical director of Rouge Radio. He started The Rouge magazine in 2000 and has been involved in football for more than a decade. His football career began in 1997 when he became the Media Relations for the Prairie Football Conference of the CJFL. He progressed quickly and became the Canadian Junior Football Leagues' Media Coordinator. For the past 3 years he has been involved with Officiating minor football in the Edmonton Football Officials Association. Jason is a season ticket holder of the Edmonton Eskimos, frequents many UofA Golden Bears, Huskies and Wildcats games throughout the too short football season.
Aaron Nagy serves as co-host and brings a wealth of radio and sports broadcast experience. He grew up in Yorkton for the first 12 years of his life. He volunteered with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for a few years during high school. He learned how the media worked there thanks to the media sports legends. He grew up to the sounds of the legendary voices in radio." Myk Aussie

Jamall Lee signs as a undrafted free agent with the NFL Carolina Panthers!
Jamall Lee of the Bishop's University Gaiters football team has signed with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent. Jamall signed on Sunday after the conclusion of the NFL's annual draft.
Jamall is a three-time Bishop Gaiters Athlete of the Year and a two-time First Team All-Canadian. He becomes the second Gaiter to sign with an NFL team.
At last month's Canadian Football League Evaluation Camp Jamall ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds. He also recorded a 44-inch standing vertical jump. Both of these were CFL Evaluation Camp records.
Having a ranking of 2 Jamall remains eligible for this Saturday's CFL's Canadian Draft.

This
was sent to me today from Douglas Falconer President/CEO from Pacific Media

"With
the 2008 CFL draft fast approaching, I thought you might enjoy this.
The 1975 University of Ottawa Gee Gees left the greatest legacy in Canadian
college football history. The 75 Gee Gees were the first undefeated team in
Vanier Cup history. 21 players from the 1975 Vanier Cup team would go on to be
selected in the CFL draft. 12 of the 21 draftees would go on to play in the CFL.
Collectively they played in the CFL for 96 years. They appeared in 23 Grey Cup
games and collected 12 Grey Cup rings. The team included a CFL Hall of Famer, a
Grey Cup MVP & 2 CFL Rookie of the Year selections. Players from the 75
Vanier Cup Championship team were selected as CFL or CFL divisional all-stars 20
times during their professional careers." Best, Doug

I have no idea where I will run
into ex-CFL or ex-CIS players, but I made quite a find on the road
recently covering an Af2 game in Birmingham, Alabama. Who out there remembers
Jaden Volchoff of Tennessee St and Saint Mary's University of Halifax? He plays
now for the Birmingham Steeldogs of Af2.
The Jaden Volchoff File: OLm, 6' 4.5" Height, 310 lbs. Weight. Has started
10 games for the Steeldogs so far this year. Helped Birmingham to a 6-4 record
in the 10 games he's started. Hopes to get into the CFL after the Af2 season is
over. He knows Pinball Clemons and Chris Schultz of TSN, who has taken him out
to tutor him on occasion. Jaden's father Terry runs a roofing
business back in Dundas, Ontario (call: 1-905-627-0126). I will be traveling up
to Dundas later this year, if things go right to see the Volchoff's who I hit it
off with right away. Keep your eyes peeled for Jaden Volchoff, possibly coming
soon to a CFL team near you!" Moose Salzer

and another Grey Cup is upon us. The Vanier Cup a-comin’ too. Next year the
Vanier is in Saskatoon, which is fitting since the Huskies (yawn) are going back
to another Vanier Cup after having
defeated the Laval Rouge et Or, 29-27, ending
the Rouge et Or’s CIS record19 game winning streak on
Saturday. Once again, the Mitchell Bowl Final:
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies 29, Laval 27.
In the Eastern Uteck Bowl, the University of

again started for the Gold and Red (i.e. Rouge et Or) of Laval along

for team Mexico as Laval beat Wilfred Lauier, 30-11.
In the Mitchell Bowl, the
University of Saskatchewan beat the 'other' Huskies, Saint Mary's of Halifax
(sorry, no CFL team - yet), 31-16. Flores and
Leblanc both are used as punters for Laval and the biggest play
of their Uteck Bowl game was his 30 yard fake-punt pass and his
42 yard reception for a touchdown. I predicted in San Diego in January
'03 this kid will be a top pick in the CFL draft in '05 and I believe
he will. Hopefully the Roughriders will get him! Steve Bilan, the

Fri, Sept 26 03 "Dinos off to a great start! Mooses CIS report!" Myk
The University of Calgary Dinos are now three-'o' (3-0) after blasting Chris
Walby's Univ. of Manitoba Bison last weekend. We talked about the Dinos today
with Stamps Video Coordinator Ross at the last Stamps practice of the week since
the team leaves for Ottawa tomorrow for Friday nights must win game. The Stamps
have one of the few Stadiums in the CFL that shares itself with a CIS team.
The SkyDome will maybe for the last time be home to the Georges Vanier Cup, Nov.
22nd, 2003. The game is a week after the Nov. 16th, 91st Grey Cup in Regina.
Originally the game was to be the Saturday before the Grey Cup, but an
Agriculture Show in Regina moved the G.C. back one week.
The other two wins by Calgary U. this season have been over University of
Alberta Golden Bears, who were coached by ex-Toronto and Edmonton Grey Cup (8
times!) QB Tom Wilkenson for 10 seasons. The second win for Univ. of Calgary
came one week ago v. the Univ. of British Columbia Thunderbirds. The Dinos are
now ranked #6 in the CIS." Moose
Former CIS Regina Rams
player Jason Clermont was a star in the BC Lions win over the Blue Bombers. Is
Jason going to the NFL? I think so!
Michael Belanger is sending me a package complete with Media Guide, Directory,
etc. It was mailed out last week Monday, but with the storm, etc. mail got
slowed down back in my neck of the woods and I'm in Calgary with Myk now. We may
also be headed to Regina this weekend as well but will be at the Eskimos game
Friday night. Come on out to Commonwealth and meet Moose Salzer and
Mykaussie.com. Be there, aloha!" Moose

Quebec team!" Myk Aussie
"The newest team in the University field in Quebec, Sherbrooke University
is about to start their season, they have a brand new stadium with 6k seats and
sold 4500 season tickets, keep in mind that Sherbrooke is a small town
(<150k) good to see football thriving in Quebec.
And a major Montreal newspaper is now devoting a weekly coverage amateur
football, that is great news." SectionW24-18, Total-CFLer

The CIS, Canadian
