It's Friday morning in Adelaide and I'm watching the Kiwi's vs the Aussies in the 1st Test Cricket match. I'm waiting to hear/see the Sheep guys in the crowd rip into Michael Clarke. Hmmm shouldn't he have dumped the model Lara Bingle over the phone and not fly back to Aussie to do it thus leaving his team and missing two of the one day games? Good on him for dumping her though.

The engaged couple have hit the news huge here in Australia since Lara Bingle's nude photo scandal. A few years ago her ex-boyfriend Brendan Fevola the AFL Full Forward for the Brisbane Lions took photos showing Bingle in the shower. These were published in a magazine last week. She is now suing him for distributing the pics and obviously upset she got dumped by the star cricketer. Do a Google search on "Michael Clarke Lara Bingle" to check out the dumped hotty.

Aussie Andrew Symonds takes out a streaker at the Gabba in Brisbane, Australia with a Aussie Rules Footy style bump with some elbow! Watch it now! 
This story made Canadian Sports News tonight as the guys were talking about it on The Score TV.  The streaker Robert Ogilvie 26 was fined $1,390 by the court. He pleaded guilty saying he was dared to run onto the Gabba field naked by his friends and he said it felt "great" to be crunched by Symonds. The Crazy Aussie. No doubt he had lots of Crazy Aussie beer in his guts to do this. Probably that XXXX beer.

Dipper with the Calgary Kangaroo's at the Saturday night 06 US Footy Natl's function in Las Vegas. Dipper was a star all weekend. He enjoyed playing a made up cricket game with the guys on the Sunday. From left Roo's coach Troy Rose, Dipper the Champ, Roo's defender Mat Toohey, Kristen Judge the Roo's forward and 05 B&F winner. Judgey's on location World Cup Final report!
"Myk, just left Barbados this morning. It was an amazing final for both the cricket and the circumstances. We rocked up at the ground at 9 only to get rained on all morning until about lunch time. Most people thought the game would be abandoned and re-scheduled for the next day but the sun came out and they announced a reduced 38 over game was on.

The Aussies started slowly but Adam Gilchrist soon found his touch and played one of the best one day innings I've ever witnessed. 149 of the best and an absolutely classic Gilchrist innings when the Aussies needed it most. The 280 odd the Aussies posted was looking good until Jayasuriya and Sangakarra started teeing off. the crowd was pretty evenly spread and the ground was absolutely pumping as the Sri Lankans started getting us a little nervous. That was until Brad Hogg came on and stemmed the flow of runs and got Jayasuriya caught at mid wicket. Michael Clarke came on for one over and bowled Sangakarra with a grubber and we were back on top.

Totally bizarre circumstances to finish the game though. the light was basically gone with 3 overs left to be bowled. We couldn't see the ball at all in the crowd. If you were playing cricket in the park with your mates, you would have been back home and probably polished off a six pack by equivalent time but they kept playing. Sri Lanka eventually conceded to the light and the 20+ runs per over required only to be told that they had to come back tomorrow and face three overs. Tom Moody, the Sri Lankan coach told them to go out and play the three overs out in absolute darkness. The crowd had no idea what was happening and were well into the celebrations before they came back out but got to celebrate again 3 overs later!! it was a strange finish but we loved it none the less and I'm sure it will be remembered for a long time. the Caribbean is truly an awesome place to visit and the people were amazingly friendly and great fun to party with and party we did. I'm sure there's more than a few sore heads this morning...Cheers" Judgey

From Sun April 29. Australia wins the World Cup defeating Sri Lanka by 53 runs! We retain the tile!
Wow! We won it again! This is great! I've been watching the web site all day and after Australia scored a whopping 281 runs for 4 out off of 38 overs I believed it would be hard for Sri Lanka to match that total. The Sri Lankan's scored 215 with 8 out. Australia winning by 53 runs.

What about Aussie opening batsman, Adam Gilchrist effort, he scored 149 runs off of 104 balls to set up the victory. A Strike rate of 143.27, Wow!

The victorious Australian team was: Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist (W), Ricky Ponting (C), Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, Michael Hussey, Shane Watson, Brad Hogg, Nathan Bracken, Shaun Tait, Glenn McGrath

Fri, April 27 07 "Aussies to play Sri Lanka in "Finally' the World Cup Final! Judgey's on location World Cup report! AFL Champ Dipper on Cricket MYKwebTV!" Myk Aussie

In one semi final South Africa were all out for 149. Australia scored 153 runs with 3 out off of 31.2 overs. A hammering! Glen McGrath the legend Aussie fast bowler was man of the match.

In the other semi final Sri Lanka scored 289 runs with 5 out and then bowled out the Kiwi's for 208. Seems the sheep in New Zealand can relax a bit knowing the Kiwi guys won't be celebrating as they apparently do or maybe they take out their frustrations on the sheep. Not sure on that.

After many weeks The Final of the World Cup "Finally" is tomorrow. Go Aussies!

Thurs, April 19 07 "The World Cup Semi Finals start next week, finally! The Semi Finals games are all set! South Africa hammer the Pom's, England and thus the Pom's are out! West Indies are out as well! Judgey's on location World Cup report! Aussies to play the Kiwi Sheep guys in a meaningless final Super 8 match!" Myk Aussie

Tues April 17.
The Pommies were all out for 154 off 48.0 overs. South Africa scored 157 for 1 out off of 19.2 overs! Wow! that's a run rate of 8.12. The Pom's are now going home back to England and no doubt crying a bit, saddened to be out of the World Cup and saddened to go home to miserable England after being in the West Indies the past weeks.

I wish I was down there in the West Indies. Judgey, Gonads and Beau the Aussie guys from the Calgary Kangaroo's have made it to the West Indies for the World Cup. Below is a report from Kristian Judge the 05 Roo's Best and Fairest winner and a very good cricketer from Western Australia.

From Tues April 17. "Myk we're down here. Aussie boys are looking good. Will probably go through undefeated which will be the first time ever. Got a big match on Friday against the kiwis though who are shaping up as our biggest threat. We went to the match yesterday against Sri Lanka. Awesome bowling display by Bracken who was almost unplayable. Ended up with 4 wickets. Shaun Tait got spanked but Ponting persisted with him bringing him back on whenever wickets fell.

One disappointing element of the game was the Sri Lankans resting three of their strike bowlers, Murali, Vaas and Malinga probably because they didn't want to beat us and end up having to square off in the semi's. A bit strange to me.

Anyway that's the short lowdown. I'll flick you another report as things progress.

Big game today England v South Africans. Winner will probably be in the semi's. Windies aren't out either if the Pom's win today. Cheers" Judgey

On Tues April 24 2nd will play 3rd, it will be the Kiwi Sheep guys from New Zealand vs the Sri Lankan's. On Wednesday April 25 1st will play 4th, it will be the Aussie's vs the South African's.

Seems the World Cup is dragging on a bit.  The Aussie's are on top of the Super 8's with 5 wins and 0 loses. Followed by the Kiwi Sheep guys, the Sri Lankan's and then the South African's.

The Pommies are currently 5th followed by the West Indians in 6th, the Bangladeshians in 7th and the Irish are in 8th spot. That's all I got to say seeing it seems like ages ago that this World Cup started and it's not even to the semi finals yet.

"Australia finally defend a total! England go through to the Super8. Bob Woolmer's death!" Arif Imran Kant

After seeing New Zealand and South Africa chase down huge totals against this Australian team, many would have bet their money on the South African team. However, the Aussies came back with a vengeance in this crucial clash of the titans. It all began with Mathew Hayden which seemed to have found the touch of yester years where he would be able to muscle the ball anywhere he liked. He eventually went to make the fastest century, beating the record made by our very own John Davison by a one ball. However, the most crucial innings was of Ponting and Clarke, unlike the South Africans, these two were able to pace their innings amazingly well. They first picked up singles and doubles, as soon as they were settled at the crease, they were not afraid to improvise and hit the bowlers out of the ground. These three players and a flat pitch were pivotal in making sure Australia scored their highest World Cup score, 377.

When the South African innings began, it seemed the match was going to follow a similar pattern to last time these two teams met in Johannesburg, where South Africa successfully chased down a mammoth 434. De Villiers seemed intent on taking the Australians to the cleaner until he was run out by a great throw from Shane Watson from the boundary, he was on 92 at the time. However, the South African were in a great position, they were 160 from 21 overs and cruising, until Smith was retired hurt on 72. From there, the Australian juggernaut never let go. They controlled the match and brought up the required run rate to above 10 with the help of some intelligent bowling from Watson and Hogg, and some slow batting from Kallis. The big difference in the sides was the pace of Tait, who fired it in at around 150 mph, and completely stopped the South African innings when he yorked Boucher and had Kemp lbw. After that, even Smith returning could not turn the tide in favour of South Africa and Australia won by a whopping 83 runs.

England go through to the Super 8!
England were thoroughly professional in their approach against Kenya as they beat them by 7 wickets. After much delay the match began with 43 overs in each with Steve Tikolo choosing to bat first. However the semi-finalist from the last World Cup could not even put up a fight, they succumbed to a strong bowling line-up including Anderson and Freddie Flintoff. They only managed a meager 178 thanks to a fighting 76 from their captain, Tikolo. England got those runs with ease as Joyce and Pieterson let lose on a weak attack. Joyce played some splendid shots in his 75, while Pieterson was more sedate in his 56 not out. There is only one spot left on the Super8, and that will be decided with the Bangladesh vs. Bermuda match, however I expect the Tigers to brush them aside and make make history in the Super8 by surprising a few teams with their spirit and growth under Dav Whatmore.

Myk glad to hear that you will talk about Bob Woolmer's death on Sports Rage. I think gambling gangs are involved. Once during world cup they kidnap Pakistan Captain Waseem Akram family forcing him to loss the match. I think there must be ban on gambling on Cricket matches to control those guys." Sat, Mar 24 07 "Aussies win Big over Sth Africa! Talking World Cup of Cricket last night on Gabriel Morency's Sports Rage now on Sirius Satellite radio! Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer is thought to have been strangled! Dipper on Cricket MYKwebTV!" Myk Aussie

With the possible murder of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer by strangulation being the Big story on Sports radio yesterday in Nth America Gabriel Morency's producer called me up yesterday afternoon to see if I would come on Sports Rage to talk World Cup of Cricket. Morency knows I love promoting this great game to his CDN and USA audience.

Morency loved it when I said that the Kiwi guys were out celebrating with their "Sheep" girlfriends after defeating Canada and making it through to the Super 8. Refer below. I also talked about Canada's very good effort in the World Cup.

Morency stated that Australia and Sth Africa were the favorites in betting circles. I of course suggested Australia should repeat as Champions. Aussies had a Big win today over Sth Africa. scoring 377 with 6 out in 50 overs. Sth Africa replied with 294 all out off of 48 overs thus as 83 run win. Here's the game results. Click here

Left: Arif Imran Kant my Pakistani/Canadian mate. Although Arif did not say this to me on email this week from Anchorage he must be devastated that Pakistan is out of the World Cup. Right: Looks like this Kiwi guy was out and about with his girlfriend last night happy after New Zealand defeated Canada yesterday. I often rip into the Kiwis' in my Mates Club columns.

The Irish defeating Pakistan in Cricket is like Australia beating Canada in Ice Hockey! Talk about the luck of the Irish, this happened on St Paddy's day.

On Sat March 17, Pakistan were all out for scored 132 runs off 45.4 overs. Ireland then scored 133 with 7 out off 41.4 overs to have what must surely be the Biggest win ever in Irish Cricket history.

On Tuesday I asked Arif if their coach died of a heart attack or was there suspicious circumstances. Now the reports are saying it was a suspicious death.

The Kiwi's are happy as they defeat Canada!
Yesterday Mar 22 The New Zealand Kiwi Sheep scored 363 with 5 out of 50 overs. The Canucks, Canada scored a very respectable 249 with  9 out  off of 49.2 overs.

On Mar 18, the reigning Champions the Aussie's hammered the Netherlands by 229 runs as they should.

The World Cup of Cricket!
Can the Aussies the reigning Champions again win this event? Absolutely! Can the Canadians? Not a chance but it's great that Canada is in this event. In 2003, the last World Cup at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg South Africa, Australia defeated India by a massive 125 runs.

Australia's 1st game is on March 14th against the Scottish. The Aussies are in Group A along with South Africa, Scotland and the Netherlands. To check out the Aussie team on the official site of the World Cup Click here

Australia v Pakistan, 2nd Test, Melbourne, 1st day

Pakistan 6 for 318 (Youhana 111, Younis 87, Butt 70) v Australia

An innings of grace, poise and immense character from Yousuf Youhana lit up Melbourne on Boxing Day and allowed Pakistan to hit back in style after their Perth debacle. Youhana struck a classy 111, and along with Younis Khan (87) and Salman Butt (70) lifted Pakistan to 6 for 318 at close of play on the first day.

After being thoroughly outplayed on a bouncy WACA pitch, which starred with Justin Langer’s (Aus) 191 in the first innings, a superb 97 in the second innings, and a record breaking 8 for 24 from McGrath which sealed a 491-run victory for Australia. Apparently, Pakistan's batsmen found the conditions much more to their liking here – there was none of the steepling bounce that characterized that wicket, and Australia's bowlers couldn't obtain much pace or seam movement either. Considering the Australian Batting attack, Pakistan still has major battles to win, if they want to claim victory against the Champions of World Cricket.

Bangladesh v India, 2nd ODI, Dhaka

Bangladesh 229 for 9 (Aftab 67) beat India 214 (Sriram 57, Kaif 50) by 15 runs

Bangladesh pulled off a historic first victory at home and also their first-ever win against India in the hothouse atmosphere of a jam-packed Banghabandhu Stadium at Dhaka, bowling India out for 214 to prevail by 15 runs and thereby level the one-day series. Bangladesh's victory was a real team effort, featuring inspired contributions from several players. They fully deserved their victory, first converting a score of 88 for 5 to a competitive total of 229, and then bowling tightly and excelling in the field to keep India shackled and just behind the game from the very first over of the chase.

New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 1st ODI, Auckland

New Zealand 144 for 3 (Fleming 77*) beat Sri Lanka 141 (Dilshan 48, Jayasuriya 43, Cairns 4-33) by 7 wickets

An innings of 77 off 92 balls from Stephen Fleming carried New Zealand to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first one-dayer at Eden Park in Auckland. Having only 141 to defend, their fourth lowest total in one-day internationals against New Zealand, Sri Lanka found themselves well short of the required bowling firepower. New Zealand surpassed the modest target in only 34 overs.

Earlier, Cairns was able to put his experience to good use to ensure there was no prospect of a Sri Lankan batting revival on the day. His variations complemented the good line he slipped into right from his introduction at the bowling crease. He finished with 4 for 33 from eight overs, while Tuffey marked his return to internationals with 2 for 17 off his eight overs

South Africa v England, 2nd Test, Durban, 1st day

South Africa 70 for 3-trail England 139 (Pollock 4-32) by 69 runs

After being bruised by defeat in the first Test, a battling South Africa came out fighting on Boxing Day at Durban. After winning the toss and fielding, they never let up, blowing England away for 139 and reducing the deficit to 69 for the loss of three wickets by the close. Once Marcus Trescothick fell for 18 in the 10th over, England quickly subsided as Shaun Pollock captured 4-32. Andrew Strauss top-scored with 25 but was out just before lunch, and then four fell in 11 overs after the break. England removed both openers cheaply and had another boost very late in the day when Jacques Rudolph departed to Steve Harmison, who returned 2-20." Arif Imran Kant

I read on the internet there is a new cricket competition starting up in the US. Now that is great news! 

Famous Cricketing Sledges from Garth Kramer Wright.  You've probably heard about them before but they are still worth a read.

1. Trueman and Aussie batsman.
In an England v Australia Test during early 1960's Trueman was fielding close to the gate from the pavilion. As a new batsman came out he turned to shut the gate, Trueman said "Don't bother son, you won't be out there long enough."

2. Rod Marsh and Ian Botham.
When Botham took guard in a Ashes match, Marsh welcomed him to the wicket with the immortal words: "So how's your wife and my kids?"

3. Daryll Cullinan and Shane Warne.
As Cullinan was on his way to the wicket, Warne told him he had been waiting 2 years for another chance to humiliate him. "Looks like you spent it eating," Cullinan retorted.

4. Adam Parore and Daryll Cullinan.
Because Cullinan is well known for being Warne's bunny, New Zealand keeper Parore greeted the South African, carefully playing the first ball from kiwi Chris Harris, with a cry of: "Bowled Warnie!"

5 . Robin Smith and Merv Hughes.
During 1989 Lords Test Hughes said to Smith after he played and missed: "You can't f***ing bat". Smith to Hughes after he smacked him to the boundary: "Hey Merv, we make a fine pair. I can't f***ing bat and you can't f***ing bowl."

7. Merv Hughes and Javed Miandad.
During 1991 Adelaide Test, Javed called Merv a fat bus conductor. A few balls latter Merv dismissed Javed: "Tickets please", Merv called out as he ran past the departing batsman.

8. Merv Hughes and Viv Richards.
During a test match in the West Indies Hughes didn't say a word to Viv, but continued to stare at him after deliveries. "This is my island, my culture. Don't you be staring at me. In my culture we just bowl." Merv didn't reply, but after he dismissed him he announced to the batsman: "In my culture we just say f*** off."

9. Ricky Ponting and Shaun Pollock.
After going past the outside edge with a couple of deliveries, Pollock told Ponting: "It's red, round and weighs about five ounces." Unfortunately for Pollock, the next ball was hammered out of the ground. Ponting to Pollock: "you know what it looks like, now go find it."

10. And of course you can't forget Ian Healy's legendary comment which was picked up by the Channel 9 microphones when Arjuna Ranatunga called for a runner on a particularly hot night during a one dayer in Sydney... "You don't get a runner for being an overweight, unfit, fat c***!!!"

12. In one of the tour matches in South Africa, Australia played Hansie
Cronje's province. Cronje was at the non strikers end, there was a short chubby batsman on strike. Ian Healy yelled to Warne, (I think) "Bowl a Mars Bar half way down...We'll get him stumped" The Aussies and Cronje were all in hysterics. the batsman's retort: "Nah, Boonie fielding at short leg will be onto it before I can move."

Wed, Mar 30 04 "Did you know this about Shane Warne?" Garth Kramer Wright

"Mates when Shane Warne and Simone first got married Shane said, "I am putting a box under the bed. You must promise never to look in it."

In all their 10 years of marriage, Simone had never looked. However, on the afternoon of their 10th anniversary, curiosity got the best
of her and she lifted the lid and peeked inside.

In the box were 3 empty beer cans and $81,874.25 in cash. She closed the box and put it back under the bed. Now that she knew what was in the box, she was doubly curious as to why there even was such a box with such contents.

That evening, they were out for a special anniversary dinner. After dinner, Simone could no longer contain her curiosity and she confessed, saying, "I am so sorry. For all these years, I kept my promise and never looked into the box under our bed. However, today the temptation was too much and I gave in. But now I need to know, why do you keep the 3 beer cans
in the box?"

Shane thought for a while and said, "I guess after all these years you deserve to know the truth. Whenever I was unfaithful to you, I put an empty beer can in the box under the bed to remind myself not to do it again."

Simone was shocked, but said, "I am very disappointed and saddened by your behavior. However, since you are addicted to sex, I guess it does happen and I guess 3 times is not that bad considering your problem."

Shane thanked her for being so understanding. They hugged and made their peace. A little while later Simone asked Shane, "So why do you have all that money in the box?"

Shane answered, "Well, whenever the box filled up with empty cans, I took them to the recycling centre and redeemed them for cash."

Backyard cricket is a great sport in Australia. Here's some rules for you guys in other countries to follow & become great Aussie Backyard cricketers. From my Aussie CDN mate Bazza.

"Myk Aussie & Mates the GENERAL RULES are as follows:

1a. Can't Get Out First Ball: Curious rule introduced to give the token unco clown a reprieve. Smart-arse batsmen use it to hone their reverse sweep; which becomes interesting when smart-arse bowlers use it to hone their beamer.

1b. Caught Behind (auto wikky): Since no one has the desire or the reflexes to stand in the slips cordon, an edge onto the back fence constitutes instant dismissal. Has signaled the death of the late cut.

1c. One Hand, One Bounce: This popular innovation (When a fielder can dismiss a batsman by catching the ball in one hand on the first bounce) is essential to the very fabric of the sport. Importantly, it means a game can be organized with a minimum of players. Note that this rule only applies when the fielder is holding a beer in their other hand.

1d. No LBW: When no umpires are available (or trustworthy), the only option is to can the LBW rule altogether, ensuring cagey batsmen shuffle across the crease as is test driving a Zimmer frame.

1e. Six And Out (Then Fetch It): Introduced to combat space and energy restrictions. It's rumored to have been initiated by a hapless bowler living alongside a pack of Rottweilers.

1f. Standard Over: All veteran backyard bowlers know that the standard length of an over in backyard cricket ranges from anything between 10-12 balls. You only relinquish the bowling duties when questioned by any fielders or opposing team members. But only after the standard response of "Two to Come".

2. ESSENTIAL ITEMS

2a. Esky (Cooler) : Strategically placed at the bowler's end, the esky is the shrine, the fuel, the Richie Benaud of backyard cricket - because it holds the beer.

2b. Balls: A minimum of 3 tennis balls is advised, as there's always some smart-arse who delights in tonking them over the fence (see rule 1e). Advanced exponents use electrical tape around half the ball to give it more swing than Austin Powers.

2c. Dog: Preferable of Kelpie or Heeler extraction, so it can field every ball, including those that disappear under the house or thorny bushes. The downside is that they produce more slobber than a 14 year old male Penthouse reader. The upside is the dog will sleep for 3 days straight afterwards.

2d. Rubbish Bin: It would be nice to think you can clean up your own mess, but in reality the bin makes a perfect set of stumps.

2e. Bat: Boasting multiple scratches and dents, and no grip left on the handle, it's usually of 1980's vintage with a single scoop, with a fake signature of Allan Border or Merv Hughes providing added backyard cult status.

3. CODE OF ETHICS

3a. Stumps: The game draws to a close when,

i) Your host finally cooks the snags after the barbie has run out of gas,
ii) Macca hits the last ball onto the road and it disappears down the drain (not withstanding rules 1e and 2c),
iii) You can't get that batsman out with any type of bowling pace or spin, or
iv) Your girlfriend cracks the shits and wants to go home because you "become a shit" when you hang around with your mates.

3b. Flower Damage: Any respectful male will cringe and help hide the fact that you have just topped your girlfriend's petunias. Somehow, the universal threat of a week-long drought bonds the male species.

3c. Spilt Beer: Ideally, the offending batsman should apologize profusely and offer to replace the vanquished stubbie. Fat Chance. The feat prompts shitloads of laughter, and the usually triumphant "Get me one while you're at it!"

3d. No Running Between Wickets: Every backyard cricket specialist should know this phrase, "The words fun and run don't go together." Just ask Arjuna Ranatunga. Besides, how the hell are you supposed to run in thongs?

3e. Courtesy Call: Always invite the chicks to have a bat. They usually say no, but on the odd occasion, they do take a grip of the willow. You can bowl a couple of dollies to her so she can hit before ending this freakish sideshow with a yorker. Most chicks hold a bat as if they're chopping wood, and they bowl as if throwing left-handed. And they can't handle yorkers. Still, someone has to make the salad." Bazza
