the past three years; Philadelphia are in their third consecutive Championship
Game; Indianapolis are in the playoffs for the fourth time in the past five
seasons The action begins at 8:00 p.m. GMT/9:00 p.m. CET on Sunday with the

PETE KUHARCHEK (South team) face off in THE VILLAGES GRIDIRON CLASSIC - an
annual all-star game featuring the leading college seniors in the United States.

(Cologne Centurions) and JACK BICKNELL (Scottish Claymores) will offer their
expertise during the game which will take place in The Villages, just outside of
Orlando, Florida. Others participating in the all-star showdown are VINCE

"Our coaches are once again honoured and excited to be coaching in the
Gridiron Classic. It is a first class production and we look forward to being

will be interesting to see who wins the re-match between last year's World Bowl
head coaches." During the week of preparation for the all-star contest,
NFLEL coaches will be responsible for all drills, practice sessions, one-on-one
matchups and skill tests, which will all take place under the watchful eye of
professional scouts.

Europe NFLEL veterans make their mark in NFL 2003!" Myk Aussie
From
Neil Reynolds Public
Relations Manager; Trio head to Pro Bowl; Kitna rewarded in Cincinnati THE 2003
NFL season will go down as one of the most exciting in recent history and
veterans of the NFL Europe League have played prominent roles each and every
weekend in stadiums across America. Three former NFLEL players heading to the
AFC-NFC Pro Bowl following outstanding performances this year are Dallas Cowboys
defensive tackle LA'ROI GLOVER (Barcelona 1997), Green Bay Packers offensive
guard MARCO RIVERA (Scotland 1997) and Kansas City Chiefs return specialist
DANTE HALL (Scotland 2001). Also receiving a prestigious honour in 2003 was
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback JON KITNA, who was named the NFL's Comeback
Player of the Year by members of the Associated Press.
Kitna, who won a World Bowl ring with the Dragons in 1997, was the only starting
quarterback in the NFL to take every snap for his team this season. Ignoring the
presence of overall first round draft pick CARSON PALMER, Kitna completed 324 of
520 passes for 3,591 yards and a career-high 26 touchdowns. The Bengals went
8-24 in their previous two seasons before Kitna sparked a turnaround, guiding
the club to an 8-8 record, which saw them remain in playoff contention until the
final weekend of the regular season. Bengals offensive coordinator BOB
BRATKOWSKI paid tribute to Kitna by saying: "Ever since he came out of
college, he's overcome the odds. Being an undrafted free agent - those guys very
rarely make it. He made it. "He went to the NFL Europe League and was the
Most Valuable Player of the World Bowl over there in 1997. He came back to the
NFL and had the persistence to stay here, learn and get better."
Here are some of the other highlights featuring NFL Europe League veterans in
the 2003 NFL season: * 232 players with NFL Europe League experience appeared on
NFL rosters during the 2003 season * a total of eight NFLEL veterans started at
quarterback during the 2003 campaign - JAKE DELHOMME (Carolina Panthers &
Amsterdam 1998/Frankfurt 1999), JAY FIEDLER (Miami Dolphins & Amsterdam
1997), TIM HASSELBECK (Washington Redskins & Berlin 2002), KELLY HOLCOMB
(Cleveland Browns & Barcelona 1996), JARIOUS JACKSON (Denver Broncos &
Barcelona 2001), BRAD JOHNSON (Tampa Bay Buccaneers & London 1995), JON
KITNA (Cincinnati Bengals & Barcelona 1997) and KURT WARNER (St. Louis Rams
& Amsterdam 1998) * TIM HASSELBECK (Berlin 2002) and JARIOUS JACKSON
(Barcelona 2001) became the 25th and 26th quarterbacks respectively to go from
the NFL Europe League to starting in the NFL * DANTE HALL (Scotland 2001) tied
an NFL record with 4 kick or punt returns for touchdowns during a single season
and was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September * JON KITNA
(Barcelona 1997) was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.
A total of 12 NFLEL veterans have won the award on 15 occasions. Kitna
previously won the award in October, 1999, as a member of the Seattle Seahawks *
The selection of LA'ROI GLOVER, MARCO RIVERA and DANTE HALL to the Pro Bowl
means a total of 14 NFLEL veterans have been selected to the all-star game in
Hawaii on 26 occasions NICK POLK, Senior Director of Football Operations for the
NFL Europe League, said: "It has been another outstanding season for NFL
Europe League players in the NFL. "Graduates of our league continue to make
an impact in the NFL in every phase of the game - offense, defense and special
teams. We are very proud of their accomplishments this season and these
performances prove the NFL Europe League continues to go from strength to
strength and is a valuable player development tool for all 32 clubs in the
NFL."
