Saskatchewan 40, Edmonton 16
B.C. 32, Montreal 29
Calgary 29, Toronto 11 (UPSET!)

CFL Notes - The magic number for Saskatchewan was 25, but they beat Edmonton by 24. No matter. They have a bye week next week but must win game 18 to capture Second in the West. It looks like Winnipeg will need outside help to make the playoffs but I still think they can catch Hamilton and crossover.

The tie that Toronto and Hamilton had on Labour Day confuses thing, don't it? How about Saskatchewan that most CFL observers gave up on as dead? Now five wins in a row. I still say, Saskatchewan v. Montreal in the Grey Cup!

The hottest team in the CFL now is the red-scorching hot Roughriders of Regina! Four consecutive wins. No doubt about it, The Riders are going all the way to Ottawa for the 92nd Grey Cup to meet the semi-hot Montreal Alouettes! Ottawa will fire it's entire staff and G.M. Eric (The Red) Tillman when the season is over, my inside sources in the Nation's Capitol tell me. So long kindly 'ole "Honolulu" Joe Paopao and Co. The curse of Dan Crowley, eh. I told everybody who had ears before the year began, Kerry Joseph is no QB, he's a 'Slash'. 

Make that a 'Slush', like Kordell (The invincible man) Stewart, who's now fourth-string at QB on the Raven's roster. Probably means Taman at Winnipeg will try to bring him to camp to team with equally ineffective Tee Martin. I thought a 'tee' was something you play golf with? Ex-CFL'r's getting signed in the free-agent frenzy currently going on in the Ar.FL are: ex-Winnipeg OL Bene Isibi, Georgia Force and former Las Vegas Posse'r RB/KR Tamarick Vanover. Message to the desperate Ottawa RoughRenegades; signing Virginian LB Reggie Givens, ex-of the Baltimore Stallions and Toronto Argonauts, it's too late and in vain, your season is over.

CFL Notes - So Montreal didn't find the Roughriders such an easy mark this past weekend, eh? It won't get any easier for the Ottawa RoughRenegades this weekend. Yep Randy Brule, like I said, 6-12-0! Winnipeg has cooled off just a bit, but I still figure they will beat the Tiger-Cats this weekend. I am still staying with my pick of Saskatchewan v. Montreal in the Grey Cup, Nov. 21st, in Ottawa. A good friend of mine, Rick Barden, a former Ottawa CB from the '80's, who I used to work with at Cox Communications just got back from Ottawa where he took his 11 yr. old son for a visit to old Frank Clair Stadium. I see him now and again when I work out at Bally's fitness, where Scott and I met seven yrs. ago. You can stick Ottawa, Calgary and maybe Hamilton with a fork. I don't think either of the three will make the playoffs!
