From Wed Feb 24. Another Gold for Canada! Canadian Freestyle Skier Cwoc (Cool Woman Of Canada) Ashleigh McIvor wins the Gold Medal in the Women's Ski Cross!
Congratulations to Ashleigh who is from British Columbia Canada. What a great new Winter Olympics event the Ski Cross is. It's one of my favourite events to watch, very exciting. USA's Shaun White wins Gold again in the Men's Snowboard Halfpipe event!
This was one of my favourite moments of the games so far, watching Shaun White the reigning Gold Medallist win again in the Mens Snowboard Halfpipe. Yeh! Canada wins it's 2nd Gold Medal as Maelle Ricker wins the Women's Snowboard Cross! What a great event the Snowboard Cross is to watch!
Maelle Ricker of British Columbia Canada was one of the favourites coming into the event and she won by a big margin. The Silver Medal went to Deborah Anthonioz of France and the Bronze to Olivia Nobs of Switzerland. Alexandre Bilodeau was on Monday night presented with his Gold Medal in front of 22,000 mainly Canadian''s at Pammy's BC Place in downtown Vancouver. On Sunday Alexandre Bilodeau wins Canada's first Gold Medal on home soil/snow in the Men's Moguls Freestyle Skiing event at Cypress Mountain defeating the very controversial Aussie/CDN Dale Begg-Smith!
What a great event the Mogul Skiing is to watch. Alexandre skied the Moguls brilliantly and had 2 great jumps to defeat the 2006 Golf Medal winner Dale Begg-Smith the very controversial Aussie/CDN. Dale won the Silver Medal. Dale will not talk to the Canadian Media. He did a interview for the Australian Media only. Why? Type in Dale Begg-Smith in Google and have a read about his history of questionable online activities and how he made lots of money millions apparently on the Internet several years ago. Hmmmm, I presume he only talks to the Australian Media as they won't ask him about this.

Dale is a brilliant Mogul Skier but sadly today the Morning Herald said there was a ''clear feeling among the Australian camp that Begg-Smith had put down the better run but that the judges had been swayed by a raucous and parochial crowd.'' I am no Mogul expert but I agree that Alexandre was the Gold Medal winner as he pulled off a jump of higher difficulty than Dale and he skied a near perefct run.

The Medal ceremonies were done tonight Monday night at Pammy's BC Place. Dale must have had mixed feelings in front of a crowd of 22,000 mostly Canadians. As many Canadian's are very polite the crowd did applaud Dale however I believe not as loud as the Bronze Medalist Bryon Wilson from the USA. As a guy that runs a honest Internet business I have to say I have had mixed feelings tha past days in regards to Dale Begg-Smith the Canadian that left Canada as a teenager to ski in Australia and apparently run his business and who then became a Australian Citizen. Dale also now apparently lives in Vancouver. I am glad Alexandre Bilodeau won the Gold Medal. He seems like a terrific guy and the story of how his older brother who is handicapped has been his inspiration is facsinating. Being the 1st Canadian to win a Gold Medal on home soil/snow Alexandre Bilodeau is now a National hero. Hannah Kearney of the USA won the Gold Medal while Shannon Bahrke also of the USA won the Bronze Medal.

Mike Robinson from Canada wins the Silver Medal in the amazing Snowboard Cross behind the reigning Gold Medalist Seth Wescott of the USA!
Wow, what a great race this was as 4 guys race down Cypress Mountain at once. Mike had a good lead at about the 1/2 way mark but then Seth came back to hit the front. From Fri Feb 12. Very sad tragic news as Georgian Luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died in practice on Friday! The 21st Winter Olympics have begun in Vancouver and Whistler Canada! It was a great Opening Ceremony!
The death of Luger Nodar Kumaritashvili of the Republic of Georgia on Friday was tragic. It was horrific footage that was shown on Canadian TV on Friday afternoon just hours before the Opening Ceremony at BC Place. During practice Nodar flew out of his Luge on the last corner and smashed into a steel pole. It is believed he died instantly on impact if not shortly afterwards. The Opening Ceremony at Pammy's BC Place was a briliant spectacle. A great new Surfing documentary called "Bustin Down the Door"!
I attended the premiere of a great Surfing documentary called "Bustin Down the Door" in Calgary recently. I firmly believe this documentary would make a great movie. Growing up in South Australia, doing some surfing and also seeing these surfing stars in the magazines in the 70-90's I enjoyed this surfing documentary immensely. It revolves around a true story of how some Aussie Surfers and Shaun Tomson from South Africa changed the Surfing World in Hawaii’s North Shore of Oahu. Some of their lives were also threatened as a result. I talked about this documentary today on 5AA radio with Jeff Burzacott.

Below is a email I received from Shaun Tomson who is the Legend South African Surfer and along with Rabbit Bartholomew and Mark Richards is one of the stars of the documentary.

Waimea Bay, Oha'u, Hawai'i - The World's best surfers are eagerly awaiting the chance to handle the dangers of the 'Eddie' competition. The Surf Meet was started in 1985 at Oah'u's North Shore. California surfer Pete Mel describes the meet as quiet "and then the sound of a car wreck", as a surfer gets swallowed up by the 20 to 30 foot high waves. The Competition, originally named for lost Hawai'ian surfer Eddie Aikau, is officially called the Quicksilver Big Wave Invitational in memory of Aikau. Sometimes the surfer goes airborne after being completely under the water in the curls that turn into the water in their circular motion. Aikau disappeared in 1978 when a voyaging canoe overturned (the Hokylea) and he paddled out to help. He was never seen again.

This year's competition will include two three time winners in Andy Irons and Kelly Slater, who is rumored to be dating Pamela Anderson, who recently divorced 'Kid Rock'. Slater dated Anderson for three months six years ago following Anderson's divorce from Tommy Lee, the former Motely Crue bassist." Michele DeWalt

What the guys will do when on a surfing holiday to feel at home in Aussie! Not sure where Roo's coach Troy Rose is, maybe he is out surfing the magnificent wave. I have heard great things about holidaying in Costa Rica.

Wow I surprised myself after making the obstacle course I was thinking I was going to make it through the Ice Cold water. Looking good at this stage as I go from Snow Skiing to Water Skiing.
