Tampa Bay Storm have resigned DLm/TE Kelvin Kinney! Argo's
QB Michael Bishop re-signed with the Grand
Rapids Rampage!"
Moose
Kelvin
from here at Virginia
State, for the 2005 season. He
will report to the Edmonton Eskimos three days
later. The last four seasons
Kinney has played in at least two Pro Football Leagues
in each of those calendar years.
Kinney missed eight games for the CFL's Eskimos
last season after and teammate
Donny Brady had motorcycle wrecks.
Also;
three days
after helping the Toronto Argonauts win the 92nd CFL Championship, QB Michael
Bishop re-signed with the Grand Rapids Rampage. Terms of the contract
were not released, but it is
believed to be around one-yr. for $75,000-$80,000.
He will no doubt be a free
agent and resign with the Argos in the Ar.FL's offseason."

Nov 10 04 "Arena Football Update! Hawaiian
Islanders Call a Final Timeout!" Moose
By:
Rich Salzer, Super Bowl Wayne Lavelle
and Alema Keali'i
The
Arena 2 League had given all twenty six of it's teams until Oct. 26th
to fax to the Chicago offices a form stating they were "in" for
the 2005 season. It extended that for 5 more days for the Hawai'ian
Islanders. The Islanders today announced they are permanently
suspending operations. The 2005 season would have
been their fourth season.
In 2002 the Islanders went 5-11-0.
In 2003 they won the National Conference Western Division
with an 10-6-0 regular season mark, which they extended to 11-7-0 after falling
to eventual Af2 Champ Tulsa in the Semi-Final
round of the Arena2 / ArenaCup playoffs. This year, the
Islanders slipped to 8-8-0 with an unbelievable amount of injuries
to key players like Darnell Arceneaux (LB/DB/WR/QB-H) FB/LB
Keiki Misipeka, who played last year for 3/4s of the CFL season
with Edmonton, C/NG Andy Ramos and TE/DE Morrie Roe
just to name a few. Still Cal Lee's troups soldiered on, with
Shawn Keali'i Withy-Allen helping the team win three of it's
final five games to close with a .500 record. For their career in
Af2 the Islanders were: 24-26-0, including the playoff games in
2003.
Withy-Allen and WR/DB Gabe Amey will go to camp with
the Nashville Kats of the Arena League. Last year, Olin
Rosehill, OL/DL & Josh "Zeus" White made Arena League teams.
Rosehill, like Withy-Allen, played for June Jones at the University
of Hawai'i. White is a High School graduate of Farrington High in Honolulu.
Thanks for the memories, kanakas! No
Ka Oi for the Islanders, who should have had a better fate!" Moose

Oct 21 04 "Arena Football Update: Really big News RE: ArenaBowl XIX /
Signings and Pro Indoor in the great White North" Moose
ArenaBowl
XIX, the world Championship of Indoor Pro Football will have a new home
next year. The first eighteen years of the Arena League's history, the game
has been played after an NHL Stanley Cup style 'lowest-seed at highest- seed
style playoffs format. No longer true next year. The Arena League Board of
Governors elected to move the game to a neutral site next season for the first
time; Good 'ole Las Vegas, Gamblin' Nevada. Yee-Haw! The game is being played
at the home of the Las Vegas Gladiators, the Thomas and Mack Centre next
Sunday, June 12th, 2005. I am already there! I will cover the game for MYKwebTV.
Sports. Also: in recent Arena Free agent signings, Ken Saroka's Philadelphia
Soul got their man! They singed ex-Barcelona/Atlanta/Cleveland NFL
& L.A. Avenger Arena League pivot, Tony (The Graz) Graziani to a two yr.,
priority free agent contract. Ron
Jaworski's Soul means business to be in
Arena-Bowl
XIX next summer after limping through their inaugural season with holder/perennial
backup QB Nick Browder and ancient Todd Hammel, who dates all the way
back to the N.Y. Knights of '92 (with Doug Pederson!). Former Indiana QB Adrian
McPherson got chosen in the dispersal draft by the Nashvegas Kats, back
from a four season hiatus. They
are owned (god help 'em!) by Bud Adams of the
NFL Tits (titans - notice the lower case lettering!). In our first coverage
story this issue, is the Indoor
Pro North American Indoor Football League, a Canadian
creation, that is looking for a few good men (players) for it's inagural
2005 season kickoff, next Feb. Pls. read carefully below. And don't forget
to tell the NAIFL you heard about
it here on MykWebT.V. Sports. Mahalo!

Tues,
Oct 12 04 "Off season Arena footy report!"
Moose
"Starting
back on September 16th, the Arena2 League Int'l player free agent signings/applications
started and so far there are a record 9 Aussies and 17 Japanese
singed up to go to the Training camps of the 25 (for now) Af2 teams.
Training camp will start March 17th, 2005 and the sixth Reg. season of
Af2 will kick off on the weekend 0f April 1-2, 2005. Canadian players will
have to register by Oct 30th, if
they are not on the rosters of any CFL clubs
lists (i.e., Injured Reserve,
Practice squads, Inactive lists, Territorial lists,
et, al.). The reason for
this slight change, which used to be uniform with the NFL
E deal is that the proposed NAIFL, a new hybrid Indoor Football/Hockey League
is still saying they will kick off on Feb. 5th. Myk and I will believe
it when we see it. The
NAIFL will have unique Canadian Indoor Football rules
like, 3 - 20 minute periods, no rebound Nets, et, al.
This is because, as
I explained it on Total-CFL awhile back, the Arena Football League game system
is copywrited and patented in the United States, Australia, Japan, U.K.,
Europe and Mexico against infringement of it's rules. That Jim Foster, who
invented Arenaball is/was a genius! Also, New Orleans Arena team has signed
one of the best QBs in Arena League history, Andy Kelly to a two year
contract. Kelly has 34,000 yards between two season with the Rhein Fire
in the NFL 'AAA's in Europe and 11 more seasons in the Ar.FL. Kelly has
an alltime Pro Football record 638 career TDs! Un-friggin' real! The new Coach
of the Af2 Quad City Steamwheelers, a real powerhouse in the Af2 is
former Norfolk Nighthawk Coach Rick Frazier, who finished last season going
1-5 for the Grand Rapids Rampage as Interim H.Coach. Frazier has previously
coached the Toronto Phantoms and the Milwaukee Mustangs of
the Arena League. A good choice. Frazier has plenty experience Coaching in Ar.FL
and Af2. I bet every Coach in the League would like to trade places
with Hawai'i Islander's Coach Call Lee though. I know I would!" Moose

Arena Footy update!" Myk Aussie
"The
Arena Football League put out there fall offseason e-Newsletter yesterday
and there is good news and bad news. Plus we have a local kid who's hanging
up the cleats after 7 seasons in
Ar.FL/Af2. First the good News. Larry Miller
and his associates who own
the Utah Jazz have purchased an Arena Football League
team that should chase those
inmitators from the NIFL out of town, the Utah Warriors.
Next the League announced that Tennesee Titans owner, Bud Adams Nashville
Kats will begin play again next year. Washington's Arena Football entry
which is Co-Owned by Fran Drasner
and Dan Snyder of the Redskins will also join
the League's teams, probably in '06. On slate to be Coach of the new Utah
Arena League team is former Arizona Rattler Coach Danny White, who was
G.M./Coach of the Rattler's for their first 13 seasons. White recently had
his contract expire by mutual
consent by the current owners of Rattler's, the
Colangelo's after losing his third
consecutive ArenaBowl Championship loss.
The
bad news alluded to earlier is that the League is killing off three weak
sisters in three NFL cities:
Carolina Cobras, the Detroit Fury and the Indiana
Firebirds. Also in jeopardy in Af2
are the Wichita Stealth, 8-8-0 and who missed
the Arena Cup playoffs for the
first time in 4 seasons in the League, this past
spring. The Stealth were dead last
in the Af2 with only 3,600+ fans per game.
Their offices are closed (I called
last week), too. I wanted to order some merchandise! They could be back next
year if they get a new owner by Dec., the Ar.FL
tells me. Also calling it a career
is former Wilson High School and Norfolk St.
QB, Aaron Sparrow. Sparrow
played for the Iowa Barnstormers, Nashville Kats, Buffalo
Destroyers and Carolina in the
Ar.FL and Norfolk, Augusta and Wichita in Af2.

Football Update By: Rich

The
Florida Firecats defeated the Peoria Pirates, 39-26 Friday night at TECO Arena
in Everblades Florida, before
6,417 fans. The Arena's capacity is 6,500. The big
star of the game, in a
losing cause, was Chicago Bear's LB brother, Casey Urlacher,
who was released by the
Bears late last Aug. ('03). Urlacher also failed to catch
on with the Chicago Rush
Arena League team and was the last cut in Feb. '04. Florida
became the first American Conference team to win the Arena Cup since the
Arena
League started the 'AAA' developmental League, in 2000. The M.V.P of Arena
Cup V was Florida WR/KR Boris
'Magic Benton. Urlacher came within one yard of
an Arena Cup record, with
23 yards rushing, 7.5. tackles and 1 TD. Coach
John Fourcade, an ex-NFL/CFL/USFL/Ar.FL pivot, one his first Arena Cup in
three tries. Last year he coached
Macon, who lost at Tulsa. In '02 Fourcade's
Fire- cats lost at Peoria,
Ill. to the Pirates. A quick recap of the five Arena Cups:
