Well it's just about finalized Dave Dickenson the CFL MVP in 2000 the year of the Lion is a Lion & Damon is not happy. All the best to both of these great QB's in 2003 wherever Damon may be! Argo's is the hot rumor for Damon's next job. His 39 but could keep going for years in the CFL, hope so!

TotalCFLers. Unreal on Saturdee The Grey Cup was at the Stamps Fanfest. It looked magnificent after its alleged $10k of repairs after the Al's had some extra fun ! I'll have the Brilliantly Bright new looking Grey Cup on this weeks Total-CFL MYKwebTV.

Jim Barker I had a chat to him at yesterdee's Stamp's Fan Fest as he was signing autographs. Jim says he reads Total-CFL.com Yeh ! Yeh !

For several reasons initially lots of Stamps Total-CFL MYKwebTV. It was a great day, fans everywhere. I got to have great chats with Marcus Crandell, former Lion Don Blair, Jamie Crysdale & then after I went to Moose McGuire's.

Two of me fav Stamps Aldi Henry & Duncan O'Mahoney were there to make new star Outside Linebacker George White welcome in Calgary. Had great chats to these guys & Da'Shann Austin as they played pool & drank water getting ready for camp.

I met George last year in Regina after a game & it was great talking about his Boston College days, his time at Green Bay Packers & the Riders.

Footy season is back Yeh Yeh Yeh !

TotalCFLers after just doing this weeks Total-CFL MYKwebTV edits I now realize that Mark Steven QR77 my media mate actually cut me off Fridee night. I have never been cut off on CDN or US or Aussie radio. 

I got back on Mondee night though as Peter Watt was the host, where was Mark Steven? Taking a holiday up in the AB Mountains I bet! 

At least I haven't had a Gabriel Morency Sports MADness Suspension Yet!

May 15, 2003 "All the best to Thomas Haskins after his surgery! From me Total-CFL post "Me mate Nuffy was right! Wow here we go 3rd time Dickenson back at Stamps! Me mate Gabriel Morency The Team in Montreal gets a  2 week suspension! " Myk Aussie

The Edmonton Eskimos announced  that running back Thomas Haskins will not play this season because of a benign brain tumor.

Haskins, who signed as a free agent with Edmonton on February 22, 2003, was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia on March 21st. He underwent surgery on March 26th and has recently been given a clean bill of health, but has not received medical clearance to play football. Lets hope Thomas recovers 100% & is then back playing CFL footy when he is ready.

TotalCFLers Calgary Sun big write up confirming my mate Nuffy's report from last week that Stamps are preparing offer for Dickenson.

By Dan Both "Calgary Stampeders are preparing an offer for former CFL MVP quarterback Dave Dickenson, head coach Jim Barker confirmed last night". Also says Michael Feterick & Fred Fateri would make the final decision in terms of what the team is prepared to pay.

Good to see some rich businessmen in Calgary coming up with the extra cash for Dave to do the promo media work to help pay the $$$$. Jimmy Shaw's group I was told. Dave possibly kicking fanny at QB & also doing "lots & lots of promo work" with one of me fav Calgarian's Mark Steven at QR77. He'd wanna be doing lots for the $100,000 Jimmy's apparently going to pay Dave. 

Dave will probably sign in NFL & then we have all talked lots & still don't see him back in the CFL. Makes good Total-CFL Discussion though I suppose.

Gabriel Morency The Team in Montreal suspended for a week by management! The Raider Nation, The Teamsters, Madness Association, Expo Nation etc etc are going wild out there in Montreal as the star of SportsRage Gabriel Morency gets a 1 week management suspension. 

Wow ! Can't wait till Gab' is back as I have enjoyed immensely being part of his SportsRage. The ratings are out soon & I know Gab was really looking forward to that because popular opinion has it that his show is kicking butt on Montreal & Inet radio. Wonder if I'm on this Fridee night with the temporary host.

Myk & my mate Mat McBriar is a dual Aussie/American citizen. He played punter @ my beloved Univ. of Hawai'i the last 2.5 yrs. as a starter & was recently signed by Myk's Denver Broncos to a three-yr. contract.

A question was recently put out on our brother site, Total-CFL about if Mat had come to the CFL, would he be classified as an Import or Non-Import? Let's analyze the case as we know it. Since he played football outside of Canada after the age of 17 & did not play in Canada before attending U. of H it would seem he would have to be classified as an import according to CFL rules.

However he is a citizen of another country, namely Australia, which would be a little closer to Canada than the U.S. & isn't an American by birth. For example, take the case of the 1st 'import' who signed w/ the CFL in 1929, former Univ. of Michigan QB, Warren Stevens.

Warren was born in New York to Australian parents in 1905. He grew up in U S & played high school & college ball in the U S. Instead of playing American 'footy', Warren signed w/ the Montreal Winged-Wheelers, a 'AAA' team registered w/ the old Ontario Football Rugby Union. They made the CFL playoffs four yrs. in-a-row & actually won the Dominion National Football Championship of Canada in 1931(i.e. the Grey Cup).

After the team folded in the 1930's in the 'Depression', Stevens became a
Canadian citizen & got various athletic coaching & director jobs @ several high profile Canadian Universities. In 1962 he moved to Australia & died in his parents native country, in Melbourne, in 1978.

Stevens was also famous for: (1)Throwing the 1st forward pass in CFL history, (2) Being the 1st import to play QB in the Grey Cup & (3)Helping to establish Gridiron Australia, which today is the governing body of most all Footy down under, mate(s).

So getting back to Mat; (1) He is an import in the sense he didn't play football growing up in Canada & played past his 17th b-day in America,
 2)He may not be "an import" in that he is not American born (like the
aforementioned Warren Stevens, an Aussie-American-Canadian). So the final
authority, in answer to the question posed by the astute discusser from Total-CFL, will have to be the Canadian Player's Association who's job it would be to classify him. I don't think Canadian fans will get to see much of Mat after what Myk & I saw in Maui(no ka oi) on Feb. 1st,'03 (the greatest punt I've ever seen in person!). With Mat's first punt he broke my school record 63 ydr @ U. H. - buy a mile!

I think we are seeing the new Darren Bennett. And in a few years the CFL or NFL will see the next Mat McBriar. Import or not." Moose

May 1, 2003 "Looks like the Alouettes don't want to go "Back to Back" Grey Cup Champs as they release 1st star Running Back Mike Pringle & now star 2002 Running Back Lawrence Phillips! 

Johnny Powers "Cage Call 3 Champ" on Gabriel Morency's SportsRage says "Lawrence Phillips is the best player in the CFL the last 20 years!" Wow that's a big call but I agree somewhat, Phillips was an absolute star in 2002! 

Moose will be happy he is gone but what if ends up at your Riders ???? I recently sent Moose "Football Fan Frenzy 2" that includes Grey Cup 2002. Moose actually edited out Lawrence Phillips from my film work in the Alouttes locker rooms after their great win in Eskimoland. Moose & I agued all 2002 about Phillips.
