Wow! This was big. I was lucky to get through and on his show yesterday and
I talked about the time I tried to hunt down and interview Brett

I also talked about the Denver Broncos along with
saying NFL is the equal best game in the World along with Aussie Rules Football.
I talked about how Darren Bennett changed the NFL the way NFL punters now punt
using the Aussie Rules Footy drop punt when they need to land the ball inside
the 20 yard line. I also talked about Aussies Mat McBriar, Ben Graham and Sav
Rocca currently punting in the NFL along with how the Pittsburg Steelers punter
Daniel Sepulveda who is from the USA learnt and
effectively uses the Aussie drop punt.
I
believe Jim Rome has about 5 million listeners daily. He is the biggest sports
radio guy in USA with his show going to many USA markets. Many places in Canada
also carry his daily 3 hour sports radio show. I met Jim Rome at the Super Bowl
Media centres in 03 and 04 and thus I believe this is a reason why I got through
and thus got on his very popular sports radio show yesterday. Next time I need
to slow down a bit and realize that the large USA audience is not used to my
Aussie accent. I tend to get very excitable and passionate when I talk sports on
USA and CDN radio especially when I talk about Aussie Rules Footy.
I just
subscribed to his online pod cast to re listen and I was on for 3 minutes
without him interrupting at all. He bagged me a bit after the 3 minutes
saying "I didn't understand Myk, I heard about Brett Favre and Darren
Bennett." but then he said "No Myk I did understand you. That was Myk for
3, 5, 8 minutes however long that was and yes we do see Myk down at Super
Bowl's in the Media Centre. That was Myk Aussie in Calgary". If you are a

Chargers, 47th season. 2005 Record: 9-7-0. One AFL title as Los
Angeles Chargers, one runner up in AFL Championship. One Super Bowl loss
('95 v. San Fran./), one AFC Championship, with Darren Bennett and
mate Vern Hippler onboard, '95. Coach: Marty(ball) Schottenheimer. QBs:
Phil Rivers, A.J. Feeley, Charles Whitehurst (son of 7-yr. NFL vet Dave
Whitehurst, 1997-83, G.Bay/K.C.).
Other Key players: rookies CB Antonio Cromartie, OT Marc McNeil,
Whitehurst. Vets: RB LaDainian Tomlinson, the League's best overall
player (!), WRs Kassim Osgood [Myk and I scouted him on the sidelines at
the Feb. '03 57th Hula Bowl] and Eric Parker, to beat out fast fading
Keenan McCardell, OLm: Mike Goff (one Super Bowl appearance), Nick
Hardwick, Cory Lekkerkerker [no, I didn't misspell the kid's name], Wes
Sims, DLm Luis Castillo & Jamal Williams. TEs Aaron Shea, just in from
Cleveland and Antonio Gates. Just retired LB Tiana Seau, Jr. will be
missed. Look for him to go in the Hall-of-Fame in five years!
Outlook: A new look! One year after Doug Flutie got his release, the
Chargers jettisoned one of the best QBs in the League in Drew Brees,
from TX., by way of Purdue. Brees looked at one point like he was going
to be another Ryan Leaf (don't look now folkes, but Leaf's kid brother is
going to be a star in the NCAAs, too.). Then after wrestling the job away
from Flutie and Rivers, who starts now, he turned into a star! Brees was
arguably one of the top 3 QBs in Pro Football the last couple of years.
About him going to New Orlean, don't weep for him not being able to hand
the ball off to one of the most dangerous men in Pro Footy, as Myk Aussie
calls it, Tomlinson (3 or 4 passing for 3 TDs, 51 catches for 2 more TDs,
one fumble recovery for one more TD and 18
more TDs on 'only' 1,462 yds., rushing!).
Brees now has Reggie Bush to hand off to. Rivers will now start his real
career with both Brees and Flutie, who almost returned as a reserve,
again, out of the way. Flutie
thinks Rivers, who's brother from
U.VA had a short CFL/NFL/NFL E
career, will be super. So
will the Kicking game with P/H Mike Scifres and K Nate Kaeding. The
coverage, a Schottenheimer hallmark and returns will be first rate, too.
People think that Marty and G.M. A.J. Smith and he don't get along that
well. Bull! They both agreed that $9/mil. was too much to pay for Brees
after right (passing) shoulder surgery. So in goes top pick Rivers from
two years ago. Rivers may have thrown only 30 passes in two NFL seasons
but 2 were for TDs and there's many more to come. Osgood and Parker will
be first rate receivers and nobody in the division has better Defence, at
least not on paper.
On the Lines, first Offencive the Chargers re-upped the depth with smart
draft picks. On the Defencive side of the ball, expect Jacques Cesare and
Ryon Bingham to pick things up inside. The loss of stud Seau won't be
irreplacable with Donnie Edwards, a smart ex-Chief Marty has had for
years and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, KS/LB Dave Binn and Shawne Merriman, a
cross between Harry Carson and Sam Mills. Junior Seau who? The big hope
is the secondary if Terrance Kiel, the SS comes back from injuries OK.
The rest of the D-backfield is: Clint Hart, CBs: Ray Walls, Andre Lott
(no realtion), Drayton Florence and Bhawoh Jue.
Prediction: The Chargers will win the division because Rivers already
served his apprenticeship the last two years, behind Flutie and Brees. He
has all the tools and how hard is it to hand off to the best RB-player in
the entire League 27 times a game? Osgood seems ready to bloom and the
Defence is the best in the Conference, unless New England's finds the
Fountain of Youth. 11-5-0, AFC Championship where they will lose to Tom
Brady and Co." Moose

Chargers are hosting Fan Fest 2006!" Myk

Chargers today. Presented
by Bud Light, on Saturday, August 5 at Qualcomm Stadium. Parking and
admission are free. Stadium gates open at 9:30 am and activities kick off
at 10:15.
Fan Fest is the fans’ best opportunity to meet the 2006 team and watch an
official team practice. Kids 14 and under will be able to meet players
and Charger Girls beginning at 10:15. Other fun activities for kids will
include temporary tattoos, balloon animals and a variety of fun
surprises. And fans of all ages should bring a hefty appetite to enjoy $1
hot dogs and sodas.
While fans are taking advantage of this rare opportunity to meet NFL
players and see an NFL practice from 11-1 pm, they can also check out the
best season seats available for purchase. Full and mini-season ticket
packages as well as tickets to select individual games are available at
Gate C. The Chargers Store and merchandise stands will be open selling
the latest in Chargers jerseys, hats and shirts.

From Moose "San Diego Chargers, 46th season, 0-1 in Super
Bowls. Coach: Marty(ball) Schottenheimer QBs: Drew Brees (see how he does
without sage Douglas Flutie this year…), Phil Rivers (ex-CFL/NFL/NFL E
QB’s brother from VA), Cleo Lemon (NFL E/Af2). Other Key players:
LaDainian Tomlinson, now the best RB in Pro Football (apologies to
Ottawa’s Josh Ranek and Seattle’s Sean Alexander), newly resigned TE/ST’r
Antonio Gates, the ex-college basketball player. Marty cleaned house,
again, sort of. Kinda a gutsy move last year to draft Manning’s kid
brother, who was instructed by HIS PARENTS that he didn’t want play in
sun city! Like Timothy Leary once said, “Never trust anyone over thrity!”
The Chargers were so good last year that $900,000-man, Doug Flutie was
THIRD-STRING for 11 games! And it was LEGIT! Marty and new G.M., A.J.
Smith (like the late Reggie White, Flutie and Sean Landeta – he started
in the USFL with the Chicago Blitz – under future Arena League Founder
– JIM FOSTER!) Smith cut the Bolts ties with Flutieball, letting him go
home for his (maybe!) last season and with the New England Patriots. The
Chargers got bounced by the fuedin’ N.J. Jets in the first round of the
playoffs (a typical Martyball trait, I’m sorry to say – again), In a
game that saw Brees revert back to a familiar pattern – a killer INT.
in the second Half. Is Brees going to regress again? Not on your
life!
Especially with Tomlinson (the best in Pro Football since the late Walter
Jerry Payton) and the athletic Gates, the second best TE in the League
only to Kansas City’s Tony Gonzales. The Defence could use some help
and if anybody gets hurt on the line – the perfect replacement is
available at home – John Parella, ‘retired’ by the Raidahs in May
(salary cap). You may remember Parella from ‘Football Fan Frenzy’ and
he played on three Super Bowl ‘runner-up’ teams, including the
’94-’95 Chargers. Igor Olsavsky wasn’t much inis rookie year and
this team still misses the pass rush of Marcellus (travelin’) Wiley.
The Special Teams wasn’t very special in the playoffs and the Chargers
made a big mistake thinking that Aussie thunder-foot Darren Bennett, the
best PUNTER IN BOTH THE NFL AND THE NFL E’s history, was through.
Bennett lead the NFC In punts inside both the 10 and 20 yard lines and
missed the Pro Bowl for only the fourth time in his Hall-of-Fame-to-be
career.
Don’t give up on these guys, but they won’t win the Division – yet.
Predicted Finish: 11-5-0, this time they will win a playoff game –
over Peyton Manning and the Colts. Why? Because Brees is now
better than Manning either Manning! Second in AFC West to Denver."

DREW BREES is NFL’s No. 3-rated passer (108.7). Brees has 9 TDs w/o INT
in past 2 games. Brees owns league’s 2nd-best 4th qtr passer rating of
120.5 & among AFC passers on 3rd down stands 4th (102.9)……RB LA
DAINIAN TOMLINSON has rushing TD in 8 of 9 games, including past 6 in
row. Among NFL’s top 50 rushers, RB JESSE CHATMAN has second-highest
7.2 yard-per-carry avg……TE ANTONIO GATES leads all NFL players with
54 catches & is league’s leading 3rd down receiver w/ 19

July 23, 03 "Moose's Pro Doug Flutie San Diego Chargers preview with my special
comments!" Myk Aussie
The
San Diego
Chargers are one of my equal favorite 2nd teams. Mainly due to the fact
one of the most famous Aussies ever is still starring as the Punter,
Darren Bennett the former AFL, Australian Football League Full Forward.
Here's Mooses preview.
San Diego Chargers {started in '60 as L.A. Chargers}, '02 record:
8-8-0...Coach Marty Schottenheimer. Marty took a titanic gamble last
season @ QB by benching ageless & popular Douglas Flutieball &
going w/ Brew Drees - & they lost, finishing @ .500 on the yr. &
out of the playoffs for the 3rd yr. in
a row.
Problem is Brees still isn't ready for prime time but @ least they've
still got Flute on staff for another yr. or so & @ least he's not
Peyton Manning, the interception
machine, who never shows up in big games, like Vanderjagt correctly said
Flutieball made a token appearance going 3 of 11 for 64 yds & rushing
for 6 more in the narrow loss to his former team, Buffalo.
Salvaging the .500 record was outstanding RB Ladanian Thomlinson...Longtime
LB Tiana Seau, better known as Junior was sent packing in the off season,
in an obvious cost-cutting move, weakening the defense. Also the entire
starting secondary from last season was also let go. WR/KR Tim Dwight
still has burners speed & TE Stephen Alexander can still haul 'em in,
too but Curtis Conway was let go to be replaced by huge ex-Card Dave
Boston, who's almost big enough to play TE himself.
Marcellus Wiley another ex-Bill like Flutie should lead the team in sacks
again...'O' line of Toni Fonoti, Bob Hallen, Dave Binn, Jason Ball is
just good enough to break even w/, though I doubt the Bolts will even do
that...If Flutie isn't starting by Oct. ('cause it's my B-day- that's
why!) this team will be in
trouble, again. Canadian K Steve Christie, one of three in the NFL from
Oakville, Ontario, is still got leg & game. And Myk's & my mate
from San Diego, Aussie Punter Darren Bennett is better after several
surgeries he said were cause to slow him down & keep him out of the
Pro Bowl the last two yrs. I predict that we will see both Christie &
Bennett in the '04 Pro Bowl...Predicted finish:
6-10-0...Marty will be looking for a new job w/ a new team in '04...

disappoints me that you think The Chargers will struggle this year. I
know former Charger Dave Sanchez is here in Calgary & looking great
in Defense. Maybe they will recall him at some stage. Good luck to one of
