Oldpaints massive tailgate party it was great to interview Derek from
Lionbackers.com & 13thman.com with cameraman Blaine & the beautiful
Monika for the upcoming "The Big Show". Cwoc Monika in here Red &
White outfit looked absolutely stunning.
Thanks to Howard & Jerry Nuffy at Roadsportautocredit.com I had a fantastic
time with Nuffy in the QR77 corporate box. The people I met & chatted to
included Mark Steven & Billy Powers from QR77. There were all these Cwoc's
walking around in the corporate boxes or were they Cwoa's ? I think maybe Cwoa's
Cool Women Of America as they seemed to be coming from Mr Michael Feterik's box
watching Kevin play at QB ?

off to Mooses where I had the pleasure of meeting for the 1st time star running
back Lawrence Phillips & again many Cwoc's were in attendance. A big big day

Thurs, July 24, 03 "The BC Lions today announced that running back Willie
Hurst has been released." Myk Aussie
Hurst played in six games
for the Lions last year, rushing for 288 yards on 55 carries, for an average of
5.2 yards per carry. However, his 2002 campaign was plagued by injuries.
This season he played in four games, but his duties were relegated to mostly
those of a kick returner, after the Lions signed Kelvin Anderson in mid-June. So
far this year Hurst had 43 yards on nine carries, for an average of 4.8 yards
per rush, and had 110 yards on seven kickoff returns.

What a great game it
was. Again a good game of defenses & Damon Allen. But then the Riders QB
Nealon Greene "Finally Finds" star Stampeder recruit Travis Moore for
a 1st down Nealon stars to then also complete a pass to Corey Grant who then dodges,
ducks & weaves all the way to the empty End Zone. The Riders 2
Touchdowns in the last 48 secs both by Corey Grant to come back & win. Truly
Amazing!
Star QB Damon Allen in his 300th but new to the Argo's was sensational all
game, running, scrambling, dodging, weaving & then after all that
brilliantly passing on the run as he has for the past seven years at the BC
Lions! The 2003 CFL season is off to the most exciting start in the past 5 years
if not ever, Tuesdays game went to Overtime.

What a
great start to the 2003 CFL season as the Montreal Alouettes the current Grey
Cup Champs defeat the 2001 Grey Cup Champs the Calgary Stampeders in Overtime at
the Magnificent McMahon Stadium. The final score 23 to 20! New Stamps
Head Coach Jim Barker Tells Marcus to go for the Touchdown & win instead of
the field goal & a draw! Mike Hogan & Mark Steven CFL radio experts in
TO & Calgary back Jim's decision! We will see what Gabriel Morency thinks as
I for the 3rd night straight report on the Al's out West for Gabriewls great
Montreal SportsRage radio.
It was a very warm night & it got warmer as the Calgary policemen had to
Stamp out Jerry Nuffy's smoke & he is out! Escorted out! Serious Mr Rooke's
Red coat man warned Nuffy 3 times not to smoke, Nuffy didn't think he was
serious but then as Nuffy's escorted out 10 min to go 4th Quarter by the 2 Boys
in Blue. It was one of those
poison type cigarettes Playa's I think. No cigarette smoking anywhere is the new
FTroop rule not even in the end zone.
Crandell over Dickenson was the 3-0 vote by Mr Rooke's security men behind the
Winter Olympic Rings. "Myk Aussie Crandell got us a Grey Cup. Dave
Didn't!". Fair point & yes I myself again enjoyed Marcus's bullet like
precise passes mainly in the 1st half as he led the Stamps to a good CFL size
20-1 lead. Mooses mate Lawrence Larry Phillips the NFLer had a great run but it
was only one as his mates but now opponents hammered him like a bit like they hammered
the Grey Cup! It was great to see the star Running Back in Black Red &
White. Welcome to Calgary Lawrence. I was very impressed with another new Stamps
& also a former NFLer Albert Connell's game at Wide Receiver 5 catches for
103 yards.
Mr Michael Feterik & Mr Fred Fateri the new Stamps bosses know
as The FTroop enjoy a tour of Oldpaints Massive Tailgate party. Mr Fetari is a
man of his word it seems as he told Oldpaint he would join us every home game
& so far he has 2 out of 2. Bet the bosses were damn hot in their suits
though.
The
cell phone rings at 6.50pm & it's Gabriel Morency so I again get a high from
reporting on location for SportsRage The Team Montreal. I make many new TotalCFL
friends throughout the big night & had the pleasure of having me photo taken
at Mooses with one of the new Stamps Stars David Sanchez. David a Canadian
starred at the Montreal Alouettes & also played great games recently with
the San Diego Chargers. Also at Mooses was Marcus, an injured Aldi Henry, many
of the players & many Cwocs. Me & Rider TotalCFler then ventured to 12th
Street to celebrate with Anwar Stewart & the Al's. After an hour or so the
Al's then continued on towards Charlene's Bar but it was a great but blurry walk
home for me, 2.00am.
Alouettes report Don
Matthews & his Alouettes install confidence in new boy Matt Kellett who was
last week dumped by Wally at the Lions. Matt last night kicked 5 goals thats 15
points out of the 23. Way to go Matt I think you needed a change as
unfortunately me BC booze Bother mates were even ripping into in the 2002 Grey
Cup Street parade. Serious the funny fella's were dragging Matt along the
bitumen road by a rope around his helmet. Jack Mr Viagra & the boys were not
happy with Matt but I thought he recovered good from the one disaster game he
had a t Pammy's BC Place early on in 2002.
Anwar Stewart has a big play, his name bellows across the PA & the Stamps
fans clap the former Stampeder & MYKwebTV star! Anthony Calvillo was very
Cool Under Pressure in the 2nd half after Marcus Crandell lead the Stamps to a
good CFL 20-1 lead.

For the Al's Grey Cup
star receiver Jeremaine Copeland was good with 5 catches for 77 yards, new NFLer
in Stampeder town Albert Connell a very good 5 catches for 103 yards. Al's
Anthony Calvillo The Grey
Cup 2002 MVP had 19
passes for 33 completions for 243 very good yards. Stamps Marcus Crandell The Grey
Cup 2001 MVP 16-36 for
221 very good yards. Lawrence Larry Phillips 17 runs for 44 very hard
bashed up couldn't get clear yards but Larry also has 2 good catches for 25
yards. Al's running backs Eric Lapointe & Graham had a few runs for close on
50 yards each.
It
can be seen from these star stats that it really was a great defensive game
especially by the Stamps in the 1st half & then by the Al's in the 2nd half.
Stamps Big White fella Joe Fleming grabs Calvillo's legs in the end zone for a
rippa of a sack & Stamps score no not a Rouge but a 2 pointer. The big
popular Linebacker was very happy with his gereat diving efffort
especially after he had a year resting. Al's Corner Back Wayne Shaw
had a good interception & then a great run back way down the field.

"Total-CFLers Bear in mind that I'm still a little emotional (d*mn PWI)
about the game tonight.
Offense:
I thought that they executed the offence reasonably well for the first
game in the season, but there's certainly room for growth. Red zone
production, which had been a focus of this team, was of particular concern.
Defense:
They played quite well. I was surprised that Montreal didn't
capitalize on Calgary's inexperience over the middle as much as they could have.
Many dropped passes saved Calgary's bacon.
Special
teams: I'm certainly more impressed with Calgary's special teams, although
McGarity's return for a TD could easily have been negated by an illegal block
that the refs missed.
While
I respect the point that Barker was trying to make by going for it on 3rd and 2,
I don't think it was the right call, regardless of the outcome. If we were
playing under last year's rules, it was the right call, since the bonus point to
Montreal means nothing. It's nice to see an offence with guts, though,
regardless of the outcome.
On
the whole, I'm of two different minds. Calgary should have won, which
would have been a huge boost. But as a team that is still trying to gel,
to play the game into OT (despite squandering a decent lead), probably has it's
own merits in terms of team building. This team is miles ahead of where it
might otherwise be, and has a great upside, IMO. I look forward to another
tough test with Edmonton next week." Sugarfoot Total-CFLer
