Washington as he is missing Monika! Scotty's update on this big
       rumor!" Myk Aussie "The
Redskins are trying to make the best of a bad situation. They were caught
after they overpaid for overrated Lavar Arrington. Bailey just would not
accept a back loaded contract, and I do not blame him. Bottom line, the
Skins could not afford the $6 million dollar franchise tag fee, so
getting an all pro caliber back in Portis is pretty good although giving
away a number 2 is a bit too much.
Mike Anderson rejected a contract offer from the Broncos. He will be a
       free agent.

The Broncos will either use undersized Quentin Griffin (Warrick Dunn type
size) or draft a running back in this year's draft. Chris Perry from
Michigan would fit nicely in Denver." Scott

        A
report from Scotty a Redskin "The proposed trade between to All-Pro
players is coming close to a reality. Champ Bailey, the Pro Bowl
cornerback for the Washington Redskins the last 4 years, is awaiting a
written contract proposal from the Denver Broncos. If it is agreed,
Bailey will be traded to the Denver Broncos (as well as the Skins 2nd
round pick in 2004) for Pro Bowl running back Clinton Portis.

        Washington
would get the running back that they desperately need in order to make
new coach Joe Gibbs' offense work. The Skins' running back corps last
year was terrible. The Skins had only one back break 100 yards
in one game (Trung Candidate against New Orleans) out of 16.

        The
Skins will also lose their best defender. Bailey is considered one of
the best, if not the best shutdown corners in the NFL. The Skins
put the "Franchise Tag" on Bailey last week because the
two sides could not reach on a contract agreement. The Skins
offered 9 years, $55 million, most of it back loaded for salary cap
reasons, during the season. Bailey rejected because he wanted most of
        the money in the beginning.

        Portis
still has 2 years on his contract, paying around $300,000 a year. He has
told the Broncos brass that he wants to renegotiate his contract or else
he will holdout from training camp. The former All-American
from the University of Miami has run for over 1,500 yards his first two
seasons, made the Pro Bowl for his first two years, plus he is only 22
years old. The Skins brass are under no obligation to renew Portis'
contract should he be traded to Washington.

        If
this happens, Joe Gibbs will definitely put his stamp on the offense for
next season with the proposed trade and the signing of Mark Brunell, the
former All-Pro quarterback from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Denver is
gambling that their excellent offensive line will provide another
running back with a 1,500 yard season. Since 1997, 4 running backs have
rushed for over 1000 in a season Terrell Davis, Olandis Gary, Mike
Anderson, and Clinton Portis, and 3 for over 1,500 yards Olandis Gary
ran for over 1,100 yards in 11 games in 1999" Scotty

 From
Scotty "I am not shocked that Peyton Place threw four interceptions.
Belichick thrives on devising defenses over pass happy teams. Plus the
Colts are a dome team playing in the snow and cold. Dome teams playing on
the road in conference championship games - the record - 0-8.
WILL THE EAGLES FINALLY GET A DECENT RECEIVER???? They have been getting
away with this for over three years. Todd Pinkston, Freddie Mitchell,
James Thrash would be third or fourth receivers on any other team. 2 of
the three interceptions that McNabb threw were not his fault. Pinkston
can not break the jam on a slant route (Maybe the worst route ever), and
James Thrash gets nailed by Mike Minter and intercepted by Ricky Manning.
That pass was on the money by McNabb.

Early prediction on SUPER BOWL XXXVIII - New England over Carolina in a
       low scoring, physical affair.

 Three key factors:

Jake Delhomme v. Belichick's pass defense. If the running game gets going
for the Panthers, Belichick's defense will lose some of its teeth. Jake
also needs to take what the defense gives him. If the Pats defense stops
the run, this will be a Kerry Collins' type Super Bowl for the Cajun
Snake. The Panthers were successful because they put themselves in 2 and
medium and 3 and short situations.

This may be simple, but harder for Belichick to plan because his defense
thrives on passing teams that rely on timing routes (i.e. Rams and
Colts). Panthers' offense is old fashioned smashmouth and do not rely on
       timing as much.

Carolina's run offense v. Ted Washington. See above

Tom Brady v. front four of the Panthers. Bill Parcells called Carolina's
front four the best in the league. They led the league with 23 batted
balls from the line of scrimmage. Brady has been better with the deep
ball this year, but he is best at managing a game. He takes what the
defense gives him and the receivers run good routes. The Pats do not
possess a standout receiver, however, Brady does a good job distributing
to many different receivers. The Panthers must put pressure on Brady to
disrupt some of his timing. later" Scott

Once Donovan McNabb cracked that rib, it was curtains for buddy Ken (N.L.L)
Saroka's Eagles. Sister Coy Detmer (Brah of Detroit 3rd stringer Ty
       Detmer)
flamed out like an old barbeque when the heat got turned up in the fourth
quarter v. Dan Morgan, Ricky Manning, Jr., Mike Rucker, Brinson Buckner
       and
the rest of Sam Mills great Carolina 'D'. The Eagles now know they need
       to
move A.J. Feeley, Brah of Atlanta's ex-Arena K, Jay, to second on the
       depth
 chart at pivot. Seriously,

I'm getting that eerie feeling that the Panthers are now this years Buc's.
Myk thought I was crazy last year when I said starting about on Tuesday
of Super Bowl week that I was very sure the Buc's would paste da raidahs.
When is somebody in the major media going to do a decent article on Jake
(the cajan snake) Delhomme, QB for the Panthers. This guy just doesn't
lose games! This years version of Brad Johnson - there. Another Buc's
comparison. The Buc's might have been able to get to back-to-back Super
Bowls if they hadn't gotten too selfish (a la Warren Sapp, an appropriate
name!) and hadn't lost this generation's Riggo, Mike (mad dog)
 Alstott.

But for now it's MY beloved Carolina Panthers v. Tom Brady (Myk's Pro
       Bowl
buddy) and the {former} patsies, the best ones since Lee Harvey Oswald.
The Patriots are going to their fourth career Super Bowl and the Panthers
their first. The Panthers were 1-15-0 two seasons ago and only came into
the League in '95 (w/ Jacksonville). Seriously, Brady is the man of NFL
QBs right now, as Myk's OTHER buddy, Peyton Manning who'd been having an
outrageous year, really until his meltdown in frozen Foxboro, when he
reverted to form with 4 picks thrown.

Manning will never win a Super Bowl - I guarantee it! But Brady might go
2 for 2 Feb. 1st. And he's only 26. Scary (not spice). XFL Flashback: How
about 'He hate me" Rod Smart's play this year - and an ex-Eagle at
that! Also an ex-Edmonton Eskimo but they didn't need him the last two
years going to back to back Grey Cups. Best wishes to Sam Mills, in my
opinion the greatest LB to ever play Pro Football. Toronto (1 game) '82,
USFL Stars '83-'85, Saints '86-'94, Panthers '95-'98. He's the Carolina
LB coach and battling cancer which is in remissions.
 The
Oakland Raiders have decided not to wait to interview New England
Patriotsassistant coaches 'D' Coordinator Romeo Crenell and  'O' Coordinator
       Charlie Weis.
They would have had to wait until after Super Bowl XXXVIII since the
       Patriots
are in the big game. Da Raidahs have decided to announce they are hiring
       former
New York Giants and Dallas Ast. Coach Sean Payton, who would be the
       youngest
H.Coach in the NFL. Payton (no relation) was also a QB during the NFL
       strike of '87
and played in Arena Bowl I! (Also in '87) Tennessee Titans have announced
       they
will NOT retain the services of 'Pres.' Jeff Diamond.
 The
team announced Owner Bud Adams has taken over that role as well...(as if
he didn't really have it before anyway)...He must have bowled himself
over in the interview! The Detroit Lions have moved Special Teams
Coordinator Stan Kwan to 'O' Coordinator. He was the last holdover from
former Coach Bobby Ross days. (Now all they need to do is bring back
former Charger TE Werner Hippler, who they had in a full camp in '98) It
looks like former Giants Coach Jim Fassel will Announce on one of the
Networks next season since the Raiders was the last job available. As the
stomach turns I guess. More next week. Be There, Aloha" Moose

 The Patriots
defeated the Colts 24-14 on a snowy cold day in New England while the
Panthers upset the favored Eagles 14-3 in Philadelphia.
 The
New England defense lead by Ty Law & Rodney Harrison were
unbelievable as they the front line pressured and then they picked off
MVP Peyton Manning four times. Super Bowl XXXVI MVP Tom Brady led the New
England offense with great poise while running back Antowain Smith ran
for over 100 yards. The Patriots are back to the Super Bowl after winning
       in 2002.
        The
Panthers defense hit and injured Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. Donovan left
the field late in the game with a believed rib injury after playing in obvious
pain and lack of movement. I firmly believe the late hit that Donovan
received also effected his leg as he could not run properly. Running is a
big part of the star's game. The Eagles receivers were very very soft
& undisciplined. They have now lost the NFC Championship three years
       in a row.
Panthers young QB Jake Delhomme the former NFL Europe star will play in
his first Super Bowl. Before this season Jake had only played in two NFL
games, a great year for Jake & the Panthers. Ricky Manning Jnr was a

TE Pete Metzelaars (who's name means bricklayer in Dutch) will be an
       ast.coach for
the Amsterdam Admirals this spring in the 12th season of the NFL 'AAA's
       in Europe.
Metzelaars played in an NFL record (for TEs) 235 games. Packer Wes Walls
       has now
played in 227 (including playoffs). Walls may retire. Metzelaars played
in four straight Super Bowls with the Bills ('90-93). 44-yr. old South
African born, Canadian raised K Gary Anderson, the NFL's alltime leading
scorer has retired with 2,400 points, trailed only by 42-yr old Danish
born, American raised Mort AndersEn, who's Chefs were also excommunicated
from the NFL playoffs this weekend by lucky Indy.

Indy deserves some credit for winning two games (I consider them upsets)
in two tries SO FAR in the AFC playoffs. But with two starting LBs out
for K.C., it came down to who got the ball last and it were Da Colts.
Forzen Foxboro will be the kryptonite v. Tony Dungy's horses. Carolina
won a season high eighth game by 6 points or less in their double
overtime win @ Saint Louis, who is now 3-6 lifetime (in Saint Louis @
home in the playoffs). Knowing how close Martz and his girl Georgia
Frontere are, he's in no danger. But his boy, Marc (INTs) Bulger could
be. With Jamie Martin available (he was the best backup to Kurt, not Paul
Justin) and Scott Covington due to get work at Amsterdam in the spring,
if I were Bulger I wouldn't stock my wardrobe in Blue and gold with the
Rams logo. How about that 'cajan snake' Delhomme? I really was kidding
earlier this season when I said start carving his bust in Canton NOW, but
you gotta believe the Ain't's have gotta be kickin' them-
selves for not keeping AND TRADING Brooks to Minnesota for Todd Bouman!

It'll be an interesting time for coach Jim Haslett, Bouman and
mistake-prone Brooks next summer! That Panther game was one for the ages
and I got it taped! Gotta like what RB Dashaun Foster said after the
game, tellin' reporters to start giving some love to Jake and CO. (FB
Hoover rated the best FB in NFL by Madden '04!). What a class guy. Now
let's just hope Steve Davis is alright!

HARDBall NFL Report! "News, News, News. New coaches, or I should
say 'gently' recycled ones. Retread Dennis Green, who had more scandels
in his administration than Bill Cliton in the 90's, is the new whuppin'
boy of Bidwell with the Arizona Cardinals. That's an odd couple that I'm
predicting will last about 2.5 to three yrs. Greens' playoff QB from '92,
ESPN's Sean Salisbury will this Mon. come in and talk to the Cards about
being either 'O' coordinator / and or QB coach, since Green knows nothing
about the 'O' side of the ball. The next Brian Billick?
Salisbury took the Winnipeg Bombers (CFL) to two Grey Cups in the late
'80's, before joining the Vikings. Salisbury also spent time in the Pros
with Pittsburgh, Seattle and San Diego as a reserve QB. A good move. Plus
it gets his 'Mr.-know-it-all' persona off ESPN analysis. And while your
at it Sean, get a real haircut! Germanphobe Joe Gibbs who once called his
three Washington QBs (austro- hungarian, Joe Thiesmann, german-american
       Jay Schroder and swiss-american Babe
Laufenberg) "those three krauts" is back coaching the NFL club
with the most racist nickname in the history of pro sports, the
'Redskins'. This may save the club, for now, but I'd still like to see
the league contract one team each from the NFC & AFC. Most simple way
to do it would be to morph the 'Skins and Cards into Virginia Cardinals
and move the Browns and Bengals together into Columbus Brown-Bengals or
some such amalgamation. Gibbs won one real Super Bowl and two
strike-bowls w/ the Hogs, Riggo, the fun bunch and the smurfs back in the
'80's and early 90's until the real brains of the organization: Beatherd,
Henning and Bugel left to become 'Boss Hogs' elsewhere. Let's see how
Gibbs gets slong without Beatherd, the underrated Charlie Casserly and
Henning, who is the 'O' coordinator of my beloved Panthers. The New York
Jets signed Saskatchewan WR/TE Matt Dominguez to a one year contract
instead of signing ex-Ar.FL star Oronde Gadsden. Herm (miracle
of the Meadowlands) Edwards should have signed both and brought them to
       camp.

 Shawn Withy-Allen signed a one-yr. non-guaranteed contract with the
       Vikings, Hawai'ian
braids and all.  Jim Fassel will probably be the new Head Coach of
the Raiders since the Cards and 'Skins got their guys. Both Washington
and Arizona probably did as well as they could under
the circumstances.  Ex-Raider coach Bill Callahan got sick of having
to hold Barret Robbins hand and will be the new Head Coach of the NCAA
program at Univ. of Nebraska. A good choice, with his background. And
last but not least, how about Myk's mate Mat McBriar, our buddy from U /
H (Withy's buddy, too.) signing with Dallas. I don't particularly like
the 'Boys but I do like Jersey Parcells, the coach, who became infuriated
with P Toby Gowins 3 shanks in the loss to Carolina last Saturday. Those
three bad punts allowed Carolina three easy scores en route to a 29-10
win over their usual playoff punching bag, Dallas. I've just printed off
the CFL free agents list and the Houston Texans just
stole one of Saskatchewan's 'O' linemen. If more Riders leave, they may
not make the Grey Cup in Ottawa next year but stay tuned. I'll talk about
these items and more this Sunday night on KUMU 2, A.M. 1500 radio,
       Hawai'i
 The
NFL is about to name it's Hall of Fame Class of '04. It's really a no
brainer as far as the Picks to me. Here's my picks for the next class:
 1) Art Monk - WR, Washington, Philadelphia, New York Jets. 15 yrs. NFL
only. A member of all three Joe Gibbs & co. coached Championship
teams in Washington. Should have been in the Hall of Fame three years
ago! Shame on the NFL. The best "other" Receiver in NFL history
to Jerry Rice (though I still think Steve Larget is the best
       "z" specific WR).

 2) John Elway - QB, all 16 NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos. The
greatest QB in the history of the Universe. Period. Alltime winningest QB
in Pro Football History. Won more fourth quarter and overtime
comebacks than any QB in history. Period. Only QB to take his team to
five Super Bowls - in 11 years. All-time leader in fumbles which has lead
to some criticism. Lost his first three Super Bowls only because Denver
wasn't as good as the NFC team they played. Nobody in the AFC was for 13
yrs! Won the last two Super Bowls in his last two yrs. Having a running
game for once helped. So did having Mike Shanahan as coach.

 3) Steve Tasker - ST/KR/WR/RB. Houston Oilers (half season '85) &
Buffalo Bills 12.5 yrs. The greatest coverage "gunner" in Pro
Football History. Returned 21 kickoffs for 20.5 average. Ran 21
times for 130 yds., 6.5 avg. on "counter-treys". Caught 61
passes for 9 TDs, avg'd 23 yds. per catch. Returned 45 punts for a 10.5
yd.avg. Played one year of basketball at Northwestern. Could dunk
a basketball with both hands despite being 5'9", 185 lbs. Great
athlete called "Kansas Mercury". 4.35 speed in 40. Could have
been the great CB of all time. Played in four Consecutive Super
Bowls with Bills ('91-'94). Marv Levy said he was smartest player he ever
       coached.

 4) Gary Zimmerman - OL. Minnesota, Denver, Los Angeles Express (USFL). 15
yrs. in the Pros. Best OLm in both leagues in his prime. Elway said he
was best who ever blocked for him. Played alongside

 "Jake (the
cajan snake) Delhomme and my beloved Carolina Panthers take on the
Dullass cowboys tonight, Sat. Jan 3rd, '04 @ 8:00p.m., EST. Be there,
aloha! In other NFL news, 67-yr.old K.C. Coach Dick Vermeil, who takes
every team he coaches to the Super Bowl, will be back for one more
season, @ least for the Chefs along with former Chargers coach Al
Saunders, his offencive coordinator, who yesterday turned down the
H.Coaching job of the Univ. of Nebraska to stay w/ K.C..

Former New Jersey Giants coach Jim Fassel remains in the running @ the
top of the list of the Washington and Arizona H. Coaching jobs. I bet he
ends up as the Cards coach. He seemed to get along with Bill Bidwell the
Cards owner when he was Offensive coordinator in '97 as he developed both
comeback kid Boomer Esiason and Kent Graham into quality Ariz. QBs right
before Jake (flake) Plummer got drafted. Fassel started out in the Pros
with the Honolulu Hawai'ans of the WFL in '74 as player (2QB)/A.Coach.
They were the 1st team to play in Aloha Stadium.

Well, Scott's buddy, Coach Steve Banditball Spurrier finally said uncle
and threw in the towel on his 5 yr.-$25 mil. contract to coach, Coach Dan
Snyder's 'Skins. He resigned from the golf course back in Fla. through
his agent last Tuesday. He won't be missed by the team. Spurrier was the
       Heisman
trophy winning QB from Florida in 1966 and a first round choice by the
San Francisco 49ers that year. He later played for the expansion Tampa
Buccaneers and finished up as #3 with Denver in '77. Old coach Ballgame
was out of his league trying to win with his USFL-style here in the 21st
century. Now if Washington can get rid of (Dr.) Pepper Rogers, Doug
Flutie will finally be the last of the USFL'r's left in
 the loop." Moose
