Europe League stars to shine in NFL preseason action!" Myk Aussie
From Neil Reynolds Public Relations Manager NFL Europe
Goodman touchdown double leads Pack to victory;
Holcomb wins starting QB position in Cleveland
FORMER Scottish Claymores running back HERBERT 'WHISPER' GOODMAN enhanced his
NFL chances this weekend as he scored two touchdowns to help the Green Bay
Packers record a 38-31 victory over the Cleveland Browns in preseason action.
Goodman, who led NFL Europe in rushing as a member of the Claymores in 2002,
rushed for 80 yards on 19 carries and scored on an 8-yard run. He also led
the team with 4 catches for 56 yards and found the end zone for a second
time on a 13-yard pass from Akili Smith.
Packers head coach MIKE SHERMAN said: "We sent Herbert to NFL Europe to
gain
valuable experience and he looks a very strong running back right now."
Green Bay running backs coach SYLVESTER CROOM added: "Herbert played very
well. Now he has to go out and do it again next week. He's running much
stronger than in previous years and he's a more powerful player than before
he went to NFL Europe."
Browns' quarterback KELLY HOLCOMB was outstanding in a losing effort and was
rewarded by being named the team's number one passer for the upcoming
season. Holcomb (Barcelona 1996) completed 7 of 10 passes for 166 yards and
2 touchdowns, connecting on scoring strikes of 82 yards to William Green and
14 yards to Steve Heiden.
Holcomb said: "I always believed deep down I could be a starting
quarterback
in the NFL. I always knew in my heart that I could play at this level if I
was given the opportunity."
Quarterback CRAIG NALL (Scotland 2003) was also in action during the game
and completed 3 of 5 passes for 37 yards.
In addition to Goodman, another four players with NFL Europe League
experience scored touchdowns in this weekend's preseason action -

running back JOHNATHAN REESE (Amsterdam 2003), Kansas City Chiefs tight end
DWAYNE BLAKLEY (Rhein 2003) and Denver Broncos quarterback JARIOUS JACKSON
(Barcelona 2001).
Jackson was one of a handful of NFLEL quarterbacks to shine this weekend. He
completed 5 of 9 passes for 56 yards and carried 4 times for 15 yards and a
touchdown as the Broncos recorded a 15-10 win over the Chicago Bears.
Safety NICK FERGUSON (Rhein 1999-2000) led Denver's defensive effort with 8
tackles, while linebacker DONNIE SPRAGAN (Amsterdam 2001) added 4 stops.

SHEPHERD (Scotland 2003) led Chicago with 2 receptions for 57 yards.
In Jacksonville, Miami Dolphins quarterback JAY FIEDLER (Amsterdam 1997) saw
his first playing time of the preseason and looked sharp, completing 7 of 11
passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. However, the Jaguars came back in the
second half to record a 27-23 victory as QUINN GRAY (Frankfurt 2003)
completed 5 of 12 passes for 50 yards.

Jacksonville, while wideout MATTHEW HATCHETTE led the team with 4 receptions
for 46 yards. Kicker JAMES TUTHILL (Rhein 2001) landed a 21-yard kick and
also added an extra point.
TODD BOUMAN (Barcelona 1999) was another quarterback in fine form as he
helped the New Orleans Saints to a 22-17 victory over the New York Jets.
Bouman completed 9 of 13 attempts for 81 yards and threw a 6-yard touchdown
pass to Boo Williams. Performing well for the Jets was Reese, who scored on
a 1-yard run and carried 6 times for 11 yards.
In Cincinnati, JON KITNA (Barcelona 1997) led the hometown Bengals to a
23-10 defeat of the Detroit Lions by completing 10 of 15 attempts for 90

The game for fifth and sixth place will feature Spain's IES Pere Vives (2-2)

NFL Europe Flag Football Manager BERND VON LAPP said: "The sportsmanship of
all the teams is really excellent and that has been shown on and off the field.
These kids are really enjoying themselves even in the middle of a tough
competition.
"The European teams have really fared well in this tournament and I feel a
little sorry for the Netherlands as they had a great chance to be world
