picks!" Myk Aussie
Week
18 Scores:
Edmonton
40, Winnipeg 34
Montreal 52, Ottawa 21
B.C. 19, Calgary 17
Toronto 38, Hamilton 31
CFL
Week 18 Notes - Edmonton
has set a new CFL record for making the playoffs for
33 consecutive years. They've made the CFL playoffs 51
of the last 54 years. Anthony Calvillo passed for 407 yards in
Montreal's win over hapless Ottawa.
Duncan
O'Mahoney, Dave Dickenson and Casey Printers helped lead B.C. from
behind over Calgary, who finally got injured QB Khari Jones back in the lineup
permanently. Ottawa has to win next week to finish with the 6-12-0 mark
I said they would. Expect Eric Tillman, Joe Paopao and Kerry Joseph to get
their walking papers in a week or two. The Curse of Dan Crowley. Serves them
right!
Week
19 picks:
Saskatchewan
OVER B.C. (regardless of who plays pivot for Lions)
Ottawa OVER Hamilton (only picking this way since I said, like a
Prophet, Randy Brule, that the RoughRenegades would go 6-12-0 this
season)
Winnipeg OVER Calgary (Since Winnipeg took 'passer-poor' Stamps in the
deal four weeks ago. Don't worry Jackie Jacobs, it'll work for Bombers
next year.)
Toronto OVER all of sudden semi-cold Alouettes, who look like they
are running out of steam."

famous names here!" Myk Aussie
Moose
recently headed to Regina to report on the CFL for MYKwebWORLD and Total-CFL.com.
The Sask Riders are Moose's favorite CFL team. From the pictures below it
appears some very well known CFL footy guys looked after our American CFL
friend.

Career Retrospective on Amazing
Doug Flutie!" Moose
Fifty
years ago the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Chicago Cardinals, 49-21. Eagle's
QB Adrian Burk threw 7 TD passes. But that wasn't the biggest story
of that game. The alltime record for most points scored by an Eagle, which
still stands today was that of the late Bobby Watson. Watson caught 3
TD passes that day and kicked all seven XPs! For a total of 25 points. New
Eagle WR Terrell Owens has caught
two TD passes in a game three times this
season but has a ways to go to break Watson's record. In 1929 the Cardinals
Ernie Nevers, the first player to have his number retired by the NFL's
oldest franchise, scored 40 points that season in a game; 6 TDs and 4
XPs. The irony of that game is that Nevers missed two of the XPs and the
hardluck Cardinals lost, 41-40. Nevers scored every point for Chicago that
game, but his two missed XPs cost the 'birds the game by one point.
He
was probably tired. In those days of Pro Football in both Canada and the
US, unless you got hurt, you played all sixty minutes; on Offence /Defence &
Special Teams. [Since Burk's 7 TD tosses that day in 1954, there
have been many Pro QBs who have thrown 7 TDs in a game like the
(1960's) AFL George Blanda who threw a then Pro record 36 TDs for
the Houston Oilers. In the CFL in a '94 game, Winnipeg's Matt Dunigan threw
8 TDs and passed for 715 yards. And in the Arena Football League QBs
as diverse as Kurt Warner to Aaron Garica have thrown 10 or 11 TDs in
a game since Dunigan's feat in the CFL. Additional: In the CFL in '95 Matt
Dunigan threw 799 passes in a season (!) and the Barracudas hold the
alltime Pro record for 814 attempts on a season! Man, Jack Pardee and
Jeff Ritledge and Co. had that Offence humming that year. Oh, Roy Shivers
was General Manager that season, too! More to come, always!
Before
I forget, congratulations to Jim Wolf, the Sask. fan who just had
a new son, named Hunter Wolf. Sounds like
a great future Arena Football League FB/LB to me!
