The
Chicago White Sox made believers out of all of us with their improbable
win in four games over Roger Clemons and Astros. It
was particularly sweet to see George Herbert Walker (October Surprise/Skull
and Bones) Bush, the Elder and his mother, er, ah, wife
Barbara get the front row seats at the Houston MLB teams disaster!
Amen! I am sorry for Myk's buddy Roger Clemons who I do
like very much, maybe go out with a World Series loss.
It's sometimes very hard
for great players to get back to Championship games
- look at poor Dan Marina in Pro Football, with the once proud Dolphins.
Best of luck to all 30 clubs competing in the offseason for
free agents as the 102nd World Series race, ostensibly gets under
way next April!" Moose
"I
don't feel sorry for Mr Rich man Roger "The SportsRage Dodger"
Clemens. He is a very good player though we all know that." Myk

Posednik's
homer (not Simpson!) finishes off Houston and Myk's buddy
Roger the Rocket in Chicago, in the World Series - for now
The
Chicago White Sox, in their first World Series since 1959, took a commanding
two-0 lead to Houston for the
2005 World Series. Houston will have two games back
home to regroup!" Moose
Wed
Oct 19th, 05 "MLB playoffs update! Will it be the Astros or the Cardinals
in the American League to play the Chicago White Sox in the World Series?"
Myk Aussie
From Moose National League: White Sox to go to their first MLB Championship World Series since Alaska (50) & Hawai'i (50) became states.
The White Sox used their great pitching to advance to the World Series (they haven't won it since 1917!). But as ESPN
analyst Harold Reynolds said this morning, is the Bullpen TOO rested?
American League: Astros one win away from making it to the World Series for the first time ever. Time for
Myk Aussie to make up with the great Roger Clemons! Clemons came out of retirement at the right time to help his hometown team into the their
first real shot at making a Championship run! The Astros need to win one more v. the tough Saint Louis Cardinals, who won a
record 105 games last year only to get beat 4-0 in the Series
by the Boston Red (Shilling's?) Sox, for the title. Don't count Tony LaRussa's guys just quite yet...But yes, the Astros will
win the Pennant. Now, how about some fearless World Series Picks from myself
1) The White Sox will win one or two games in the World Series but not win the Series. (2) This is the Rocket's last
time to go for a Championship and he / they (Astros) will win it all. (3) I hope Super Bowl Wayne Lavelle will get to
his like, 29th World Series / MLB Allstar game, and I of source hope I will see Wayne in Detroit, with me and Myk
for Super Bowl XL. " Moose

MLB
Playoffs Results and Notes -
New York Yankees 3, California Angels 2
Houston 7, Atlanta 6, 18 innings
Chicago White Sox 5, Boston 3
Notes
- The White Sox won their Series, 3-0 v. last years Champ Red Sox. The
White Sox haven't won the MLB Championship Series since 1917. They
could very well be this years Red Sox, who last year won their first World
Series in 86 years. Myk won't be too happy about it but his buddy Roger
Clemons was awesome again and the Astros look hard to beat." Moose

MLB
Report: Marlins in lead for the National League Wild Card behind a smoki'
"D-Train" named Dontrelle Willis By:
Rich Salzer and Michele DeWalt
Dontrelle
WIllis, the 6'4" lefty pitcher-hitter won his 21st game of the season,
tying him for the Major League
lead with the lead pitcher for the Saint Louis Cardinals,
who sparred with the Red Sox in the MLB Championship Series last
Oct. Willis also hit a three-run homer in the fifth, his first at-bat-homer
since hitting one in Puerto
Rico, on April 14th of '04, v. Montreal. The Marlins are
one-half game up in the National League Wild Card race over the Houston
Astros, who they beat last
night, 8-2, and one-and-a-half games up on Philly. Houston
is the team of Myk Aussie's mate, Roger (Rocket) Clemons.' Moose

MLB
Update By: Scott Baxter
5 trades went down before the
deadline, very uneventful:
1.
Matt Lawton to the Cubs - Pirates get Jody Gerut Lawton
is decent hitter, probably play left field. Currently hitting .277, 10, 44.
Will hit either 1st, 2nd or 6th in the order. Pittsburgh
gets Jody Gerut, a 4th outfielder who came to the Cubs less than two weeks ago
from the Cleveland Indians for Va. Beach native OF Jason Dubois (pronounced Du-Boys).
OK trade from the Cubs
perspective, but it won't help them get the Wild Card spot.
2.
Kyle Farnsworth to the Braves - Tigers get a prospectFarnsworth
(former Cub) can really bring it - throws around 100 MPH. Could close games,
but is better suited for 7th and 8th innings (or as I call it, the 8th inning
closer). Can get wild at times with pitches and mentality. Big (former
football player, 6'5", 230lbs.) and can be intimidating. Good pickup for
the Braves, who need someone to set up surprising Jay Reitsma
3.
Geoff Blum to the White Sox - Padres get a prospect Blum is
a bench player and can play 6 or 7 different positions. Ken Williams had
to settle for Blum, but wanted more to shore up the pale hose before the
playoffs.
4.
Ron Villone to the Marlins - Mariners get a couple of pitching prospects.
Villone could be the lefty
specialist or a two inning guy. Most importantly, it does two things, a. shore
up the bullpen for the Marlins which is their weak point, b. Marlins will keep
A.J. Burnett (who has since gone 3-0 with a 1.22 ERA in his last 3 starts).
5.
Buddy Groom to the D'backs - Yankees get either a player to be named (or soon
to be released later) or cash
Groom
was designated for assignment by the Yanks 4 days ago when the Yanks
traded for Shawn Chicon on 28 July. Journeyman, Groom will only be
used as a situational left pitcher. Groom has benefited from being
left-handed.
That
is it for the deadline trades. Teams can still trade players up till August
31st, but the players must clear waivers in order to be traded.
Example:
Scott Baxter for the Cubs will be traded to the Braves. Baxter must clear
waivers before he is traded to the Braves. If Baxter clears every team (goes
from worst record to best record), then the Cubs can trade Baxter to the
Braves. However, if another team claims Baxter (usually a division rival, but
not often for paybacks can be hell), let's say the New York Mets, then the
Cubs either deals Baxter to the Mets or the Cubs pulls him back from
waivers (and can not be put back on waivers for the rest of the year.)"

Division Leaders ending July 2005!" Moose
San
Diego, Saint Louis, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles MLB
Notes: Soon to be traded (rumoured) A.J. Burnett, Fish, homered and pitched
8 1/3rd innings of 2 hit ball to
allow the slumping, pitcher heavy Marlins to pass by the
Barry Bonds-less Giants.
The Padres have made a couple good trades lately and
appear to be headed for the their first Division Title in some time. Good on 'Em!
Why doesn't Barry (Big Game loser)
Bonds just cash in his chips for the season and
admit he'll give it another try next year? Or did he? Did I miss that? Phillies
Brett Myers allowed only one run,
2 hits in 6 innings v. San Diego as Ken Saroka's Phillies
pulled the upset." Moose

Thurs,
June 30 05 "Scott's
MLB report: Baseball expected/unexpected so far this year as we reach the
All-Star Break! " Myk Aussie
From
Scott" We are two weeks away from baseball's All-Star Game in Detroit,
these are the things that have happened that are unexpectedly positive:
The
Chicago White Sox - best record in baseball at 50-24 (as of 6/27/05). They
have done it by great pitching (especially the starters), with team ERA of
3.54, best in the majors. Jon Garland leads the junior circuit in wins (12),
but Mark Buehrle is their best pitcher at 9-1 and a 2.48 ERA. Add in Freddy
Garcia at 7-3 with a good bullpen, and they have become the best staff in the
American League. Currently, they are 9.5 games ahead of the Twins, the
favorites in the AL Central.
Washington
Nationals - The first year in DC since 1971 has provided with the surprise in the
NL East. Currently, the Nats are 3 games ahead of Atlanta. They win a lot of
one-run games (17-7), but don't have a lot of offense (15th in NL in runs,
tied for last in HRs), outscored by 6 runs, but a healthy Nick Johnson (.320
avg.), and Livan Hernandez (11 wins), and an awesome home record (had a 12
game home winning streak broken on Sunday) have propelled the Ex-Expos
into first.
The
Baltimore Orioles - Good young starting pitching has helped the Orioles get
off to a fast start with Daniel Cabrera and Erik Bedard to help compliment a
very good offense. Currently at 42-33, they are leading the American League
Wild Card race. On the negative side, Bedard is out with a knee injury, his
status is very, very uncertain. Also, they have been slumping of late, and are
currently 2.5 behind the Red Sox in the AL East. Considering that they have
been in the doldrums since owner Peter Angelos wrongly fired Davey Johnson in
1997, this has been a definite improvement. A big factor in their success is:
Brian
Roberts - Led the AL in doubles with 50 in 2004, and scored 107 runs, he is
having a great power surge this year, hitting 12 HRs (already a career high by
8) and 42 RBIs (Previous high was 53 in 2004). He is currently leading the AL
in average with .363 and is a lock to make the All-Star team in the AL. The
second baseman is the catalyst for the O's strong start this year.
Derek
Lee - Posting potential triple crown stats (.388 (1st in the NL, 22 HR
(2nd), 64 RBI (tied-2nd)), he has been the most pleasant hitting surprise in
the National League. The Cubs would be about 10-15 games under .500
(especially with their injuries from Kerry Wood and Mark Prior this season)
had Lee have had his normal season. Right now, he is the 1st half MVP in the
NL." The Baxter

Angels v. Detroit. Postponed,
they will play a doubleheader later in season. By then

Stupidity. Is it just me, or why do idiots like Jon Saraceno and that other
guy have to keep screwing
with the rehabilitating John Rocker? 90% of what Rock-head said
