 Week 4 Results
                - Winners: Orlando,Buffalo, Tampa, San Jose, Las Vegas, Detroit,
                Chicago & Indiana...Week 4 Notes/Injuries: Orlando is now
the only undefeated team left in the indoor Pro League...But the Preds
win @ Caroliana was a costly one...QB Jay Gruden, he of 20 TDs
                & no Ints., is now
out for 6-7 weeks w/ a broken ankle...Gruden, who was interviewed
@ halftime of the NBC game of the week said he heard three pops
when a Carolina lineman rolled up on his ankle on the 2nd offencive
play of the 2nd half, as he threw his third TD of the game...Reserve
QB Connell Maynor, who lead the Preds to the 2000 Championship
went 22pts. to-0 in leading the Preds to victory after Jay's injury
                & replaces him...
 The Preds
should be in good shape, as Maynor usually replaces Gruden in
the Red Zone & is the teams holder...Maynor, an outstanding athlete, has played 5 different
positions in his ten seasons in the league...Maynor is the most
                feared running QB in the
league, anyway & would still be starting if Gruden hadn't
returned to the playing field last season...Speaking of injured
                QBs, Former Univ. of Hawai'i
pivot Tim Carey has done a good job @ Buffalo since replacing
injured Jeff Loots, who will be out for 8 weeks w/ a separated
                shoulder...It was some
barn-burner yesterday on NBC as Detroit held off a furi-ous(sorry
about the pun!) rally by Joe (the 'Godfather') Avezzano's Dallas
                Desperados,
53-49...How about Mr. Wright(#96)'s play on Detroit's extra point
attempt when he blocked the extra point, scooped up the loose
                ball & ran for a
two-pt. conv. for Dallas kick-defence...This is important in Ar.FL
since the team that gives up the two point return then has to
                kick off to the team
that just scored!..Coach Avezzano was the guest on Gabriel Morency's
Sportrage the night before I was(Thus. last week)!..
 It seems
as though Billy Dicken has recaptured the starting QB job w/ Chicago
after their win v. L.A...Dallas almost won @ Detroit despite the
fact they lost ex-Baltimore Stallion Grey Cup Champ Shannon Culver & TE/DL Shante Carver
w/ injuries in the v. the Fury...Fury lost Carl Myricks, OL/DL
                w/ a partial concussion...I
am predicting a win for all three winless teams this week &
all three of their coaches are safe - for now...Arena League Picks
                for week five:
 Chicago Rush <over> Buffalo Destroyers
 Arizona Rattlers<over>Dallas Desperados
 New York Dragons<over>Orlando Predators
 Colorado Crush<over>Indiana Firebirds
 Carolina Cobras<over>Grand Rapids Rampage
 San Jose Sabercats<over>Las Vegas Gladiators
...the other two games are toss-ups...may the team that plays
the best win...More next week" Moose

 Week three (3) Results:

Buffalo Destroyers 49, Arizona Rattlers 45
Las Vegas Gladiators 61, Tampa Bay Storm 55
Detroit Fury 49, Carolina Cobras 44
Georgia Force 51, San Jose Sabercats 49
Grand Rapids Rampage 66, New York Dragons 63
Indiana Firebirds 28, Chicago Rush 23
Los Angeles Avengers 59, Colorado Crush 53, OT
Orlando Predators 50, Dallas Desperados 47

Week three Notes... Jay Gruden now, in 3 games has 17 TDs &
NO ints...The Preds have been in more Arena Bowls than any other
team in the league & seem to be headed to their 7th...Nobody
in the league is as strong as them yet!..Chicago seems to have
                forgotten how to score...they
are only averaging 22 pts. per game so far...They have used Chad
Salisbury (ex-Toronto Phantom), Brian Ay Yat (ex-Winnipeg,CFL)
& Billy Dicken (ex-Hamilton Tiger-cat) as pivot but nothing
has won them a game yet...But surprisingly they are No.2 in the
                elague on defence to Orlando
 John Elway / Pat Bolen
sat in the luxury box & watched their expansion Colorado Crush slip to a
very expansion-like 0-3, in their narrow overtime loss to L.A...Despite an 8 TD
performance by hand-picked by-Elway QB, John Dutton...Dutton, who was Arena Bowl
MVP last Aug.for Champion San Jose, in relief of injured Mark Grieb(ex-Scotland NFLE) There
is a real NFL Euro feel to the Crush as coach Bob Beers, Sr. spent a stint in
NFL AAA w/ Barcelona...His son Bob, Jr., who coaches the line was Off. Line
Coach on two NFL E Champ teams the last two season w/ Berlin...Off. Coordinator
Mike Perez who QB'd in Ar.FL for 6 seasons is the 1st QB for the Frankfurt
Galaxy ('91-'92) & played there for John's father, the late Jack Elway...Crush
fans should relax as the wins should start coming in a few weeks...Remember, NBC
pumped the season up to 16 games in Arena league this season so there's still
time.
 Their still better than
Carolina, New York & Chicago...And there's still time for those squads,
too...12 teams will make the playoffs again this season as NBC wants to maximize
coverage to set up regional rivalries...The studio hacks, Al Trautwig(?) &
Glen Parker waste too much time worrying about what the NFL should or shouldn't
do about 'minority' hirings in coaching...These clowns don't know much about
Arenaball so they prattle on about other leagues alleged problems...Only Michael Irvin (AND THIS IS A NICE SURPRISE!) has shown any interest in
the league they are covering...I think I'll e-mail NBC Sports & see if I
can't shake the meatheads up...In a nice Salzer way of course...After all I love
the Ar.FL & was one of the 1st people on the planet to play one of "the
greatest sport ever created" - arenaball, or as I like to call it,
Hockey-Football...
 The Gruden Bros. continue
to rock the house...This week Jay had as his front row guest his father Jim
Gruden, Sr., who's other son is a doctor...Last week Jay's front row guests were
his Bro,Jon & Tampa Bucc DL Warren Sapp, who had the quote of week one...he
said,"...I've loved the indoor war since '91 when Orlando came into this
league..."...When NBC's fine sideline man Lewis Johnson asked Sapp if he'd
like to play both 'sides-of-the-line' in an Arena game, Warren said
"...we'd better leave that to the professionals..."...I'm glad I tape
every game...More next week, oh before I forget, Buffalo paid for it's win over
Arizona...It lost starting QB Jeff Loots for 6 weeks w/ a separated right
passing shoulder...Ouch!...More next week from the greatest Sports site in the
World, MYKwebWORLD" . - Moose, over & out...

Arena
Football week three preview
Ar.FL Notes...The Las Vegas Gladiators have released OL/DL Neal Fort, who said
he'd pick up some 'easy money' from playing Arenaball this spring...He has
signed a new two-yr. deal w/ the Alouettes so he can end his career w/ the
franchise...He started w/ the Baltimore Stallions in '94-'95 when they went to
the 83rd & 84th Grey Cups...How about Jay Gruden?...12 Touchdowns in two
weeks w/ no interceptions...3 weeks after helping his bro Jon win the Super Bowl
w/ Tampa Bay Buccs (NFL)...Jay now has 7 Championship rings from Pro Football,
w/ 6 Arena (4 as QB w/ the Tampa Bay Storm; 2 more w/ Orlando Predators as
coach) & one Super Bowl ring w/ Tampa Buccaneers as an assistant coach...
 A recent article from the
Sporting News had this to say about NBC's involvement w the fastest growing
Sport on planet earth...NBC will succeed w/ the Ar.FL where they failed w/ the
X-FL for the following reasons: (1) Games are on Sun. afternoons not Sat.
nights, (2) NBC pays nothing to televise the games, (3) It's real Football, (4)
It has real announcers like former NFL/WFL QB Pat Haden & vet Tom Hammonds,
(5) There's no Jesse Ventura or Brian Bosworth(less), (6) NBC has joined w/
Ar.FL in regionalizing every once of every game, (7) All other leagues that have
played in the NFL's offseason have failed; WFL('74-75), USFL('83-85), WLAF('91-'92),
X-FL('01)  THEY AREN'T MUST SEE T.V.!...Now
to some of the detractors; an idiot named Bob Molinaro of the local fishwrap,
thePilot-less Alledgedstar recently blasted the league, which has been in business
for 17 yrs. now, longer than he has, & I called the local paper &
reminded him that we have a struggling Af2 team in town called the Norfolk
Nighthawks, who are popular & need our support from the grass-roots level
& his constant digs v. Arena 1 aren't helping...Myk's mate, late night Jay
Leno blasted his own network for joining w/ the Ar.FL...Hey Jay it's a great
sport!.

Arena/Arena related notes...Jay Gruden, Jon's bro, Tampa QB coach, made a
successful return to the indoor game yesterday leading the always dangerous
Orlando Predators to a 12 pt. win over Mike Hohensee's Rush...Former New Jersey
Red Dog, Tommy Maddox passing target, New Orlean Saint Michael Lewis set
all-time Pro Bowl return yardage marks in the 24 Honolulu Pro Bowl Myk & I
attended in Oahu on Feb, 2nd, '03...A successful debut on NBC T.V. for Arena
Footy as the Los Angeles Avengers defeated an equally determined Las Vegas
Gladiators team...
 NBC basically
relocated the former N.J. Red Dogs (Micheal Lewis former club) six weeks
ago...Back on this date in '01 Vince McMahon started his X-FL & NBC had a
very successful Las Vegas game, so you can see why Las Vegas appealed to them as
a place for Arenaball...There once was a Las Vegas team in the Arena league in
'94, the Las Vegas Sting...There was also a Las Vegas team that year in the CFL
in '94 called the Posse... Speaking of the CFL, another league I love, there are
currently 9 CFL players playing in the 'A' league...To Kalani Simpson of the
Honolulu Star Bulletin, the Arena league IS Pro Football...the rest of his
article on Michael Lewis was OK but I could have done better since I interviewed
Michael Lewis in San Diego last week when he won the NFL Special teams player of
the year award hosted by former N.Y. Jet QB Boomer Esiason...Interesting
comments Boomer made about Al Michaels last week, too...I was upstairs in the
media box @ Pro Bowl yesterday, but Myk wouldn't let me..... New Coaches Al
Lugenbill, formerly w/ Amsterdam (NFL E)/ Los Angeles Extreme (X-FL) W/ the
Detroit Fury & Ron Selesky, formerly in Af2 Albany, now w/ Buffalo lost
their Arena League debuts in week one...Areanfootball2 starts the end of
March...Myk & I want to say hello to Herk Sparshain, half owner of the
National Indoor Football League Champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds, who was
vacationing here in Honolulu during Pro Bowl week...We met Herk @ Duke's Canoe
Club restaurant one night& saw him on the beach w/ the other half owner recently...More news &
results next week. Moose Salzer.
