'81 Edmonton 0 - 0 0
* It's important to note that the last four years of Tom Wilkenson's career he
split the Edmonton QB job with Warren Moon, gradually only playing in the second
quarter. Wilkenson was a Canadian born and raised in Wyoming! Moon, the supposed
American was born in B.C. Wilkenson and fellow Canadian Russ Jackson both
played in a record eight Grey Cups apiece, both winning six times, also a
record. Both are in the CFL Hall-of-Fame. To people not knowing the history of
the CFL as well as I do, most think it was Warren Moon himself that won Edmonton
those five Grey Cups in-a-row. Not so. However, this was the greatest Dynasty
team in CFL history. Probably always will be. *
Joe Thiesmann's Career CFL Playoff stats:
Passing:
'71 Toronto 14 - 8 - 189 - 2 TDs - 1
('72 & '73 No playoffs for Toronto)
Rushing:
'71 Toronto 6 -26- 4.3 avg. 1 TD

Talked to my good mate Bernell and his wife back in beautiful Regina,
Saskatchewan on Sunday. The big scuttlebutt is that ex-CFL greats Miles Gorrell
and Bill (The Under- taker) Baker are the most of a new group (that includes
some other CFL'r's) who want to buy the struggling Calgary Stamps. I'm due to go
huntin' {Larry Csonka-style} with Bill, Bernell and Coach of Sask. 'D', Hall-of-Famer
Ron Estay when I get to Saskatchewan this summer! Can't Wait! Also: Got a VHS
copy of the new Rock flick, "Rundown" this week. The former Calgary Stamp '95
practice squad'r turned wrestler has
got another winner! Lot of X-FL(?!) clips in beginning and there is a little
Footy to the theme. Oh, yea...forgot. Not all people know that the 'Rock's real
name is Duane Johnson. "Can you smell what the Rock is cookin'?" Moose

A big Hello especially to Jackie Jacobs in British Columbia, the daughter of the
one and only 'Indian' Jack Jacobs, a great CFL/NFL player from the late 1940s
and into the 1950's. I was doing research in an NFL Encyclopedia, I wished the
CFL would put one out! and found out that Jack was not only a great QB but he
lead the entire NFL in punting with a 43.8 average in 1947, as a rookie in the
NFL!" Moose

CFL Update:
Congrats to one of my all-time favorite players, Lui Passaglia, who
has been inducted into the CFL Hall-of-Fame along with four other
men recently. I just got an e-mail from my pals in the front office
of the B.C. Lions, so pardon me for not having read it all the way.
Myk and I interviewed Lui for the MykAussie/USA Friends of the CFL
website on Sept. 27th of 2002. What a great guy. My Baltimore
Stallion mates didn't even hold a grudge v. Loo for kicking the FG
that beat us in VAN. back in the '94 Grey Cup. They gave him a
retirement clock for his 25-yr CFL career in Calgary before the '00
Grey Cup. Way to go Lui!" Moose

"Ex Patriot, Galaxy Bishop signs a two year contact"
Moose
Ex-Toronto, Frankfurt and New England QB Mike Bishop signed a two-yr
contract with the Grand Rapid Rampage today. Bishop will have a clause that
allows him to (re-)sign with a CFL team once the Ar.FL's 18th season concludes,
the end of May. Bishop was ACTUALLY AHEAD of Tom Brady on the Patriots three seasons
ago, but fell behind Marcus Brady on the Argos depth chart last season. Expected to
push hard for Bishop once the Ar.FL season is over are CFL teams: Calgary and
Hamilton, both of whom need a #2 QB.
Also, as bad as Grand Rapids is (so far) {Demetrious
Maxie, my ex-Stallion mate quit then two weeks ago...} Any CFL team will be able
to get him as soon as the Ar.FL's 18th season is over with. Arena Bowl XVIII is
June 27th {hey Dave Baker, what's with these two weeks before the Arena Bowl the
last couple years?!}. Expect Hamilton or Calgary to come after him hard once
Arenaball is done for '04...That's my pick. "Moose

By: MYKwebWORLD Research
Director Moose Salzer
The recently completed eight player trade between Ottawa and Calgary proves
what I have been saying about Eric Tillman and the Renegades for quite some
time now. They are not so much trying to get to or win the Grey Cup at
Landsdown Park / Frank Clair Stadium this year ('04), as trying to slash payroll
to stay afloat. I predicted when Dan Crowley, Mark Nohra, Darren Davis and a
host of DBs were axed off the active roster last season that the 'Gades were
in financial trouble and I have been proven right. Despite my expertise in
these matters, I was slammed by two individuals on Total-CFL and that is why
I no longer will post on it. Now my analysis: Calgary killed Ottawa in acquiring
John Grace, Seth Dittman, Fred Parry. Romaro Miller isn't much and was a
throw in who'll have trouble making the team (a la the 'import' rule, et, al).
Ottawa got the rights to two inactive former good CIS players and an above
average (and good guy) DB in Anthony Malbrough (+ Kai Ellis (B-), Sandro
Scortino (A--) and Jerry Johnson (C+). Ottawa will save a lot of the boss'
money (like in '03) but it won't get them closer to the 92nd Grey Cup
which is to be held on Nov. 21st, '04 @ Frank Clair Stadium. People gave
too much credit three years ago to ex-Commish Lysko and two years ago
to his predecessor, Wright for getting Ottawa back in the League. It is
akin to locking the barn AFTER the horse has escaped. Prediction: Ottawa
4-14-0, Calgary 9-9-0. Matt Coach Dunnigan, you should stayed with
Schultzie and Co. on TV. Neither of these teams will make the '04 playoffs
unless major moves made before June 21st." Moose Salzer
"Moose
very interesting. I think definitely think Eric Tillman is great in his position
at the Renegades but you could very well be right. Yes i agree re Stampeders not
making the playoffs in the Wild Wild Very Strong CFL West. Stamps have some
great players & if they stay fit will have a good team but I think they will
be behind all CFL teams in the West. Eskimo's, Lions, Riders my top 3 with
Bombers & Stamps struggling. Seems Bombers have lots of free agents &
they have lost big Mike Sellers as well. Will the Riders continue the tradition
& win the Grey Cup the year after hosting it ? Not sure about that but they
have the extra $$$ now to spend & compete with the Eskimos & the
Lions." Myk Aussie

recommends the CFL to Julie!" Myk Aussie
To
Julie, Footy Fan
Jim Druckenmiller who played here in Virginia @ Tech. was with the 49ers,
Dolphins, Memphis in the XFL (I saw him there), L.A. in the Ar.FL and went to
camp with the Colts this past yr. He didn't make the team as they had three QBs
w/ guaranteed contracts (i.e. if they cut one of those QBs they would have to
still pay them). Because Druck has 5 yrs. in NFL, he would have to make a
certain amount.
He should try to go to Ottawa or Calgary of the Canadian Football League (there
are 5 ex-CFL Qbs in the NFL now), because they both could use him. It's either
that or he will have to play Arena Pro again as they have expanded to 9 new
cities. Thanks for the e-mail. You can hear me "This week in Arena
Football" heard on Honolulu's KUMU 2 radio a.m. 1500 " Rich Salzer,

Moose's
Grey Cup report "In the match of one of the CFL's most storied
rivalries the Montreal Alouettes and Edmonton Eskimos met for the 2nd
consecutive year in the battle for Canadian Football supremacy. The Eskimos
winning, 34-22. The first quarter started out all Eskimos as the Esks QB Ricky
Ray, the former Arena Leaguer came out smoking leading Edmonton a 14-0 lead. But
Anthony Calvillo lead the Als back with two TDs, one after he fumbled the ball
picked it up throwing to the Als fastest WR, Sylvan Girard in the back of the
end zone to tie it up. With 3 minutes left in the first half, the Esks took a
21-14 lead when Ray fired a 35-yard TD to Jason Tucker, who became the game's
Best Player. The Alouettes scored a TD to tie the game at the half. In the
second half, the Esks all but shut down Montreal's outstanding Offence except
for a Matt Kellett single. It would be the Als only point of the second
half.
The
Esks defence was lead by my Virginia mate Kelvin Kinney, who Myk Aussie and I
talked to in Edmonton back in Sept. Kinney, former University of Hawai'i DB
Robert Grant and fellow Arena player in CFL offseason, Al Reece wore out the Als
great 'O' line with swim moves and bull rushes. Kelvin's sack on 3rd down with
several minutes left set up Edmonton's last score to make the final 34-22. Way
to go to a great team and organization the Edmonton Eskimos. And to Ricky Ray,
good luck kid, wherever you go from here.
