The Montreal Alouettes Football Club The Montreal Alouettes announce a partnership with the Quebec Junior Football League.

The Montreal Alouettes are proud to announce that a partnership agreement has been reached between the Quebec Junior Football League (QJFL) and the Montreal Alouettes. The agreement means the Alouettes will keep getting closer to all levels of amateur and minor football in the province. 

As well as getting an up-close look at the development and progress of local players, the Alouettes will be able to share their football knowledge and expertise with teams from the Quebec Junior Football League in a variety of ways, namely: training camps, clinics, as well as inviting coaches from the junior leagues to rub shoulders with the Alouettes' coaching staff at the team's rookie camp. The team also intends to provide the Quebec Junior Football League with assistance and resources in the field of marketing in areas such as advertising, sponsorships and promotions. 
 
"Today our organization is taking yet another step in our involvement with amateur football in Quebec. As a professional team, it is our mandate to play a prominent role in the development of young players as well as the leagues in which they play," said Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed.

"The caliber of play in the Quebec Junior Football League is very high, and we want to actively participate in the growth of the league and the healthy practice of our sport," added Reed.
 
The Alouettes held a full evaluation camp for all-star players from the QJFL this past April at Collège Saint-Jean-Vianney and got a first-hand look at the best talent in the league. This marked the first of a series of initiatives which aims to develop junior football in Quebec.

"The LFJQ is very proud to partner up with the Montreal Alouettes and to have been able to take part in the club's first evaluation camp for junior players, declared LFJQ President Don Stark. The Alouettes' support for the upcoming season is greatly appreciated and we are anxious to develop this collaboration."

Throughout the years the Montreal Alouettes have supported and overseen a large number of amateur and minor football programs in Quebec. The establishment of the Alouettes Foundation in 2015 demonstrated the team's desire to be close to, and actively involved with, Quebec's amateur football community, and to act as a catalyst for youth development in the classroom and on the football field. Among the Alouettes' minor and amateur football initiatives are: École de football élite Bruno Heppell Subway, Junior Alouettes camps and the Tim Hortons All-Star Game, to name a few.
 
Junior football has been in existence since 1908, during which time many leagues and teams have been involved in the development of the sport in Quebec and Ontario. Founded in 1981, the Quebec Junior Football League began with four teams in the Montreal area and over the course of several years extended into Ontario. In spite of the league being known by several names and having different teams throughout its history, a common denominator remains: to offer high-caliber football and an opportunity for young men between 18 and 25 years of age the opportunity to play the sport they love. Former professional players along with former Alouettes like Pierre Vercheval, Bruno Heppell and Pierre Desjardins went through the ranks of Quebec junior football leagues.

The Montreal Alouettes Football Club announced that after 21 years of service to the Club, Vice-President & General Manager Jim Popp will not be returning to the Alouettes for the 2017 season.

"Jim's leadership over the last 20-plus years has created a football legacy, delivering Montreal three Grey Cups and eight Eastern Division titles during his tenure. We are very grateful for his dedication and personal sacrifice to the Alouettes franchise. We know this team is positioned to get back to its winning ways in 2017," said owner Bob Wetenhall.   

The Club already has commenced its search for the next General Manager. Lead Governor, Andrew Wetenhall said: "We are 100% committed to bringing the Grey Cup back to Montreal, and our record over the last several years has not been acceptable. Our General Manager search is focused on candidates that will embrace the Club's three guiding principles: delivering championship football to our fans; supporting the success of our players and staff; and giving back to the Montreal and greater Quebec community." Montreal, November 2, 2016 – The Canadian Football League announced on Wednesday the Montreal Alouettes' nominees for the 2016 Most Outstanding Player awards as selected by the voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and CFL head coaches. Linebacker Bear Woods has impressed throughout the season and was named the Alouettes' Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player for this 2016 campaign, while his teammate Stefan Logan deserved the honour on special teams for a second consecutive season. Kristian Matte was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, while Samuel Giguère received the nod as the team's Most Outstanding Canadian Player. Defensive back Jonathon Mincy earned the recognition for Most Outstanding Rookie.

Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player: Bear Woods
After seing his 2015 season cut short following the second game of the season, Woods rapidly proved that he was once again on top of his game this season as he was an important cog of the Alouettes fierce defensive squad. With one game left to play, the 29-year-old linebacker leads the team with 129 defensive tackles on the season, which is also a new team record. Even if opposing offences are constantly watching out for him, he also managed to create turnovers and make teams lose precious yards, as he recorded five quarterback sacks, four tackles for losses, two interceptions on the season, all while forcing four fumbles and recovering one.

Most Outstanding Special Teams Player: Stefan Logan
The Alouettes kick returner did not skip a beat in 2016, as he currently leads the CFL with 2,300 total return yards on the season. He once again surpassed the 1,000-yard mark on kickoff returns. With one game remaining this season, he amassed 1,182 yards, surpassing the team record he had set the previous season. He also cumulated 987 punt-return yards and should reach the 1,000-yard plateau once more on Saturday.

Most Outstanding Canadian: Samuel Giguère
Once again this season, the speedy Alouettes' receiver continues to be an important part of the Alouettes offence. He scored a team-high six touchdowns this season, tied with two other players. The former Vert & Or product caught 31 passes good for 347 yards and three touchdowns. He also poses an important threat in the Alouettes red-zone offence, who leads the CFL with a 61.9% conversion rate, as he scored three rushing touchdowns on seven carries. Giguère was also a factor on special teams where he amassed 223 yards on 11 kickoff returns.

Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman: Kristian Matte
Matte took over at the centre position at the start of the season and did not miss a single start in 17 games. A pillar on the offensive line, the veteran lineman worked with two rookies on his squad, while working with four different quarterbacks. He helped running backs Tyrell Sutton and Brandon Rutley both rack up over 400 rushing yards on the season.

Most Outstanding Rookie: Jonathon Mincy
The cornerback position is one of the toughest positions to play at in the CFL and the job is that much harder when you are a rookie, but that didn't prevent Jonathon Mincy from shining on the Alouettes defence, starting every game at the position. The 24-year-old rookie ranks sixth on the team with 53 defensive tackles. He also pilfered a pass, while forcing two fumbles and knocking down five passes." Charles Rooke

You may be asking why I am writing about this on here. Well because I firmly believe that I will sell this movie/documentary. It has not been my focus at all over the years but now it is. Thurs night. Wow! Bombers defeat Tiger-Cats 32 to 25. Bombers at +3.5 wins. The Over wins. Tiger-Cats turnovers were brutal.

Joey Elliot plays great at QB for Bombers in his 1st start this year. Tiger-Cats WR Chris Williams has a huge game. Tiger-Cats QB Henry Burriss had some bad fumbles. Another entertaining and close game.

Fri night. Alouettes defeat Eskimos 38 to 25 in Edmonton. The +1 for the Al's wins. The Over wins the bet.

Al's have had some big wins over the past years in Edmonton. Last night was as well especially seeing they were without star SB/WR Jamel Richardson and also RB Brandon Whitaker. These 2 players being out was the reason I picked the Eskimos.
Sat night. Wow! Toronto Argonauts defeat Calgary Stampeders 22-14 in Calgary. Argos at +4.5 won the bet. The Under won.

Sun night. BC Lions defeat Saskatchewan Roughriders 24 to 5 in Vancouver. BC Lions at -6.5 wins the bet. The Under wins.

TSN's Chris Schultz says the BC Lions have the best defense in the CFL. Riders QB Darian Durant threw 3 picks on the night of his 30th birthday. Ooch!

BC Lions are 5-2 and in top spot in the West.

Tiger-Cats for win. Bombers to cover the spread as this could be a upset. The Under.
Eskimos for win and to cover the spread. Again I wouldn't be surprised at all is Al's win this game. The Over.
Stamps for the win and to cover the spread only because the game is in Calgary. The Over.
BC Lions for the win and to cover the spread. The Over. I believe Lions are the better team at the moment but the Riders have done well at BC Place.

When it's a tough week and I really think the games could go either way I look to see who Chris Schultz picks. Chris has picked as I have above in 3 of the games but he went for the Argo's against the Stampeders. I actually hope he is right but at home I'll stick with Stampeders. I've seen the Argos really bomb bad in Calgary several times. For Chris's week 8 picks and report tsn.ca/cfl/schultz

I met Chris Schultz at the Super Bowl media day in Jacksonville. He was with Glen Suitor who I had met several times. I believe Chris is one of the most knowledgable CFL and NFL media guys.

CFL week 7 contd.

Fri night. Eskimos defeat Roughriders 28-20 in a exciting game in Edmonton. Esks at -2 won the bet. The Over of 48 pts won as the Over/Under was 45.5

Thurs night. Stampeders defeat Tiger-Cats 31-20. The +4 for the Stampeders wins. The Under of 51 points wins.

This is the last tme I'm placing a bet on the Tiger-Cats. They are overhyped and unreliable.

In CFL week 6, I went 2-2 in win/losses, 2-2 against the spread, 2-2 in Under/Over picks. I lost the 1 bet that I placed.

From Wed Aug 8. CFL week 6 contd. The odds are now out!

I'm going for the Riders and the Over. The O/U of 45.5 is low but it could well be a battle of defenses and special teams. I still don't believe the Eskimos are as good as their record shows.

From Mon July 30. CFL week 5 results, comments, tweets! Stamps Ralph Dog in my 2001 Grey Cup TotalCFL TV show from Montreal!

A great game Thursday night. Bombers get their 1st win of the season defeating Eskimos 23-22. The +3 spread for the Eskimos won the bet along with the Under of 46.5.

Another close game on Friday night. Toronto Argos defeated Montreal Alouettes 23-20 in a upset. The games was played in Montreal. The +4.5 spread for the Argos won the bet or did it re bet365.net is again now saying Argos were favored? Confusion! The Under of 43 also won as the Over/Under was 56.5.

Wow! Hamilton Tiger-Cats defeated Saskatchewan Riders 35-34. Tiger-Cats won the spread if it was in fact -3.5 to Riders. Confusion though re bet365.net and spreads as mentioned above. 69 pts were scored thus the Over won the bet.

Wow! I believe this is the toughest week to pick so far in the 2012 CFL season.

These picks may change before game time. For the win I went for;

Eskimos and the Under. Bombers are 0-4 but are home this week for the 1st time. That can be the only reason why they are 3 pt favorites. If Buck Pierce was QB for the Bombers I would pick them. Eskimos I believe will win in a low scoring game.

Alouettes and the Under. I can't see the Argos defeating the Alouettes in Montreal but again this game could go either way.

Riders and the Over. Wow! This should be a rippa of a game in watermelon head land. It really could go either way but I believe it will be high scoring. I know the watermelon head great fans will be into Tiger-Cats Henry Burris huge. Henry is the former Rider and Stampeder QB.

BC Lions and the Over. I believe the BC Lions will bounce back after a bad lose at home last Friday night to the Eskimos. I've really enjoyed being at the games watching the Lions win quite a few games in Calgary over the past 10 years so being away shouldn't be a factor.

Against the spread I went as above. I went for 3 underdogs and Lions I believe can win by more than -2.5.

CFL week 5 bets. I'm actually not placing any bets this week. I'm not confident in any of the games. I want to continue to place small bets for some fun when I'm confident in a team and their spread, thus sensible betting. The Under/Over is damn hard as well. eg I'm thinking the Eskimos vs Bombers will be a low scoring game but with lots of punting in the CFL and more special teams plays Eskimos could score big points on Special teams and also on turnovers by their defense.

From Sun July 22. CFL week 4 results!

Wednesady night. Toronto Argonauts defeated Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-20. The Under won. The +6.5 for the Bombers won the spread.

Wow! Thursday night, Stampeders come from behind to defeat Riders 41-38. It was thus a push as Stamps were favoured by 3. The Over won the bet. Again I'm sure there were fans that left the stadium early thinking the Stamps would loose.
The last 3 minutes in the CFL is incrediable with the clock stopping at the end of each play. The NFL should really take note of this great CFL rule.

Friday night. I'm shocked but then again that's the exciting CFL! Eskimos defeated Lions in Vancouver 27-14. Eskimos +7.5 won the spread. The Under won.

Tiger-Cats and the Over. Again I may change this before game time as it again should be a great game.

Against the spread I went as above.

On another Sports betting site, I placed bets on Argo's at -7.5 and BC Lions at -7.5. The odds weren't as good as above but I have $ in this account.

From Mon July 16. CFL week 3 results in Pickem Challenge, spreads U/O, picks and bets!

Montreal Alouettes defeated Calgary Stampeders 33-32. The +6 pt spread for the Stampeders won the point spread bet. A total of 65 pts were scored for the game thus the "Over bet" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 56.5 pts.

Edmonton Eskimos defeated Winnipeg Blue Bombers 42-10. The -1 pt spread for the Eskimos won the point spread bet. A total of 52 pts were scored for the game thus the "Over" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 45.5 pts

Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated BC Lions 23-20. The +2.5 pt spread for the Riders won the point spread bet. A total of 43 pts were scored for the game thus the "Under" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 54.5 pts.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats defetaed Toronto Argonauts 36-27. The -3.5 pt spread for the Tiger-Cats won the point spread bet. A total of 63 pts were scored for the game thus the "Over" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 54.5 pts.


I had a average week 3. Going 2-2 straight up, 2-2 against the spread, 2-2 in the Under/Over and 1-2 in the 3 bets I placed.

Tiger-Cats and the Under. I haven't looked forward to a Argos vs Tiger-Cats in a longtime but I am this week. I don't like the way the querterbacks in the CFL and NFL get over exposed but this week I want to mention two star quarterbacks of the West the past years in Ricky Ray and Henry Burris. They will be playing against eachother in this game.

Against the spread I went as above except I went for Stampeders to cover the 6 pt spread altgough as above I don't think they will win.

On another Sports betting site, I placed bets on Bombers at +1.5, BC Lions at -3 and Tiger-Cats at -3.5. The Under/Over is tricky!

Toronto Argonauts defeated Calgary Stampeders 39-36. The +5 pt spread for the Argos won the bet. A total of 75 pts were scored for the game thus the "Over bet" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 47.5 pts.

Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated Edmonton Eskimos 17-1. The -4 pt spread for the Riders won the bet. A total of only 18 pts were scored for the game thus the "Under" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 48.5 pts.

I had a good week 2. Going 4-0 straight up, 3-1 against the spread, 2-2 in the Under/Over and 2-0 in the 2 bets I placed. The Under/Over is hard to predict.

I also placed bets on Argos at +3.5 (Damn it was worse odds but I have $$$ in another Sports betting account.) and Riders at -4. The Under/Over is tricky! In week 1 I had 2 wins against spreads, 2 right in the U/O, went 1 out of 3 in bets! I bet $3 or $5 per game for some fun and a bit of added interest. Sports betting is hard.

Edmonton Eskimos defeated Toronto Argonauts 19-15. The -2.5 pt spread for the Eskimos won the bet. A total of 34 pts were scored for the game thus the "Under" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 49.5 pts.

Calgary Stampeders defeated Montreal Alouettes 38-10. The -2.5 pt spread for the Stampeders won the bet. A total of 48 pts were scored for the game thus the "Under" won as the "Over/Under" was set at 55.5 pts.

RIP Coach Richard Harris! Retweets about Richard!

Richard died this week in his Blue Bombers office. He was hugely respected as a coach and as a great man in the CFL. He was the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Defensive Line coach and Assistant Head Coach. He was also a former NFL player of 7 years. I met Richard briefly at a BC Lions Fans Club meeting and also saw Richard mingling with BC Lions fans after the games when he was a coach at the BC Lions. There was just a great tribute to Richard on TSN as part of the Bombers vs Lions pregame show.
