2010 NFL Pro Bowl selections! Details from NFLMedia.com!
AFC!
The Indianapolis Colts placed a conference-best six players on the American Football Conference All-Star team that will face the National Football Conference All-Stars in the 2010 Pro Bowl that kicks off Super Bowl week in South Florida.

The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida, one week before Super Bowl XLIV takes place on the same field.  Broadcast live on ESPN at 7:20 p.m. ET, the Pro Bowl will for the first time be held prior to the Super Bowl and serve as the signature kickoff event of Super Bowl week.

The Colts’ six All-Star selections – DALLAS CLARK, DWIGHT FREENEY, PEYTON MANNING, ROBERT MATHIS, JEFF SATURDAY and REGGIE WAYNE – are tied for the third-most in team history.  The AFC roster has eight first-time All-Stars, including two rookies – safety JAIRUS BYRD of the Buffalo Bills and linebacker BRIAN CUSHING of the Houston Texans.

Leading a trio of talented quarterbacks is 10-time All-Star Manning, who has been named the Pro Bowl starter for the second consecutive year.  He joins BRETT FAVRE (11) as the only quarterbacks selected to at least 10 AFC-NFC Pro Bowls.  San Diego quarterback PHILIP RIVERS, who has led the Chargers to a No. 2 seed in the 2009 playoffs, was selected to his second Pro Bowl.  Fully recovered from a season-ending knee injury a year ago, TOM BRADY of the New England Patriots will make his fifth Pro Bowl appearance.

The AFC backfield will be highlighted by NFL rushing leader CHRIS JOHNSON of the Tennessee Titans, who has been named the starter.  Johnson (1,872) is in pursuit of 2,000 rushing yards and is the first Titan since JEVON KEARSE (1999-2000 seasons) to be selected to the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons.

Rounding out the running back position will be two first-timers in the All-Star game – MAURICE JONES-DREW of Jacksonville and RAY RICE of Baltimore.  Jones-Drew leads the AFC with 15 rushing touchdowns and joins FRED TAYLOR (2007 season) as the only Jaguars running backs to earn Pro Bowl honors.  In his second season, Rice ranks second in the NFL behind Johnson with 1,952 scrimmage yards (1,269 rushing, 683 receiving).  Fellow Raven LE’ RON MC CLAIN will be the AFC fullback for the second consecutive season.

Houston’s ANDRE JOHNSON, who leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,504), has been chosen as one of four receivers on the AFC team.  Johnson will make his fourth Pro Bowl appearance and second consecutive start.  Lined up opposite Johnson as a starter will be four-time All-Star Reggie Wayne of Indianapolis.  Two second-time selections will round out the position – New England’s WES WELKER (122) and Denver’s BRANDON MARSHALL (101) – who rank No. 1 and 2 respectively in receptions in the NFL this season.

Representing the AFC at tight end will be first-time All-Star Dallas Clark of the Colts.  In his seventh season, Clark leads NFL tight ends in receptions (93).  San Diego’s ANTONIO GATES, who leads NFL tight ends in receiving yards (1,145), has been selected to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl.

Helping pave the way for the New York Jets’ top-ranked rushing attack is 12-year veteran guard ALAN FANECA, who will make his ninth consecutive Pro Bowl trip.  LOGAN MANKINS of New England, who will make his second All-Star game appearance, will be the other starting guard.  San Diego’s KRIS DIELMAN has been selected to his third consecutive Pro Bowl to complete the position.

NICK MANGOLD of the Jets earns his second trip to the Pro Bowl and will be the starting center.  In his 11th season, Indianapolis’ Jeff Saturday has been a mainstay along the Colts offensive line and will make his fourth Pro Bowl.

Assigned to keep the pocket clean against the talented NFC edge rushers are a group of young AFC All-Star tackles.  Two first-round selections from the 2008 NFL Draft, RYAN CLADY of Denver and JAKE LONG of Miami, will be the starters.  Cleveland tackle JOE THOMAS earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl nod since entering the league in 2007.

Plugging the middle for the AFC defensive front are starting interior linemen HALOTI NGATA of Baltimore and New England’s VINCE WILFORK.  Ngata will make his Pro Bowl debut while Wilfork makes his second Pro Bowl trip.  Joining Ngata and Wilfork is Pittsburgh’s CASEY HAMPTON, a five-time All-Star.

A trio of AFC South pass rushers will be on display at defensive end for the second consecutive All-Star game.  Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis of the Indianapolis Colts are the teammates to start at defensive end in the Pro Bowl since Miami’s JASON TAYLOR and TRACE ARMSTRONG in 2000.  Freeney reaches his fifth Pro Bowl in eight seasons and Mathis is a two-time All-Star.  Former No. 1 overall pick MARIO WILLIAMS (2006) of Houston will make his second consecutive All-Star appearance.

ELVIS DUMERVIL of Denver, who leads the NFL with 17 sacks, will start at outside linebacker in his first Pro Bowl.  He joins three-time All-Star JAMES HARRISON of Pittsburgh.  The position is completed by standout rookie Brian Cushing of Houston.  Cushing is the first rookie outside linebacker to be selected to the Pro Bowl since San Diego’s SHAWNE MERRIMAN (2005 season).

The leaders of defense for the AFC will be middle linebackers RAY LEWIS of Baltimore and DE MECO RYANS of Houston.  In his 14th season from Miami, Lewis is a 10-time All-Star.  Ryans, the captain of the Texans defense, earned his second Pro Bowl trip.

Three of the NFL’s elite cover cornerbacks will represent the AFC in the secondary.  Two-time All-Stars NNAMDI ASOMUGHA of Oakland and DARRELLE REVIS of the New York Jets will pair as the starters.  Revis has played a pivotal role for the Jets’ No. 1 ranked defense that is allowing a league-low 264.3 yards per game and 163.9 passing yards per game.  In his 11th season, CHAMP BAILEY of Denver returns for his ninth Pro Bowl.

Two of the NFL’s most accomplished defensive players will start at safety for the AFC.  Baltimore’s ball-hawking free safety ED REED earns his sixth Pro Bowl nod in eight NFL seasons.  Eight-time Pro Bowl selection and first-time AFCer BRIAN DAWKINS of Denver will roam the secondary alongside Reed.  Buffalo safety Jairus Byrd joins starting safeties Reed and Dawkins and becomes the first rookie safety selected to the Pro Bowl since Chicago’s MARK CARRIER in 1990.

The AFC special teams unit is comprised of four players, including Browns kick-returner JOSHUA CRIBBS.  Cribbs leads the NFL with three kickoff-return touchdowns this season and now has eight in his career, the most all-time.  San Diego kicker NATE KAEDING, who leads the AFC with 135 points, will make his second All-Star game.  Kaeding is tied for first in the conference with 29 field goals.  San Diego wide receiver KASSIM OSGOOD, who will serve as the AFC’s special teamer, appears in his third Pro Bowl.  Completing the special teams group will be Oakland’s veteran punter SHANE LECHLER.  The five-time All-Star leads the NFL with a 51.1 average in 2009 and has placed 28 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

The 42-man AFC squad is comprised of 21 offensive and 17 defensive players plus four specialists.  A 43rd “need” player will be chosen by the AFC head coach and must be a long snapper.  The 2010 AFC coaching staff will be from the team with the best record that is eliminated in the AFC Divisional playoffs.

The NFL is the only professional sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players in determining its All-Star teams.  The consensus vote of each group counts one-third towards the total.  Each team submits two ballots – those of the coach and the players with no one permitted to vote for a player on his own team.  This year, nearly 90 million fan votes were cast on NFL.com and on wireless phones.

The National Conference defeated the American Conference 30-21 last season in the Pro Bowl.  The 2010 game is the 40th between the AFC and NFC All-Stars with the NFC leading the all-time series 20-19. The 2010 Pro Bowl is only the second Pro Bowl to be played in the same city as the Super Bowl.  The Los Angeles Coliseum hosted the first Super Bowl on January 15, 1967 and the Pro Bowl the following week.

NFC!
The Minnesota Vikings placed an NFL-best eight players on the National Football Conference All-Star team that will face the American Football Conference All-Stars in the 2010 Pro Bowl that kicks off Super Bowl week in South Florida.

Thirteen NFC players will participate in their first Pro Bowl, including Philadelphia’s DE SEAN JACKSON, who was selected at two positions – wide receiver and kick returner.  Jackson has scored eight touchdowns of at least 50 yards (five receiving, two on punt returns and one rushing), tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer ELROY “CRAZYLEGS” HIRSCH (1951) and Chicago’s DEVIN HESTER (2007) for the most in a single season.

Among the Vikings’ eight selections are three first-time All-Stars: special teamer HEATH FARWELL, tackle BRYANT   MC KINNIE and wide receiver SIDNEY RICE.  They join veteran defensive end JARED ALLEN (third Pro Bowl), quarterback BRETT FAVRE (11th), guard STEVE HUTCHINSON (seventh), running back ADRIAN PETERSON (third) and defensive tackle KEVIN WILLIAMS (fifth).

The starting quarterback for the NFC is four-time All-Star DREW BREES of New Orleans.  Brees, who has been selected three times since joining the Saints in 2006, is the first quarterback in franchise history to be named to three Pro Bowls (ARCHIE MANNING, two).  Joining Brees at QB are Green Bay’s AARON RODGERS, who became the first player in NFL history to pass for at least 4,000 yards in each of his first two seasons as a starter, and Minnesota’s Favre, whose 11 Pro Bowl selections are the most all-time for a quarterback.  Favre is also the first player to be named to the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl in three consecutive seasons with a different team (Green Bay 2008, New York Jets 2009, Minnesota 2010).

Starting at running back for the NFC is Minnesota’s Peterson, who is the first player to start the Pro Bowl at RB in each of his first three seasons since Pro Football Hall of Famer BARRY SANDERS (1990-93).  He is joined by St. Louis’ STEVEN JACKSON, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, and first-time All-Star DE ANGELO WILLIAMS of Carolina.  Jackson, who leads the NFC with 1,353 rushing yards, was previously named to the 2007 NFC team.  Williams, who has rushed for 1,117 yards, is the first Panthers running back in the Pro Bowl since STEPHEN DAVIS in 2004.

Filling out the backfield at fullback is Philadelphia’s LEONARD WEAVER, a five-year veteran from Carson-Newman College making his first Pro Bowl appearance.

The starting wide receivers for the NFC are Arizona’s LARRY FITZGERALD, who scored two touchdowns in last year’s contest and was named the game’s MVP, and Philadelphia’s Jackson.  Filling out the position are first-time All-Stars MILES AUSTIN of Dallas and Minnesota’s Rice.  Austin leads the NFL with eight touchdown receptions of at least 20 yards and his 1,230 receiving yards are the most in the NFC.  Rice ranks second in the conference with 1,200 receiving yards and is the first Vikings wide receiver to go to the Pro Bowl since RANDY MOSS in 2004.

Starting at tight end for the NFC is San Francisco’s VERNON DAVIS, who will make his first Pro Bowl appearance.  Davis, who is tied for the conference lead with 12 touchdown receptions, is the first 49ers tight end to be selected since BRENT JONES in 1996.  He is joined by Dallas’ JASON WITTEN, who has been selected to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl.  Witten leads all NFC tight ends with 88 catches and 954 yards.

Minnesota’s Hutchinson will make his seventh consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl and will start at guard along with New Orleans’ JAHRI EVANS, a first-time All-Star.  The Cowboys’ LEONARD DAVIS, a three-time choice, rounds out the position.

Dallas’ ANDRE GURODE will start at center, his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection.  Two-time All-Star SHAUN O’HARA of the New York Giants is the other center for the NFC.

The starting tackles are Minnesota’s McKinnie and Philadelphia’s JASON PETERS, who had previously been selected twice as member of the Buffalo Bills (2008-09).  Seven-year veteran JON STINCHCOMB of New Orleans, another first-time All-Star, is the NFC’s third tackle.

The Vikings’ Allen and Carolina’s JULIUS PEPPERS will get the start at defensive end for the NFC.  Allen is the first Minnesota defensive end to be chosen in consecutive years since CHRIS DOLEMAN (1993-94).  Peppers’ five Pro Bowl selections are the most by a defensive player in franchise history.  The Eagles’ TRENT COLE, who was a member of the 2008 NFC squad, will make his second trip to the Pro Bowl.

The starters on the interior defensive line are two-time Pro Bowl selection DARNELL DOCKETT of Arizona and Minnesota’s Williams.  JAY RATLIFF of Dallas, a two-time All-Star, fills out the position.  This season, Dockett leads all defensive tackles with seven sacks.  Williams and Ratliff are tied for third in the league among DTs with six sacks.

For the second consecutive year, San Francisco’s PATRICK WILLIS, a three-time All-Star, will get the start at inside linebacker.  He will be joined by New Orleans’ JONATHAN VILMA, who will make his second Pro Bowl appearance.  He was named to the 2006 AFC squad as a member of the New York Jets.

The starting outside linebackers are once again Chicago’s LANCE BRIGGS and Dallas’ DE MARCUS WARE.  Briggs has been selected to five consecutive Pro Bowls and Ware has been named an All-Star in each of the past four seasons.  Rookie BRIAN ORAKPO of the Washington Redskins, who has 11 sacks this year, completes the position.

At cornerback, six-time Pro Bowl selection CHARLES WOODSON of Green Bay and three-time All-Star ASANTE SAMUEL of Philadelphia get the starting nod.  Samuel (nine) and Woodson (eight) lead all NFL cornerbacks in interceptions.  Arizona’s DOMINIQUE RODGERS-CROMARTIE, who has an NFC-high 25 passes defensed, will make his Pro Bowl debut.

The secondary is completed by strong safety ADRIAN WILSON of Arizona and free safeties DARREN SHARPER of New Orleans and NICK COLLINS of Green Bay.  Wilson, chosen to his third Pro Bowl, and Sharper, a five-time All-Star, will start.  Last week, Wilson became the 10th player in NFL history with at least 20 sacks and 20 interceptions in a career and Sharper set a single-season record with 376 interception-return yards.  Collins, who leads all safeties with 13 interceptions since the start of the 2008 season, will make his second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance.

Two Eagles will play a key role on special teams for the NFC.  Four-time All-Star DAVID AKERS will handle the kicking duties and Jackson was named the club’s return specialist.  San Francisco’s ANDY LEE, a two-time selection, was chosen as the team’s punter and Minnesota’s Farwell is the special teamer.

The 42-man NFC squad is comprised of 21 offensive and 17 defensive players plus four specialists.  Because Jackson was selected at two positions, he will participate in the Pro Bowl at the position for which he received the most voting points.  An alternate player will be added to the team to fill the secondary position and announced at a later date.  A 43rd “need” player will be chosen by the NFC head coach and must be a long snapper.  The 2010 NFC coaching staff will be from the team with the best record that is eliminated in the NFC Divisional playoffs.

The NFC defeat the AFC 42 to 30 in a great game!
The AFC went to a early Big lead but then the NFC came back to win the game. Vikings star Rookie Running Back Adrian Peterson was MVP as he scored 2 touchdowns and ran for 129 yards. Cowboys Wide Receiver Terrell Owens also scored 2 Touch downs as did Bengals T.J. Houshmandzadeh. NFC and Buc's Quarterback Jeff Garcia throwing to Terrell Owens was interesting. I wonder if Terrell apologized to Jeff for being such a loud mouth a few years ago.

Wow! This is unreal! I'm wondering how many people will search on "NFL Pro Bowl" related videos on YouTube.com this week.

I couldn't find the Pro Bowl Cheerleaders rosters anywhere. That's weird normally the pictures of the #1 cheerleaders selected from each team are on nfl.com. Surely they are there again this year.

Yes they were. I saw some Pro Bowl cheerleader action on Fox today but not enough. I found out that they were going to again be there on Saturday not from nfl.com but from YouTube.com where I watched a 2008 Pro Bowl Cheerleaders video from Skyjammer170. Check it out

Aussie and former Uni of Hawaii Warrior Mat McBriar the Cowboys star punter punts great in his 1st Pro Bowl! Pro Bowl NFL MYKwebTV!" Myk

Left: I'm here with Aussie Mat McBriar the Cowboys star punter at the Hula Bowl. Mat is going back to Hawaii this time as a Pro Bowler. Right: A great picture from my video camera as I am on the sidelines at a recent NFL Pro Bowl. For very popular MYKwebTV from Pro Bowls Click here

The NFL Pro Bowl was, Wow!
Over the past years many media have bagged the Pro Bowl saying it was a bit of a joke with many players not committed on the day and I have to somewhat agree with that. However the hit by Redskins Sean Taylor on the Bills punter Brian Moorman was as good a hit as I have ever seen. Bengals Chad Johnson appeared to wrench his knee early in the game. Chat was back on the field competing at Wide Receiver in the last quarter. Just two examples from a great game
. Bengals Quarterback Carson Palmer was named the MVP of the Pro Bowl. The year that Carson won the Heisman Trophy was the year that I was lucky enough to film this prestigious trophy on location at the NCAA Hula Bowl. Check it out Click here

The NFC punter Aussie and Cowboys Mat McBriar punted very well in windy conditions. Mat had 4 punts for a average of 51 yards, his longest being 54 yards. Check out NCAA MYKwebTV as I'm 1 on 1 with Mat McBriar the Dallas Cowboys Champ punter who is now a Pro Bowler. Mat is featured in the 2nd and 3rd shows below the TV screen Click here

"My Pro Bowl report!" Moose Salzer
As I predicted last week, the AFC beat the NFC in the 28th consecutive AFC-NFC Pro Bowl, 31-28. AFC QB Carson Palmer was the game M.V.P. and passed for 177 yards and two TDs. New England's Bill Belichick and staff Coached the AFC but QB Tom Brady, having minor repairs to his right (plant) ankle did not play. Palmer was the second and fourth QB in the AFC rotation. He replaced Tennessee's Vince Young in the 3rd quarter. Palmer threw TD passes to both his Cincinnati Bengal WR-mate Chad Johnson and Reggie Wayne.

Hawai'i's Mat McBriar, the NFC's punter/holder played in his first game back at Aloha Stadium since graduating from the University of Hawai'i in 2003. NFL M.V.P. LaDainian Tomlinson the San Diego RB had probably the second best game but two-time San Diego playoff goat K Nick Kaeding kicked the game winner. He had previously missed from 48 yards in the second quarter. The bad news besides the big hit on Buffalo P Brian Moorman (2001 Berlin NFL E Champ vet) was the dislocated elbow injury suffered by New Orlean starting QB Drew Brees who's been arguably the hottest statistical QB the last two years in the  League for both San Diego in 05 and New Orlean in 06. NFC Coach Sean Payton, an Arena Football ArenaBowl I QB and former replacement player looked on in dismay. This could very well effect the Saints come training camp/preseason. Thank goodness the Saints have Jamie Martin in reserve. The Saints also have Ar.FL Las Vegas QB Jason Fife, who was an Ar.FL rookie one year ago.

Two veteran NFL players Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins and Virginia's New York G-Men RB Tiki Barber called it a career after the game. Both were two of the best at their positions and will be missed as classy football players and by their teams. Good luck to both in the future." Moose

From Moose " Pro Bowl Report: 27th annual Honolulu, HI NFL Pro Bowl Score: NFC 23, AFC 17
Game recap. Well, at least it was better than Stupor Bowl XL. Yes, there were many turnovers and boy did QBs Peyton Manning (3 INTs), Trent Green (1 INT., 2 fumbles) & Steve McNair (3 fumbles, 2 lost) look ordinary-to-bad. The NFC used Jake Delhomme & Matt Hasselbeck at QB. The best players of the game were: AFC: DLm Kyle Vanden Bosch, Tennessee and DBs John Lynch and C. Bailey, Denver. The best overall player was the NFC's Tampa LB Derreck Brooks who took home M.V.P. Vanden Bosch could have won with his 2 sacks and 2.5 RB tackles for losses, but he didn't get enough help from his AFC mates (except Lynch and Bailey). Denver WR Rod Smith got a partial concussion nexr the end of the game. This sis one yar, with the way the NFC's last two games  turned out, that I did not miss going to the Super Bowl or Pro Bowl." Fri, Feb 11 05 "Pro Bowl news direct from NFL Media. MYKwebTV will for the 5th year be at Pro Bowl!

Scotty Ospuntboy and Adam will be at this years Pro Bowl web sports casting for MYKwebTV.

From NFL Media

PATRIOTS RB COREY DILLON NAMED TO AFC PRO BOWL SQUAD ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – New England Patriots running back Corey Dillon has been selected to participate in his fourth career Pro Bowl. Dillon is the sixth Patriots player on the AFC’s 2005 Pro Bowl roster, joining teammates Tom Brady, Tedy Bruschi, Larry Izzo, Richard Seymour and Adam Vinatieri. The six Patriots will represent the AFC in the NFL’s annual all-star game in Hawaii on Feb. 13. Dillon had previously earned Pro Bowl nods for three consecutive seasons from 1999-2001. The eight-year veteran was added to this year’s AFC Pro Bowl roster in place of Indianapolis Colts running back Edgerrin James, who will miss the game due to injury (back).

In 2004, Dillon turned in one of the finest seasons by any running back in the 45-year history of the Patriots franchise. He set the club’s single-season record with a career-high 1,635 rushing yards, besting the previous mark of 1,487 yards (Curtis Martin, 1995). Dillon achieved the feat despite missing a game due to injury, and his rushing total still ranked third in the NFL, just 62 yards behind Curtis Martin’s league-leading total. Dillon led the league with an average of 109.0 yards per game in which he played. He exceeded the 100-yard rushing plateau in nine separate games, tying Martin’s 1995 total for the most 100-yard games in a season in Patriots history. Dillon also set a career high with 12 rushing touchdowns, tying him for third in team history in that category.Dillon’s productivity continued into the playoffs, as he totaled 217 yards in the Patriots’ two playoff wins leading to their AFC championship. In his first career playoff game on Jan. 16, Dillon ran for 144 yards on 23 carries as the Patriots controlled the ball in a 20-3 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional playoffs. His 144 yards constitute the second highest single-game rushing total in Patriots playoff history. The 6-foot-1-inch, 225-pounder was acquired by the Patriots from the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 2004 second round draft pick (56th overall – FS Madieu Williams) on April 19, 2004. In his regular-season career, the 30-year-old has run for a total of 9,696 yards, placing him 18th in NFL history.

COWBOYS TACKLE FLOZELL ADAMS ADDED TO NFC PRO BOWL ROSTER

Dallas Cowboys tackle Flozell Adams has been selected to represent the NFC in the 2005 Pro Bowl. The seven-year veteran from Michigan State was added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster in place of Philadelphia Eagles tackle Tra Thomas, who will miss the game due to injury (back).

This is Adams' second consecutive trip to Hawaii and he joins teammates Larry Allen, La'Roi Glover, Roy Williams and Jason Witten on the NFC squad, giving the Cowboys a total of five All Stars.

FANS TO CALL TWO PLAYS IN PRO BOWL VIA NFL.COM "PICK-A-PLAY" VOTING Fans Will Select Offensive Play for Each Conference To Run During Fourth Quarter.

Last Sunday, a record 468,818 fan votes were cast for the Cadillac Super Bowl MVP via online and wireless voting. This Sunday, fans will vote on NFL.com to select two plays to run in the fourth quarter of the 2005 Pro Bowl (ESPN, 7:30 PM ET). Beginning today and continuing through halftime of the game, fans can vote on NFL.com for one of four plays submitted by AFC and NFC coaches earlier this week (see play lists below).

In the fourth quarter, the fans’ choice will be relayed to the coaches. One coach from each conference will discuss his team’s play with an ESPN sideline reporter moments before it is run on the Aloha Stadium field.

NFL.com "Pick-A-Play" was introduced at the 2004 Pro Bowl with more than 60,000 votes cast. The fans’ NFC play – "Press 67 Solid Seattle" – resulted in a 33-yard touchdown pass from St. Louis Rams quarterback MARC BULGER to Atlanta Falcons tight end ALGE CRUMPLER which keyed the conference’s victorious rally from a 25-point deficit.

"Fake Stretch Right Flea Flicker" – the fans’ AFC choice – went for a 19-yard completion from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback TRENT GREEN to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver CHAD JOHNSON. Following are the 2005 NFL.com Pro Bowl "Pick-A-Play" choices, as submitted by the Atlanta Falcons’ and Pittsburgh Steelers’ coaches. (Complete descriptions of each play are available on NFL.com)

PRO BOWL HALFTIME SHOW TO CELEBRATE THE “IDOLS AND LEGENDS OF ALOHA” WITH ISLAND STARS DON HO, JASMINE TRIAS AND KAPENA JASON MRAZ TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM

The NFL will celebrate Hawaii’s rich musical tradition by teaming the legendary DON HO with its newest star JASMINE TRIAS and longtime island favorites KAPENA for the “Idols and Legends of Aloha” Pro Bowl halftime show during Sunday’s All-Star Game at Aloha Stadium televised live by ESPN, 2:30 p.m. (HT), 7:30 p.m. (ET), it was announced today.

JASON MRAZ, Elektra recording artist, whose hit “The Remedy” has topped the Billboard charts for 28 consecutive weeks, will perform the National Anthem, which also will be televised live by ESPN.

Ho will sing his signature classic, “Tiny Bubbles,” joined on stage by Trias and Kapena. Originally recorded in 1966, “Tiny Bubbles” became a national hit and kicked off a string of successful albums, television appearances and performances at popular nightclubs around the world. Ho has been performing ever since and continues to entertain fans nightly in Waikiki.

Trias vaulted to international fame as a finalist on the 2004 “American Idol” show.  The 17-year-old Millilani native auditioned for the show at Aloha Stadium with more than 3,000 other hopefuls.  Currently a student at Maryknoll High School, she splits her time between school and recording her debut album in Los Angeles.  For her Pro Bowl performance, Trias will sing a new rendition of the 70’s hit, “Walking On Sunshine, recorded especially for this year’s halftime show.  She will be joined on the field by more than 800 dancers from across the United States.

“We are pleased to celebrate Hawaiian music and dance with our halftime show,” said MICHAEL OLMSTEAD, whose entertainment and special events company e2k Sports is producing its 14th Pro Bowl pregame and halftime show.  “By pairing icons and legends, we will cross a generational bridge linking music and football fans of all ages.”

The Hawaiian music and dance tradition has been carried on over the centuries by local artists who have combined the ancient music and dance of the indigenous people of the Islands with modern rhythms and musical styles.  Today, people around the world enjoy the unique sounds of Hawai’ian performers.  This year, for the first time, the importance of this distinct musical heritage has been confirmed by the inclusion of a Hawai’ian Music category in the Grammy Awards.

"Moose great report BUT???? Ashley Lelie ? I'm a Broncos #1 fan as you know but I feel you are a Bit bias there Moose seeing he is from your #1 NCAA team Hawaii ? No Terrell Owens ?? You must be kidding me?? Darren Bennett my mate from Australia who I like a lot after meeting and interviewed the champ several times? He hasn't had a huge number of Punts with the Vikings but I hope you are correct. great to see you picked Peyton Manning the Champ who you regularly rip into." Myk Aussie

"Myk Aussie the responses below show you why you need me. 1) Yes, Ashley Lelie. He has more catches than Rod Smith and more TDs as well. It would have been bias by me if I picked BOTH!

2) Terrell Owens, unless you live under a rock, is out for the 'year with ankle surgery. How then could he play in the Pro Bowl, let alone the Super Bowl, which I doubt the Eagles will make anyway. If you are trying to say I picked Lelie OVER Owens, no I didn't simply because Lelie is AFC not NFC, where Owens plays. Thank god you didn't give me any flack about your boy Randy (three drops per game) Moss. I think there are nine CFL and six Arena WRs better than that windbag! At least they don't drop passes!

3) Darren Bennett may not have 'many' punts as you say, but he leads THE ENTIRE NFL with punts inside the 20 and 10 yard lines. How do think the Vikes get good filed position? He also has the second Highest NET punting average - meaning yards after punt return yardage - IN the League, to Tom Tupa, who I also picked for the Pro Bowl. Both can also play punter, as someone will have to on both AFC / NFC squads, Feb. 13th in Honolulu. Any more Q's?!" Moose out!

"OK yes you are right I suppose Terrell is injured I didn't think of that one. Hope you are right with Darren Bennett. Rod Smith, my favorite Bronco and a MYKwebTV and Football Fan Frenzy the movie star I firmly believe has had a better year than Ashley Lelie." Myk Aussie

Fri, Dec 19, 2003 "AFC - Chiefs & Ravens post NFL high eight players on All Star squad! NFC - Rams lead NFC with five players, twelve 1st time NFC selections!" Myk Aussie

From nflmedia. Eight Kansas City Chiefs, three of whom are honored as NFL All-Stars for the first time, and eight Baltimore Ravens, including four first-time Pro Bowl performers, top the American Football Conference for the most players from one team on the 2004 Pro Bowl squad that will face the National Football Conference All-Stars, the NFL announced today.

The Pro Bowl starting lineups will be announced on ABC-TV on Wild Card Saturday, January 3.

The 2004 Pro Bowl -- the 25th played in Honolulu, Hawaii – kicks off at 2:30 PM HT on Sunday, February 8 and will be broadcast live by ESPN and CBS Radio at 7:30 PM ET.

The Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans will send four players each to Hawaii.  Represented by three players are the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Nineteen AFC players were selected for the first time, the most since 21 AFC Pro Bowl newcomers in the 1999 season.

Three NFL Europe League veterans are Pro Bowl-bound – Dallas interior lineman LA’ROI GLOVER (Barcelona, 1997), Kansas City return specialist DANTE HALL (Scotland, 2001) and Green Bay guard MARCO RIVERA (Scotland, 1997).

The 42-man AFC squad is comprised of 21 offensive and 17 defensive players plus four specialists.  A 43rd “need” player will be chosen by the AFC head coach and must be a linebacker, defensive end, cornerback or long-snapper.

The NFL is the only professional sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players in determining its all-star teams.  The consensus vote of each group counts one-third towards the total.  Each team submits two ballots – those of the coach and the players with no one permitted to vote for a player on his own team.  The NFL became the first professional sports league to offer online voting in 1995.

This year, a record 55 million votes were cast by fans on NFL.com in voting sponsored by Motorola and AT&T Wireless.  Fans were able to vote at more than 1,000 AT&T Wireless stores nationwide.

Three quarterbacks are named to each Pro Bowl squad.  Chosen for the 2004 game are Kansas City’s TRENT GREEN, who will play in his first Pro Bowl and leads the AFC with five 300-yard passing games; Indianapolis’ PEYTON MANNING, who is 99 yards away from becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in five consecutive seasons; and first-time Pro Bowler STEVE MC NAIR of Tennessee, who leads the NFL with a 102.4 passer rating and is the franchise’s first All-Star quarterback since WARREN MOON in 1994.  McNair led all NFL All-Stars in fan balloting with 869,189 votes.

Joining the quarterbacks in the offensive backfield are PRIEST HOLMES of the Chiefs, JAMAL LEWIS of the Ravens and CLINTON PORTIS of the Denver Broncos.  Holmes earns his third consecutive All-Star selection while NFL rushing leader Lewis (1,747) and Portis will make their first trips to Hawaii.  The Chiefs’ TONY RICHARDSON also earns his first All-Star distinction as the AFC’s fullback in his ninth NFL season.

Two of the AFC’s three tackles hail from the top two clubs in the North as WILLIE ANDERSON of the Cincinnati Bengals becomes the second All-Star tackle in team history (Pro Football Hall of Famer ANTHONY MUÑOZ, 1981-91) along with Baltimore’s JONATHAN OGDEN, who was named to the AFC squad for the seventh consecutive season.  Kansas City’s WILLIE ROAF was selected for his ninth Pro Bowl and his second consecutive appearance on the AFC roster.  Also on the offensive line is a trio of guards which returns for its third consecutive All-Star appearance as a group: RUBEN BROWN of the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh’s ALAN FANECA, and WILL SHIELDS of Kansas City.  Shields will make his ninth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, while Brown claims his eighth in a row and Faneca his third in a row.  Kansas City’s Roaf and Shields share the most seniority among AFC All-Stars with nine career Pro Bowl selections apiece.

At center, both the New York Jets’ KEVIN MAWAE and Denver’s TON NALEN were selected to their fifth Pro Bowl team.

Rounding out the AFC offense are tight ends TONY GONZALEZ of Kansas City, who makes his fifth consecutive appearance, and Baltimore’s TODD HEAP, who arrives in Hawaii for the second straight year.  Gonzalez leads all NFL tight ends in touchdowns (10) and Heap is the league’s only tight end to top his team in receptions (55).  The AFC’s wide receivers are MARVIN HARRISON of Indianapolis, Cincinnati’s CHAD JOHNSON, DERRICK MASON of Tennessee, and Pittsburgh’s HINES WARD.  Harrison’s selection is his fifth consecutive honor.  Johnson, the conference’s receiving- yards leader (1,211) travels to Hawaii for the first time.  Mason is an All-Star for the first time as a receiver after playing for the AFC as a kick returner in 2001.  Ward, who leads the conference with 87 receptions, now has three All-Star distinctions to tie JOHN STALLWORTH and LYNN SWANN for the most by a Steelers wide receiver.

Joining Baltimore’s three offensive players are four defenders and the AFC’s special teams player: outside linebacker PETER BOULWARE, inside linebacker RAY LEWIS, cornerback CHRIS MC ALISTER, strong safety ED REED and special teamer ADALIUS THOMAS.  McAlister, Reed and Thomas are first-time All-Stars while Boulware notches his fourth Pro Bowl trip and Lewis his sixth consecutive honor.

All three AFC defensive ends claim their first All-Star recognition.  SHAUN ELLIS of the Jets marks the third consecutive year that a Jet has earned an All-Star defensive end slot (JOHN ABRAHAM, 2002-03).  In his second NFL season, Indianapolis’ DWIGHT FREENEY becomes the first Colts All-Star defensive lineman to play in Hawaii and is the first Indianapolis defensive end to represent the AFC since 1977 when both MIKE BARNES and JOHN DUTTON made the team.  Lastly, AFC sack leader ADEWALE OGUNLEYE (13.0) of the Dolphins is one of four Miami defenders to play in the 50th state this year.

The New England Patriots’ RICHARD SEYMOUR makes his second consecutive Pro Bowl team and joins fellow interior defensive lineman CASEY HAMPTON of Pittsburgh and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ MARCUS STROUD.  Both Hampton and Stroud are first-time AFC All-Stars.

Joining Baltimore linebackers Boulware and Lewis are first-time Pro Bowl selections KEITH BULLUCK of Tennessee and Buffalo’s TAKEO SPIKES on the outside and ZACH THOMAS of Miami inside.  This will be Thomas’ fifth consecutive All-Star Game.

Teaming with the Ravens’ McAlister and Reed in the AFC defensive backfield are cornerbacks TY LAW of New England and AFC interception leader PATRICK SURTAIN (7) of Miami.  This is Law’s fourth Pro Bowl and Surtain’s second.  Earning the two free safety spots are Miami’s three-time All-Star BROCK MARION and the Chiefs’ JEROME WOODS, who is a Pro Bowl newcomer.  Woods is Kansas City’s first safety to play in the game since DERON CHERRY in 1989.

Completing the AFC’s roster of specialists with the Chiefs’ Hall and the Ravens’ Thomas are punter CRAIG HENTRICH of Tennessee and Indianapolis kicker MIKE VANDERJAGT.  Hentrich and Hall reach Hawaii for the second time while this is Vanderjagt’s first Pro Bowl.  Hentrich has placed 23 of 61 punts (37.7 percent) inside his opponents’ 20-yard line and ranks second in the conference with a 37.1-yard net average.  Hall has tied the NFL single-season record with four kicks returned for touchdowns, and Vanderjagt, who has made 38 consecutive field goals, is three away from claiming the longest such streak in NFL history.

The American Football Conference defeated the National Conference 45-20 in last season’s Pro Bowl, holds a 17-16 advantage in the series, and has won the past three games.  The 2004 coaching staff will be from the AFC Championship Game runner-up team.

The selected players with the most votes at each position are the designated starters, and will be announced on January 3.  Under terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, each player on the winning Pro Bowl team receives $35,000, while each player on the losing squad earns $17,500.

FIRST-TIME SELECTIONS ON NFC ROSTER
ALL 16 NFC TEAMS SEND PLAYERS TO PRO BOWL

The NFC West-champion St. Louis Rams had an NFC-high five players voted to the National Football Conference All-Star team that will face the American Football Conference All-Stars in the 2004 Pro Bowl – the 25th game in the series to be played in Honolulu, Hawaii – the NFL announced today.

The Pro Bowl starting lineups will be announced during the Wild Card playoff games on Saturday, January 3 on ABC-TV.

All 16 NFC teams had at least one player selected to the game, only the fifth time since 1990 that has happened (AFC in 1990 Pro Bowl; NFC in 1991; and AFC-NFC, 2002).  The Dallas Cowboys, contending for their first playoff berth since 1999, and the Minnesota Vikings, in the thick of the race for the NFC North championship, will be represented by four players each.

Twelve NFC players will participate in their first Pro Bowl, including one of the NFL’s most exciting rookies, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver ANQUAN BOLDIN.  A second-round selection from Florida State, Boldin has 86 receptions and needs five catches to pass TERRY GLENN (90) for the most by a rookie in NFL history.  He is the lone rookie selection to the 2004 Pro Bowl.

Three NFL Europe League veterans are Pro Bowl-bound – Dallas interior lineman LA’ROI GLOVER (Barcelona, 1997), Kansas City return specialist DANTE HALL (Scotland, 2001) and Green Bay guard MARCO RIVERA (Scotland, 1997).

The Pro Bowl – will be played for the 25th consecutive year at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.  The game kicks off at 2:30 PM (HT) on Sunday, February 8, and will be broadcast live at 7:30 PM ET by ESPN and CBS Radio.

The 42-man NFC squad is comprised of 21 offensive and 17 defensive players plus four specialists.  A 43rd “need” player will be chosen by the NFC head coach and must be a cornerback, defensive end, linebacker, or long snapper.

The NFL is the only professional sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players in determining its all-star teams.  The consensus vote of each group counts one-third towards the total.  Each team submits two ballots – those of the coach and the players with no one permitted to vote for a player on his own team.

This year, a record 55 million votes were cast by fans on NFL.com in voting sponsored by Motorola and AT&T Wireless.  Fans were also able to cast votes at more than 1,000 AT&T Wireless stores nationwide.

Green Bay quarterback BRETT FAVRE, who has 341 career touchdown passes and needs two to pass FRAN TARKENTON (342) for second-most in NFL history, has been selected to his eighth Pro Bowl.  That ties him with tackle LARRY ALLEN of Dallas and strong safety AENEAS WILLIAMS of St. Louis for the most All-Star selections on the NFC squad.

Joining Favre at quarterback for the NFC will be a pair of Pro Bowl veterans.  Minnesota’s DAUNTE CULPEPPER, the NFC’s leading passer (95.9), makes his second appearance, while Philadelphia’s DONOVAN MC NABB is Hawaii-bound for the fourth consecutive year.

At running back, New Orleans’ DEUCE MC ALLISTER makes his second consecutive All-Star appearance.  McAllister leads the NFC with 1,542 yards rushing and 1,989 yards from scrimmage.  Joining him in the backfield is Carolina’s STEPHEN DAVIS, who makes his third Pro Bowl appearance and has rushed for a franchise-record 1,387 yards, and Green Bay’s AHMAN GREEN, a two-time All-Star choice who eclipsed JIM TAYLOR (1,474, 1962) as the Packers’ all-time leader in single-season rushing yards, gaining 1,538 through 14 games.

Paving the way for the running backs is San Francisco fullback FRED BEASLEY, who will make his first All-Star appearance.

Three veteran All-Star wide receivers join Boldin in Hawaii.  St. Louis’ TORRY HOLT, the NFC receiving leader with 102 catches and 1,518 yards, makes his third trip.  San Francisco’s TERRELL OWENS, who with 1,082 receiving yards has reached 1,000 for the fifth time, earned his fourth All-Star selection.  Minnesota’s RANDY MOSS is a five-time choice, and with 99 receptions is on the verge of his second consecutive 100-catch season.

Atlanta Falcons tight end ALGE CRUMPLER has been voted to the Pro Bowl for the first time.  Crumpler has eight receptions of 20-yards-or-more this season, tops among NFC tight ends.  Joining Crumpler is New York Giants tight end JEREMY SHOCKEY, who makes his second consecutive appearance.

Bears center OLIN KREUTZ, a Hawaii native, makes his third consecutive trip home as an All-Star, joined by Minnesota center MATT BIRK, also a three-time choice.  First-time guard LE CHARLES BENTLEY of New Orleans joins veterans Allen and Rivera, who is making his second consecutive appearance.

The tackle position will be manned by a pair of Pro Bowl veterans and one impressive first-timer.  Seattle’s WALTER JONES makes his fourth trip while St. Louis’ ORLANDO PACE his fifth.  The newcomer at tackle is Dallas’ FLOZELL ADAMS, a sixth-year pro from Michigan State.

On defense, three of the NFC’s top sack leaders will look to ply their specialty on the AFC.  Tampa Bay defensive end SIMEON RICE, the NFC sack leader with 15.0, is a three-time All-Star, while New York’s MICHAEL STRAHAN, second in the conference with 14.0 sacks, makes his sixth appearance.  LEONARD LITTLE of the Rams, tied for third in the conference with 12.0 sacks, makes his first Pro Bowl trip.

Dallas’ Glover, Carolina’s KRIS JENKINS and Tampa Bay’s WARREN SAPP are the NFC’s interior linemen.  Glover has been selected to his fourth Pro Bowl, Jenkins his second, and Sapp his seventh.

The NFC linebackers return intact for a second consecutive season.  On the outside, Washington’s LA VAR ARRINGTON is a three-time All-Star, Tampa Bay’s DERRICK BROOKS makes his seventh trip and JULIAN PETERSON of San Francisco his second.  On the inside, linebacker KEITH BROOKING of Atlanta makes his third appearance, and BRIAN URLACHER of Chicago his fourth.

Detroit cornerback DRÉ BLY has a career-high tying six interceptions and will play in his first Pro Bowl.  Joining him are five-time All-Star TROY VINCENT of the Philadelphia Eagles and four-time choice CHAMP BAILEY of Washington.

The NFL’s leading interceptor, Minnesota’s COREY CHAVOUS, is the NFC strong safety.  Chavous, who has helped the Vikings to an NFL-high 25 pickoffs this season, is a first-time All-Star.  Also making his first voyage to Hawaii is Dallas’ second-year free safety ROY WILLIAMS, who joins St. Louis’ Aeneas Williams at the position.

Three of the four NFC specialists – St. Louis kicker JEFF WILKINS, Chicago kick return specialist JERRY AZUMAH and Seattle special teamer ALEX BANNISTER – will make their first Pro Bowl appearances.  Carolina punter TODD SAUERBRUN makes his third trip to Hawaii.

The American Football Conference defeated the National Conference 45-20 in last season’s Pro Bowl and holds a 17-16 advantage in the series.  The 2004 coaching staff will be from the NFC Championship Game runner-up team.

Pro Bowl Report - 2003
By: Rich Moose Salzer

Myk Aussie & I enjoyed ourselves immensely yesterday at the 2003 Pro Bowl here in beautiful Honolulu, almost as much as the AFC, in their 45-20 win over the National Football all-stars.  It was extremely hot on the field as Myk & I spend most of the 1st half on the NFC side, filming & interviewing cheerleaders.  A special Mahalo to all the young ladies who braved the heat & our questions. Oh, yea, there was a game played as well & the AFC came out smokin' early on & scored quickly & often.

Ricky Williams, Miami runner who broke Larry Csonka's seemingly unbeatable single season rushing mark, had some fun comments following the game that he won MVP in. Williams played on the kickoff coverage teams but didn't have much luck like the rest of his AFC mates in controlling former Arena league star, N.O. KR Michael Lewis from setting the alltime Pro Bowl return yardage record(s). That and a seven-lateral kick return play @ the end of the 1st half plus the passing of Brad Johnson were the only highlights for the NFC.

Oakland QB Rich Gannon, gunning for his 3rd straight MVP, threw 3 TDs & he or Michael Lewis could easily have been MVPs themselves. The matchup of Super Bowl QBs, Brad Johnson & Rich Gannon was pretty good. Gannon was 12 of 18 for 102 yds & 3 TDs. Johnson was 13 of 18 for 119 yds, 2 TDs.
Only Manning (5 of 11 w/ an int.) & Red Garcia (4 of 12 w/ 3 ints) struggled. Williams lead all ball carriers on the ground w/ 11 carries for 56 yds & 2 TDs, 3 catches for 18 yds & 1 special tackle. The AFC set a Pro Bowl record w/ 6 ints.

In other NFL news this week, our European mates tell us that NFL E (aaa) camp in Tampa, Fla. will start in five weeks. Huddle magazine & the Rheinplaz newspaper will have folks there to cover it. Moose will stay
in touch w/ them as Miki Yokota from Japan's Pro Touchdown magazine. Feb. is the NFL & CFL free agent signings deadline as well as matching offers from other teams.  The scouting combine in Indianapolis will
take place in two weeks, w/ former Winnipeg coach Cal Murphy representing the Colts where former CFL & Ar.FL K Mike Vanderjagt plays. Aloha & Mahalo to our mates we met this trip & the NFL for the media
passes, even though the security people were jerks. And to the best damn Sports Radio crew in Honolulu @ AM 1500, Super Bowl Wayne, Scott, Randy & John Miro. What a trip! Can't wait until next yr. w/ new turf @ Aloha. Moose Salzer, MYKwebTV Sportscaster.
