We have ourselves a potentially great Super Bowl!
I'm picking
the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. I think the Giants can make a game
of it though.
New
England Patriots
report from Friday Feb 1 from NFL Media.
By Dan Pompei
Chicago Tribune
The Patriots concluded
their preparations for Super Bowl XLII with a crisp workout in shorts and
shells at Sun Devil Stadium that lasted an hour and 20 minutes Friday.
"We're ready to roll," coach Bill Belichick said. "We're ready as we're
going to be." Belichick said the team will not have a walk through at
University of Phoenix Stadium Saturday. The Patriots will go to the
stadium to take a team photo.
Wide receiver Jabar Gaffney's shoulder injury has improved, and Gaffney
was able to participate fully in practice. Quarterback Tom Brady's ankle
continued to be a non-issue. So the Patriots look to be completely
healthy. Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown spoke to the
team before practice at Belichick's request.

Bledsoe retires with 44,611 yds. and 251 TDs!" Moose Salzer
Former first round draft
pick of the NFL, Drew Bledsoe, who played 15 years in the League for the
New England Patriots (in two Super Bowls [1-1]), Buffalo Bills and Dallas
Cowboys retires as Pro Football's
10th leading yardage passer. Bledsoe is behind only Damon Allen, Warren
Moon, Dan Marino, Danny McManus, Brett Favre, John Elway, Fran Tarkenton,
Vinny Testeverde, and Jim Kelly.
Bledsoe was the Patriots
first round pick when Bill Parcells coached the team, beginning in 1993.
In four years he and Parcells had them in the team's only second all-time
Super Bowl. But they lost Super Bowl XXXI to Brett Favre and Green Bay,
35-21. Bledsoe threw four TDs but also 4 INTs. Bledsoe began the 2001
season (in which New England would also go the the Super Bowl as the
Patriots number one QB. But a severe sternum injury would shelf him six
games, and after the Pats 0-2 start, they reeled off 5 win sin six games
with second year Tom Brady as the number one pivot. Bledsoe would bail
the Patriots out with a two-second half TD performance v. Pittsburgh in
the AFC Championship game that would get the Pats into the Super Bowl,
where Brady and K Adam Vinatieri would upset the favored Kurt
Warner-Marshall Faulk lead Saint Louis Rams, 17-14. Bledsoe sought a
trade and went to the Buffalo Bills where he would set 10 team all-time
records including 4,359 yards and 375 completions.
After the 2004 season,
the Bills stupidly released Bledsoe, thinking Kelly Holcomb and J.P.
Lossman would take them further. He started one-and-a-half more years
with the Dallas Cowboys, until he was beaten out after game six last year
by young upstart Tony Romo('s ribs). Bledsoe won one Super Bowl behind
Brady and lost one as a starter. I currently have Bledsoe as 42nd on my
alltime QBs list. He was the best the Patriots ever had, along with Doug
Flutie and Babe Parilli, until of course the better Tom Brady arrived as
only a sixth round pick, in 2000. Bledsoe walks away
from the game following the retirement of his favorite Coach, Bill
Parcells, with no major injuries. Thanks for the great sportsmanship and
play, Drew!" Moose Salzer

06 "Moose's Patriots 06 preview! Lots of NFL MYKwebTV!" Myk
From Moose "New
England Patriots, 47th season One AFL title, 1960 as Boston Patriots,
Three Super Bowl wins in five attempts. Coach: Bill Belichick, QBs: Tom
Brady, Matt Cassell, Rohan Davey (one last time). Other Key Players: K
Martin Gramatica (returning from one yr. in Ar.FL-Tampa), DB/WR/KR Troy
Brown, LBs Monty Beisel, Dan Klecko, Tedy Bruschi, TE/LB Mike Vrabel, DE/FB
Rich Seymour, RB-FB Heath Evans, RBs Corey Dillon, Kevin Faulk. 2005
Record: 11-7-0, lost to Denver in Divisional playoff game, 27-10.
Outlook: The Pats will be OK. Every year they lose players and change
personnel and many, including fans think they will fall out of the Super
Bowl or Playoff contention. As they say in New Jersey, 'Fahgetaboutdit'.
But this will be the last year that they make a serious run to the
playoffs and/or Super Bowl without changing major parts to the 'Machine'.
Doug Flutie retired after that drop kick last Dec. and Brady did get
dinged up a bit. But young Matt Cassell looked very good at times when he
got to play last year and looks good again in Preseason this year. Brown
and Deion Branch will be back together for one more ground at the
receiving end of Brady and Cassell's passes. Running the ball will be
Marshall Faulk's kid brother Kevin again along with Dillon and now FB
Evans.
The punishing Defence still has Vrabel, when he's not catching TE passes
(He's 8 for 8 for those keeping score). The Pats also drafted two TEs
(and signed ex- Charger Reche Caldwell) in the offseason. There's no
panick in Patriotville as the Pats have drafted well again in the
off-season with K Steve Gostowski, who will KO, RB-KR Laurence Moroney.
Prediction: The Patriots will win the AFC East over the Jets and
Dolphins simply because they have the guys who've been there and better
Coaching, it terms of preparation.
The Patriots will also shock a lot of people when they meet Carolina in Super Bowl XLI in Miami
in Feb., '07." Moose

From
NFL Media
BUFFALO
BILLS (3-5) at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (7-1) (Sunday night, ESPN, 8:30
PM ET): Watch out, Bills, for those tricky Pats!
Kickers
throwing touchdown passes…linebackers catching touchdown
passes…receivers playing defensive back. Those were some of the
bag-of-tricks moves pulled by New England head coach BILL BELICHICK last
week in a 40-22 victory in the dome in St. Louis. But this one’s
outdoors, at night, in the November cold. Might just be time for some
good old smashmouth football! And both teams can deliver.
The
Bills have won three of their last four. In each of those victories, new
starting running back WILLIS MC GAHEE, the team’s No. 1 pick in 2003,
has run for 100-plus yards, including 132 (and a TD) last Sunday against
the Jets. "We’re all getting comfortable right now," says
McGahee. "We know what it takes to win."
Of
course, the Patriots – winners of 22 of their past 23 overall –
certainly know what it takes to win, too. They added to that
"knowledge" this year by trading for RB COREY DILLON, the
AFC’s No. 5 rusher (749 yards) and on pace (1,498 yards) to become New
England’s first 1,000-yard rusher in three seasons and second in the
past six.
Matchups
to watch: Buffalo’s 650 pounds-plus DT combo of SAM ADAMS and PAT
WILLIAMS vs. middle of Pats line. Who can forget Adams’ 37-yard
rumbling interception-TD return against New England on Kickoff ’03
Weekend?
It
is so cool to be the only Aussie that has regularly reported on the NFL
for the past 5 years. Yep that's me, I have had NFL media passes at Super
Bowl's, Pro Bowl's and other NFL games. Thus I am allowed into the NFL
Media section and allowed to post their great reports on here. Much more
coming over the coming weeks." Myk Aussie

The
New England defense lead by Ty Law & Rodney Harrison were
unbelievable as they the front line pressured and then they picked off

for over 100 yards. The Patriots are back to the Super Bowl after winning
