Jan 27. Yeh! Broncos are in the Super Bowl after defeating Patriots! Seahawks defeat 49ers in the NFC Championship game to also make the Super Bowl! My NFL Super Bowl bet!

What a great game the Broncos played to defeat the Patriots in the AFC Championship game. I was nervous about this game for sure. Today I placed a bet on the Broncos in the Super Bowl at -2.5. Can't wait for the game. The main reason I stayed in Canada until now was to watch and focus on the NFL. I'm returning to South Australia on Feb 4th for 3 mths hopefully very happy after a Broncos Super Bowl win.

I placed a bet on the Falcons at +2 and also the Broncos at -15.5. I also said to my Raiders mate that I honestly believe Broncos will win by 4 touchdowns. In week 2 I went 12-4 and lost 21 points. Wow, after 2 weeks I'm in the lead in Nate's amazing competition.

I had a good week 1 going 14 out of 16 and and am 2 pts behind the leader. I lost points on the Bucs being stupidly defeated by the Jets and the Steelers losing to the Titans.

The playoff format is great as well. So if you finish 1st after the regular season you get to pick the playoff team that you think will win the Super Bowl, finishing 2nd you get to choose 2nd down to the 12th highest finisher picks 12th. There is also a Pool B for playoffs for the 13th to 24th placed participants but most of the prize money is in the Pool A, the 1st 12 placed participants. I won it the year the New Orleans Saints won Super Bowl XLIV on February 7 2010. Should I give the money back because of the Head Hunting bounty scandal? Well I was never asked to so I didn’t.  My week 1 bets!

I enjoy having a few $3 or $5 bets on the NFL for some added fun and to challenge myself. These are my initial week 1 bets that I asked Gabriel Morency’s opinion on last Friday night.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Jets. Bucs favoured by 3 points. The Jets are an absolute mess not only at quarterback but also at wide receiver. I like the Jets but think they will only have a few wins all year. The Bucs are predicted to be better this year and even though the game is in New York I think they can win by a touchdown or possibly a lot more. I think I will put a few more dollars on the Bucs.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Redskins. Redskins favoured by -3.5. I’m really looking forward to watching the Eagles this year. I’m a huge fan of Chip Kelly the dynamic former coach of the Oregon Ducks and now the Eagles head coach and with a fit Michael Vick at quarterback I think Eagles can be awesome this year. Their defense could again be a concern though. “Bob” RG3 the stud Redskins quarterback will probably play but he hasn’t played at all in the pre-season after his knee operation so he will be “rusty” as they say. Should be a great game but I like the +3.5 for the Eagles and as you can see above I also think they will win.

Update Wed Sept 4. EJ Manuel will be starting at quarterback for the Bills. The line has dropped to -9.5. I wouldn't have placed the bet if I thought EJ Manuel was starting. That said I think Patriots could still win by 10 points or more.
From Tues Sept 3. New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills. Patriots -10.5. I think the Bills will be better this year but their top two quarterbacks are out injured this week. E. J Manuel their 1st round draft pick was looking very promising in pre-season until injured, Kevin Kolb who they also bought in from Arizona is out with a concussion so Jeff Tuel a undrafted college quarterback who played at Washington State is apparently starting this week. The Patriots are going to be looking way different on offense as Champ Wes Welker is now at the mighty Denver Broncos, Aaron Hernandez is in jail awaiting trial on a murder charge while star tight end Rob Gronkowski is recovering from another arm surgery and back surgery. This said with a unknown very inexperienced Jeff Tuel starting for the Bills I think Patriots will win easily and cover the 10.5 points.  

Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers. Seahawks favored by 3. Many fans may be worried about Seattle traveling to Carolina from the West Coast but I’m not concerned. They are a great team now and a Super Bowl pick by some NFL experts. Panthers should be a better than last year but I like Seattle winning by more than 3 points.

Oakland Raiders at Indianapolis Colts. Colts favoured by -9.5. Raiders are a mess. At home Colts will probably win by 3 touchdowns or even more.

It's Ravens vs 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII! My bet! My thoughts!

I placed a bet on the 49ers at -3.5. Why? Well because I'm hoping they win. Do I think they will win? I think the game will be very close and could go either way. Here is a good site if you want to see some Super Bowl odds and place a bet http://www.docsports.com/super-bowl-odds.html I'm still upset at the Broncos losing against the Ravens and I'm also like many others, sick of Ray Lewis's BS all about him. Is it the medias fault? Somewhat but Ray has been keen to talk about himself alot the past weeks. I have respected Ray as one of the best defenders ever and I like his dedication and being about the team but it's been way too much the coverage of Ray that I feel he has enjoyed and brought onto himself.

My first memory of Ray Lewis is from the Pro Bowl in Feb 2000. I remember being at one of the practises and it was announced that Ray would not be playing as he was in jail. That's all I need or want to say on this topic. Reserach the web if you want to know more on this.

Also growing up in Australia we only got to see the Super Bowl on TV. I liked the 49ers and Joe Montana as a teenager. Still proudly wearing my Broncos Manning jersey I think I'll do a bit of a pub crawl downtown Ottawa for Super Bowl, watch the game but also enjoy the atmosphere and do some Cwoc hunting then watch the full game replay on the magnificent NFL Network next week.

From Sat Jan 19. My NFL Playoff picks, bets! Sports Rage! I have been a Denver Donkey all week!

In the AFC Championship game I'm going for the Patriots to defeat the Ravens. In the NFC Championship game I'm going for the 49ers to defeat the Falcons. I placed a bet on 49ers at -4. The -8.5 spread for the Patriots seemed a bit high so I kept away from that game. Last night on Sports Rage I talked lots of NFL with Gabriel Morency including how I have been a Denver Donkey all week after the Broncos bad performance last Saturady. I took the lose hard. Refer to my twitter feed @MykAussie from last Saturday night until Tuesday for tweets on the NFL and especially my team the Broncos.

In the AFC I'm going for Broncos and Patriots to win and I also placed bets on Broncos at -8.5 and Patriots at -9.5. After much thought I'm going for the Falcons and 49ers in the NFC for the win and against the spreads. From Sat Jan 5. Yeh Playoffs are here! My Wild Card picks, bets!

Saturday. Bengals over Texans. This game could go either way. The game is in Houston but the Bengals have been great the past weeks while the Texans have been verage average/bad.

Packers over Vikings. I'm really looking forward to this game on Saturday night in Green Bay as I like both of these teams. Packers should be too strong at home I believe.

Sunday. Colts over Ravens. Even though the Ravens are favoured by 7 pts it was not that long ago that the Broncos smashed the Ravens in Baltimore. Could be a close game though. Yeh the Ray Lewis return will hype the Ravens but like Warren Sapp just said on NFL Network Ray is nowhere near the player he used to be and after 5 mins the big talk and hype of him returning wears off quite a bit if he is not making plays. Ray has been one of my favourite NFL players but I feel he played one year too many and today this may show in his play after being out for much of the season. He will be great to listen to on TV next year. In his prime Ray was the most dominant NFL defender I have seen.

Seahawks over Redskins. This is the game that I am most looking forward to watching this weekend. I think the Seahwaks have a very good all round team and with Redskins star 1st year QB RG3, his knee still not what it could be I'm liking the Seahawks even though the game is in Washington.

I placed bets on Bengals at +4, Vikings at +7.5, Colts at +7 and Sawhawks at -2.5. I also placed a bet today on Broncos to win the Super Bowl, a $32.50 payout on a $10 bet.

I again last night talked lots of NFL on Sports Rage with Gabriel Morency. My bets this week are Bengals at -1.5. I think they can win big over the Jags. Redskins at +2.5 against the Bucs although I picked Bucs to win just and Broncos
on the moneyline as the spread went from -5.5 to -7. Even though I believe the Broncos can win well against the Raiders I wasn't as confident on the -7. Hopefully I have a better week picking in week 4 than week 3. Crazy upsets last week.

Dallas Cowboys upset the New York Giants 24-17 on Wednesday night!

Well I broke my own rule in regards to, not ever betting on either the Cowboys or the Giants. It was an amazing great win by the Cowboys in New York. I don't like to be negative but seriously Giants star receiver from last year Victor Cruz must have been dancing all off-season. He had some crucial bad drops that really cost the Giants. Victor might be teaching salza dancing and not playing if he keeps that up.

From Mon Aug 13. Dolphins release Chad Johnson after he spent Saturday night in jail. If it was a blatant headbutt to his new wife, Chad did very wrong. As Jim Rome just said "even if's not Chad's fault it is his fault!" Sad times in USA when events like this get massive publicity. Again I will say if Chad did headbutt her he did very wrong. He should have walked away or opened the car door for her and made her get out. Do similar to what Tony Romo did to Jessica Simpson when she wanted to argue so he made her get out of his car and he left her at a shopping centre.

The letter below was distributed today to all current and former NFL players, as well as team and league personnel. We will continue to update you on important league initiatives.

To All NFL Personnel:

There is no higher priority for the National Football League than the health and wellness of our players. It is for this reason that we are launching NFL Total Wellness, a comprehensive new initiative for current and former NFL players, as well as league and team personnel. Its mission is to build on our programs and services that enhance the physical and mental health of our people.

NFL Total Wellness will empower players to make positive health decisions; promote help-seeking behaviors in connection with behavioral and mental health issues; provide education on family safety; and enhance transition programs that help players adjust to new stages of life.

Dr. David Satcher, former Surgeon General of the United States and current director of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine, will advise NFL Total Wellness. Dr. Satcher has already conducted 14 mental health forums over the past two years for former NFL players and their families. He will expand his role to facilitate more wellness events across the country. He also will provide online webinars on nflplayerengagement.com and consult with the NFL on its health programs and services.

Leading the NFL Total Wellness initiative will be NFL executives Robert Gulliver and Troy Vincent. Gulliver, the NFL’s Chief Human Resources Officer, joined the league in 2010, having previously held senior HR leadership roles at Wells Fargo & Company. Vincent, the vice president of NFL Player Engagement, is a five-time Pro Bowl cornerback and former president of the NFL Players Association (2004-2008).

Members of our NFL family are not immune to the challenges that all individuals face.

One new service, NFL Life Line, launches today as part of our support system. NFL Life Line is a free, independent and confidential phone consultation service and website available to all members of the NFL family, including current and former players, coaches, team and league staff, and their family members. This type of employee assistance service is considered a model for companies across all sectors.

The NFL Life Line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. All calls will be strictly confidential and not shared with the league office, teams, or any related entity. To find out more, visit NFLLifeLine.org.

Just confirmed on NFL Network, Tim Tebow is a New York Jet after the earlier troubles today. Jets bosses didn't read the contract properly, their was $5 million they needed to pay the Broncos. Rams and Jags read it. Jets bosses were dumb asses today re cant read but I believe it's a great pick up for them. I've liked the Jets since I got to Canada in 1998, now I like them even more.

This is one of the greatest days ever! Peyton Manning is a Denver Bronco! The approx 45 min press conference was great. Manning is a legend, he spoke brillliantly! Hopefully he can stay healthy and lead the mighty Denver Broncos back to glory!

He lead the Broncos to the playoffs and in particular the great win over the Steelers was amazing. As many of you know I am not a Steelers fan at all, often calling them the dirty rotten Steelers.
