and AHL Update! Hitchcock a hit at Columbus! Look out for the Blue Jackets!"
Moose Salzer
Division Leaders in the NHL now: East: Atlantic - New York Rangers, Northeast
Buffalo, Southeast - Surprising Atlanta!
In the Western Conference: Central - Nashville, who I saw play three years ago,
Northwest - Edmonton, Pacific- Anaheim (Just) Ducks. It didn't take long for new
Coach Ken Hitchcock to get his centre pucking Offence in gear in the land of the
late Brittany Cecil, Columbus. The Blue Jackets bombed Detroit the other night,
4-3 (once leading 3-0) on Versus (the former OLN Network, co-owned by Larry
Csonka) two nights ago. It was good to see the gentlemanly Mark Messier on the
Versus
Intermission show with Eric Lindblom, Marty Jones and Bill Clement, who had a
bit role in Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, which show where the Kings,
Clippers, et, al play, the Staples Centre. Messier's clam approach to
deciphering the action between periods contrasts well to the sucky coverage in
NBC with it's signing of motor mouthed Brett "I used to be Canadian, but now I
play for the US Olympic Team" Hull. They should get Bobby Hull, who even more
controversial since NBC;s ratings for Football and Hockey are in the toilet! It
more than serves NBC right for letting the Arena Football League slip through
it's fingers. They could have monopolized both Indoor and Outdoor Pro Football
then. But now there stuck with Al Michaels, Brett Hull and (gasp!) Boob Costas
or is it 'Acoster'." Moose

Joe Nieuwendyk - Good Luck with the rest of your life!" Michele DeWalt
Canadian Forward Joe Nieuwendyk, of the Florida Panthers retired four days ago
after 19+ seasons in the NHL. Nieuwendyk had back problems and could not keep up
with the faster younger NHL players. Nieuwendyk won three Stanley Cups and
helped Team Canada capture the Olympic Gold Metals in 2002, in Salt Lake City
where MYKwebTV's Rich Salzer just came back from. Nieuwendyk played for five NHL
teams and finishes his NHL career with 564 goals, 562 assists, 1,126 points in
1,257 games." Michele DeWalt
From Richard Salzer "Two weeks ago, Scott Baxter and I had the pleasure of
watching our beloved AHL Norfolk Admirals beat the Philadelphia Phantoms, who
won the Calder Cup last year in the AHL, 7-5, before 5,766 fans at Norfolk Scope
Arena, the former home also of the Af2 Norfolk Nighthawks. When I got home,
after Scott and I saw a good NCAA footy game at Norfolk location of A.J. Gator's
bar/restaurant, I had a message from Gabe Morency but when I called the Team 990
in Montreal they gave me the sad news (for them!) that he no longer worked
there. I have enjoyed going on with Gabe the last five years and now he is on
either Sirius Radio or another Satellite station. I am sure to be back on with
him soon covering the NCAA or Ar.FL." Moose

Atlanta. Western Conference: Detroit, Minnesota, Anaheim (Just) Ducks.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton beat the
Norfolk Admirals for the 11th straight time going back to Feb. 14th, 2004. The
Penguins moved into a first place tie with the Admirals in their Division in the
American Hockey League ('AAA'). The Admirals (8-1-1-1, 18 pts) and
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (9-2, 18 pts., overall) are in fourth place overall in the
League.
The Admirals continue their six-game road swing this week with a home game
Friday, Nov. 10th here @ Scope Arena v. Providence, Rhode Island. In the NHL:
Injured Coyotes Captain Shane Doan, Katriana LeMay's husband, returned to Wayne
Gretzky's Lineup and helped them win v. the Kings @ the Staples Centre late
Saturday night. The slumping Canucks, who started the year very well fell to the
Avalanche when Andrew Burnette scored two goals, including the tiebreaker late
Saturday night. Look for the Florida Panthers to try to move Troublemaking Todd
Betuzzi by the February All-star game which will be played in Dallas. The
American Hockey League now has an all-time high 27 teams in it." Moose

Update: Canadian Super Bowl QB Mark Rypien to sing both Anthems tonight and drop
opening puck for Admirals!
The Calgary Kangaroo's Aussie footy team are now playing Hockey! Refer to Oct 4
report below!" Moose Salzer & Michele DeWalt
The 2006-07 Admirals line up this way: 14 Canadian players, 6 Americans (ties an
alltime record with last years Admirals) and 4 Imports from Europe. A.J. Baines,
the Admirals alltime leader in games played and points scored, is playing for
Hamilton this year. Hamilton is expected to get an Af2 team in 2008.
American Hockey League Admirals alltime records:
2005 43-29-0- 4-4
2004 43-30-0- 1-6
2003 35-36-4- 5-0
2002 37-26-4- 5-0
2001 36-26-13-5-0
[Key = first number is wins, losses, ties, OT losses, last is SO losses
At the Admirals- Springfield Falcons game tonight at the Norfolk Scope Arena,
former 16-yr NFL QB Mark Rypien, the only Canadian Super Bowl winning QB will
sing both the Canadian and US Anthems. Rypien, born in Calgary, moved with his
family to Red Deer Alberta (home of the Alberta Sports Hall-of-Fame, which Myk
and I have been to). By age age eight Rypien was a big star in both Hockey and
Football. By age nine his family moved to Washington state in the US and Rypien,
drafted in the fourth round by Washington (NFL) in 1986 eventually attended
Washington University, just as Warren Moon had ten years earlier. Rypien spent
time with Atlanta, Indianapolis, Seattle, Cleveland (2x), Philadelphia and Saint
Louis in his NFL career. He was a member of two Washington Super Bowl teams, and
is 1-0 in 1991. Rypien is part owner of the Springfield Falcons. Norfolk will be
the closest Rypien will get to Washington, D.C. so we expect to see many Redskin
fans there tonight." Moose

"NHL Preview
2006-07 Season!" Salzer and Michele DeWalt
Eastern Conference - Divisional Rankings, Picks and Synopsis:
Atlantic Division:
1) *New York Rangers (M.D.) - Will win the Division with Rotation and
Balance...
2) *New York Islanders (R.S.) - Will Challenge the Rangers but barely lose...
3) *Philadelphia (R.S.) - What always happens when Ken Hitchcock gets a new
contract? Get ready for the thaw, Flyers...
4) Pittsburgh (M.D.) - Sid Crosby and Co. move up one notch in the Division...
5) New Jersey ( R.S.) - Backsliding but still have Marty Brodeur!...........
Northeast Division:
1) *Ottawa (M.D.) - No longer 'the other Canadian team' in the Northeast. Expect
they or Carolina to be in Stanley Cup from East Conference.
2) *Buffalo (R.S.) - Lindy Ruff proved again last year to be one of the very
best Coaches in the League. They will gnaw at Ottawa and Carolina again in
'06-'07.
3) Boston (M.D.) - The Joe Thornton 3 for 1 deal will now kick in but they're
still a year away from liftoff!
4) Montreal (R.S.) - Poor Scott Baxter's Les Habs - A dismal year ahead it
seems.
5) Toronto (R.S.) - No more Pat Quinn(to blame for everything?).Is that good
or bad?
Southeast Division:
1) *Carolina (M.D.& R.S.) - They don't call them 'Defending Stanley Cup Champs'
for nothing. But they better watch for Ottawa, which could make it an all
Canadian Stanley Cup for the first time since Calgary won back in 1989!
2) *Tampa Bay (M.D.) - Three years removed from Stanley Cup Champs but still
will make a run with great Coaching...
3) *Washington (R.S.) - Olie the Goalie and Ovechkin won't quite be enough, but
they WILL make the playoffs before they hybernate for the season...
4) Atlanta (M.D.) - Everyone is on to them now. Nowhere to hide, baby...
5) Florida (R.S.) - What does it say when Mike Keenon RESIGNS?
Western Conference -
Central Division:
1) *Nashville (R.S. & M.D.) - Music City Madmen overtake Hockeytown USA boys...
2) *Detroit (M.D.) - Upset in the Playoffs last year by plucky Edmonton, they
fell short of a rematch of four years back with Carolina. We would have loved
that!
3) Columbus (R.S.) - Curse of BC Gone - The youngest team in the League is for
real!
4) Chicago (M.D.) - Norfolk(AHL)'s Trent Yawney gets another try. He'll need
it.
5) Saint Louis (R.S.) - Is the Firesale over yet? Can they trade them to AHL
for Hamilton?
Northwest Division:
1) *Calgary (R.S.) - Should have been in their first Stanley Cup last year
after Detroit and Dallas flamed out! Plucky Edmonton snuck in front of them
though.
2) *Edmonton (M.D.) - Hey, I thought you guys were rebuilding last year! The
Glass slipper drops this year as the Flames move ahead...
3) Minnesota (M.D.) - Plays in the best Arena in the League, they are moving
up...
4) Vancouver (R.S.) - Will the REAL Canucks please stand up? Will the REAL
Todd Bertuzzi PLEASE stand up?! Sinking fast...Where's Mike Keenon?! Help!
5) Colorado (M.D.) - Will drop this year. Goaltending can only help so
much!!!!!!
Pacific Division:
1) *Dallas (M.D.) - Mr. Automatic, Mike Modano, will lead them deep in May
(June?)
2) *San Jose (R.S.) - Joe Thornton will take charge this year. No slackers
allowed!
3) *Phoenix (R.S.) - With the crisis behind 'Em, Gretzky's Coyotes will
howl!!!!!!!!!!!
4) Los Angeles (R.S.) - Will they get Korolev from the L.A. Clippers? It'd
help...
5) Anaheim (R.S. & M.D.) - The 'Just Ducks' this year, are thorugh. No more
sequels!
(* = playoff teams)
Playoff Mix: Predicted East Eight: Carolina, Ottawa, New York Rangers &
Islanders, Washington, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, Buffalo;
West Eight: Calgary, Edmonton, Nashville, Detroit, Dallas, Phoenix, San Jose,

as he has been "Ducking" from the truth as to why he wanted out of Edmonton! Who got a Chris Prongher last night? He shoots he scores! Chris
Pronger the start Olier defenseman who scheduled a Press Conference for this
Tuesday in regards to his and "apparently" his wife's desire to leave Edmonton
and thus he leaves the Oilers has Ducked it very, very well! Funny MYKwebTV from Edmonton!" Myk Aussie
Chris Pronger was on
Monday
traded to the
Donald and Daffy Disney Anaheim Mighty Ducks or whatever their name is! Chris
has definitely been a "Duck" lately as he has been Ducking from the truth as to
why he wanted out of Edmonton. He Ducked around the questions again in a
Press Conference call on Monday afternoon. The rumors were wild last week. I
suppose we will now not find out the real reason why he wanted out of Edmonton.
From Sat July 1 06
I love Chris Pronger's
name! If you are a Aussie it is a great name.
I have a new saying
especially for the Hockey fans out there. "I got a Chris Prongher last night!".
Seriously this is a Aussie saying but now with a great CDN twist. At the South
Gawler Lions Den on a Sunday morning after a Aussie Rules Footy game and a Big
Saturday night chasing Aussie Bird Babes and having lots of beers we would go
for a light run and get ice on our injuries. So many of the guys would be in the
trainers rooms and someone would come walking in looking very happy saying "I
Pronged Her last night! Yep I got a root!" Or someone would say "Myk Aussie did
you Prong that hottie last night that I saw you dancing with?".
Chris Pronger was a absolute
star this season for the Oilers, being one of the very best players in the
playoffs. Within 2-3 days of the Oilers loosing game 7 of the Stanley Cup it
was confirmed by Chris's agent that he wants out of Edmonton next season. He
signed a Huge 4 year contract at the start of the 05-06 season. This has shocked
the Oilers fans. The Oilers fans feel as though the name of their fine city has
been disrespected.
The Calgary sports radio shows and the CDN Sports TV shows have been reporting
that it is for personal reasons that Chris wants out and further more it has
been said it is his wife that wants out of Edmonton. I find this a little
strange, I thought his wife would be happy in Edmonton, with the huge contract
Chris signed and one of the Biggest Shopping Malls in the World, his wife should
go to West Edmonton Mall every day and shop with his millions of $$$$.
Apparently not!
As I said on QR77 Sports Talk with Mark Sports Stephen and Jockstrap Wilson on
Wednesday night I think the Oilers bosses should make Chris play next season.
Don't trade him, he signed the 4 year deal.
I like Edmonton a lot, I have had many great trips there from Calgary with Cwoc
Fanny Anny Thraxy to cover the CFL and I always get looked after very well by
the Edmonton Eskimo's bosses. Some of my very best CFL Player interviews come
from the Eskimo's rooms. Grey cup 2002 week in Edmonton was a amazing time and
each Grey Cup many of my best mates are Eskimo fans.
I have met many great Cwocodiles in
Edmonton including Oiler Babe with her great Oiler tattoo on her fanny/back.
Along with as seen above the
beautiful Cwoc Michelle from Edmonton. Michelle sent me this great pic awhile
ago. Check out me stickering

I think every single guy at the
Spirit of Edmonton Party would have liked to met and chatted with Michelle on
this wild night". Michelle is a great beautiful lady.
I know Michelle's sister Melissa
Wright is a radio DJ in Edmonton with K Rock and when I was up there listening
to the radio driving around I thought she had the most amazing sexy radio voice
ever. I'm sure Melissa has
had some calls recently to her radio show from upset Oiler fans.
He shoots he scores! Yes on the field he did score very well. Chris
scored many great goals this year for the Oilers Banging the Puck in real Hard
from his defensive position!
Seeing Chris Pronger is a married man he is not allowed to "shoot and score"
with the Edmonton Cwoc Hotties or as my new saying goes "Get a Chris Prongher"!
Or did he as per some of the rumors over the past days from here in Alberta? I
suppose we will all find out on Tuesday.

USA NHL report! NHL Draft Update From Vancouver, BC! Americans dominate the
Picks by Michele DeWalt!" Myk Aussie
"It was a great day for USA Hockey at the recent NHL Draft and Entry Drafts
just concluded last weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia!" Michele DeWalt
Minnesota natives Erik Johnson (Saint Louis), Pete Mueller (Gretzky's Coyotes)
and Kyle Okposo (New York Islanders) were among the first five players chosen.
In the past only four other American players have been taken in the first round
of the NHL Draft: Brian Lawton 1983, Mike Modano 1988, Bryan Bernard 1995, and
Rick DiPietro 2000.
Ten Americans were selected in the first round of the two NHL Drafts, Saturday
night, a new record. The last two Stanley Cups have also been won by American
Coaches. In other Draft Picks: The Chicago Blackhawks, one of the original
six NHL teams picked Canadian Jon Toews, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, the home of
the 94th Grey Cup this year. Toews will probably be optioned to our AHL Norfolk
Admirals in the 2006-07 season, which schedule will be out by the end of the '06
summer, team officials say. Boston selected Wisconsin native Phil Kessel in the
first round. Kessel scored 18 goals and 51 points as a freshman at the
University of Minnesota last year.
In AHL News, former Jack Riley Cup winning goalie ('91 & '92), Mark Bernard,
also from Winnipeg will be back with the AHL Admirals as Assistant G.M. next
season backing up Al MacIssac. The Admirals look forward to playing the Manitoba
Moose, Iowa and many other clubs they have never played before, next season.
Stay Tuned!" Michele DeWalt

"NHL Report. Plucky Edmonton Oilers finally fold! First Pro Sports Championship
for the State of North Carolina!" Moose Salzer
The Carolina Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup Championship, after
having lost in their first appearance back in '02, to the Detroit Red Wings. The
Red Wings (Hockey town USA) were the first of three straight victims for the
hard nosed Oilers who gave their great fans plenty to be proud of this year, God
love 'Em! I really believe that despite the Hurricanes impressive season, that
saw them win the Stanley Cup after finishing second in the NHL East, by
two points to Ottawa, I would think that Fernando Pisani, one of a record nine
Edmonton players to play in this Stanley Cup (three, including Carolina rookie
goalie Cam Ward, play for the Hurricanes.), should have gotten the prestigious
Conn Smyth award, for best in Playoffs and Stanley Cup. Pisani had an
unbelievable run scoring an unconscionable 14 goals in eight playoff games!
"Moose, Cam Ward the Hurricanes 22 year
old goalie, a Canadian from Sherwood Park Edmonton was unreal and I think he
deserved the Conn Smyth Award" Myk
For the second consecutive Stanley Cup-NHL year (out of three, remember the
lockout!), a Southern-based American team won the Stanley Cup with an American
Coach! Also: The Hurricanes had more Canadian and American players on their team
than any other club in the NHL! Hats off to the Oilers as they are about a year
ahead of schedule. I still say this was the best Stanley Cup Series I ever saw
in about 25 years of watching the NHL Finals! My top Five: (1) 2006 - Carolina
v. Edmonton, (2) 2004 - Tampa Bay OVER Calgary in seven, (3) 2001 - Colorado

ale chatting with my Total-CFL and Aussie Rules Footy Calgary Kangaroo's mates
at the Biggest Tailgate in the CFL and watching the Oilers win. Great stuff!
Lets hope the Oilers can bring the Cup back to Canada. It has been way to long!
From Thurs June 15, The Oilers won last night 4-3 in
Overtime scoring on a short handed goal ie the Oilers a player short due to a
penalty. This is great news for Oilers fans and the majority of Hockey fans in
Canada rooting for the Oilers. Game 6 goes back to Edmonton Saturday night. I
actually won't be watching Saturday night on TV as I will be at the CFL opening
game in Calgary as the CFL 05 Grey Cup Champions the Edmonton Eskimos come to
take on the Calgary Stampeders. This is horrid programming with the NHL season
going late into June. No doubt the crowd at the CFL game will be effected by
this especially if it looks like raining and the marginal CFL fans stay at home
to watch the Stanley Cup.
I know that most if not all of the Sports radio guys in Calgary will be at the
game as they are despising the Oilers going so far. Refer to my May 26th report
below on the Calgary radio guys. Mark Stephen from QR77 will be calling the CFL
game and also hoping the Oilers loose. A CFL Grey Cup in 05 in Edmonton and a

Here's Moose's Pro USA report!
NHL Update:
Scrappy Edmonton Oilers stave off sweep!" Moose Salzer
The Carolina Hurricanes
could take a commanding lead in the Stanley Cup Championship tonight as they
lead 2-1 after losing a close one on a somewhat controversial goal by Ryan Smyth
(who was probably too far in the crease), with 2:34 to go in the third game of
the Stanley Cup Finals Saturday night in Edmonton, Alberta.
Edmonton will have to score more than two goals to beat the Hurricanes in
Edmonton to win tonight to level the Series count. In The American Hockey League
Finals, the Hershey Bears (Pittsburgh Pens) are tied with the Calgary Stamps
farm club the Milwaukee (not Norfolk) Admirals, 2-2. The next few days the games
will be in: Tues., Jun. @ Hershey Chocolate town, PA., Thur., Jun. 15th @

Gotta check all the moving parts
under the hood of the car as the '97 Mustang will be rollin' down I-95, et, al
toward my first Stanley Cup game, as the Hurricanes look to take a commanding
lead in the 90th NHL Stanley Cup Championship Series. The 'Canes, formerly of
Hartford, CT, in the old WHA (in fact this is the first Stanley Cup Series in
which too former WHA teams have faced each other; both clubs started in 1979 in
that "floaters League" as Don 'Grapes' Cherry has dubbed it.
The plucky, but overmatched Oilers almost pulled a rabbit out of a hat, getting
out to a 3-0 lead on the 'Canes, which just caused US Olympic/Hurricane Coach
Pete Laviolette to pull out more stops late in the game (3 goals in the fourth
iced it for Carolina). Bad break with Oilers top Goalie out for the rest of the
Series! But they have good depth and will rally around Ty. There is just is no
quit in them Oilers, who I really do admire. Just think, three straight road
wins in the Stanely Cup playoffs. Four would just be too much. My hat is off to

It'll be a matter of days (or even hours) and the Lindy Ruff lead Buffalo Sabres
finally capitulate to the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference. It may
end tonight. First, congratulations to the Edmonton Overacheivers, er, ah,
Oilers, who are really a year away from being REAL Stanley Cup Contenders, but
will face their biggest test next round for the Holy Grail of Hockey. I
sincerely wish those young upstarts the best of luck, but they will go down in
Flames (not Calgary ones either, Craig MacTavish!) to the storms brewing off the
coast of North Carolina! To say Edmonton, who's pulled off three straight

Oilers won 2-1 last night and
amazingly are off the the Stanley Cup. This is great as Canada for the 2nd NHL
season in a row has a team in the Stanley Cup after the Calgary Flames very
nearly won in 2004. There was no Stanley Cup awarded in 05 due to the stupid

Oilers will play the winner of the Buffalo Sabres vs Carolina Hurricanes series

Edmonton Oilers defeated the Donald and Daffy Disney Anaheim Mighty Ducks or

Way to go Oilers. Many Calgarians are supporting the Oilers, the diehard
HARDCore Calgary Flames Fans are not though. The funniest guys are some of the
Sports radio guys that won't barrack for the Oilers no matter what. Mark Stephen
host of QR77's Sportstalk my equal favorite Calgary radio guy is one of these guys. I laugh all the time
listening as he is so pissed off the Flames have been knocked out and the Oilers
are still in. His co-host Jockstrap Wilson a good golfer I believe is also very
anti Oilers.
Bruce Dowbiggin from the Fan 960 radio and the Calgary Herald is definitely anti
Oilers as well and would love to see them loose. Rob Kerr also from the Fan 960
is of particular interest as I believe Rob is a translated Edmonton radio guy
that has been in Calgary the past 2-3 years. I met Rob with Jason Gregor a
Edmonton radio guy at the CJFL Calgary Colts game a couple of years back. Rob's
NHL and CFL coverage is excellent.
Mike Richards on the Fan 590 in the morning and the Best of in the afternoon
when I get to hear him is very very funny and he has huge ratings. He has many
stars call him up and they talk lots of comedy. Sometimes I think its Mike
playing tricks making out he is the star caller but when the sexy golfer
Michelle Wie Wie "I have a wet spot in my pants" called him before attending a
Flames games several weeks ago, Mike was a star to me from that point on. He
also has Gabriel Morency my Montreal radio champ mate on his show talking about
the Montreal Canadians. I believe Mike is from "Smelly" Toronto Leaf Argo land. Go Oilers!

Moose and I reported extensively on the 1st Round of the Playoffs (refer below)
but I like many Canadian's have now "again" lost a lot of interest in Canada's
#1 game Ice Hockey as only 2 of the 8 teams left are from Canada. It drives me
nuts at times this game. Many/most Canadians love NHL Hockey and many Americans
don't give a rats fanny about it. The new Salary Cap. Well, well, well. Didn't
help much again for the "not rich" teams mainly in Canada that don't have some
rich USA owner owning them just for his image. So now we have the NHL playoffs
on NBC in the USA and not rating as good as a cheerleading event according to a
radio guy, I think it was Howard Bloom that said that. What I'm saying here is
most of Canada loves hockey, many parts of the USA don't care at all and we have
6 of the 8 teams left from the USA.
It sucks again, the 8 out of 9th year that I have been living here that I lost a
lot of interest early in the NHL Playoffs as it looks like Ottawa Senators and
Edmonton Oilers are both in trouble. Maybe a Higher Power will intervene
starting tonight in Edmonton and help the Canadian teams advance to the next
round. For me and Canadian sports fans I hope this happens. If not it will be

The sad thing is nearly all of the

Calgary's collapse in game 7!
The first round in done in the East and is fast finishing in the Western
Conference as well. I stayed up to watch the Calgary Flames v. Darn Disney
Ducks game last night, which was on CBC but was shown here, surprisingly, LIVE
on 'OLN', the Indoor Life network (as Scott Baxter aply named it). I was
stunned as the great crowd in Myk Aussie's (current) hometown was out around
the Penworth SaddleDome and the place inside was packed to the gills! And the
Flames went DOWN in Flames, 3-0! I was very angry as I turned in for bed at
11:40, EST and another of my fearless NHL picks went the way of the Buffalo,
as some Native friends might say (is it too late to give Anaheim back to the
Indians?! Actually as bad as some haolies have messed it up, I don't think
they'd want it anymore!) Jeff Younger, a Calgary Cowboy mate of mine and I
thought the Flames had that Series cinched a week ago. How can a Canadian
team, playing at home in game seven, with Jarome Iginla in the lineup score
exactly ZERO points!? Jeff and I discussed several weeks ago that what
obviously did the Flames in as Stanley Cup runner-ups in '04 to a red-hot
Tampa Lightning team was a lack of offence around Iginla.
The Flames averaged a weak
two.two goals per game in seven Stanley Cup games in '04, before the lockout.
And I certainly don't blame their fine goalie Miikki Kiprosoff. Why did Sutter
pull him with 1:40 still on the clock? You don't pull your goalie until under
one minute. It was still Two-zero at the time. They still could have scored
two to take it in overtime! The Flames have nobody but themselves to blame for
this mess as they lead 2-1 and 3-2 in the Series.
When you lead 3-2, you have to
put the other team away - somehow. Back to '04 - The Flames had Tampa down,
3-2 and lost with 30 seconds in OT to the Lightning in game six in Calgary in
'04. So naturally in game seven in Tampa, the Lightning won. I-YI-YI-YI-YI. I
would have thought that the Flames would have done better than any of the
Canadian teams. Now Ottawa and Edmonton are the survivors.
I have to take my hat off to Oilerbabe's Edmonton Oilers (the name of my
favorite team from Houston back until '97 in the NFL). Their upset of Detroit
in the first round is one of the greatest in playoff history, as far as I am
concerned. But congrates also to my Hurricanes of Carolina for not panicking
after going down 0-2 to Morency's Les Habs. They came back to win in six and
should beat New Jersey in six in round two." Moose

The Oilers what a great win last night as they were down 0-2 and then scored 4
goals to win 4-3. The last goal by Ales Hemsky was magnificent, one of the best
I've seen. Watching the Oilers win and then watching the Flames vs Ducks game
last night on CBC was one of the best nights I've ever had watching NHL Hockey
the past 8 years. However the night ended badly with the Ducks defeating the
Flames.
The Ducks did deserve the win though. I respect Jarome Iginla immensely, his
skill, his great leadership, his fighting but loosing the best player for 5
minutes for fighting the lefty Francois Beauchemin
early in the game was not very smart plus Jarome actually lost the fight as
well. Let's hope Jarome stays out of the penalty box on Wednesday night and
scores the goals needed in this do or die game 7. At 10pm on Wednesday night the
famous Red Mile in Calgary there will be 15-20,000 people partying or it will be
deserted. Flames to win in 7, I believe and I hope!

Canucks fire Coach: The Vancouver Canucks fired Head Coach Marc Crawford, the
franchise career leader with 246 wins, after the '06 team failed to make the
playoffs, the first year back from the lockout. Crawford, 45, had been
Canuck's Coach since replacing the always replacable Mike Keenan on Jan. 24th,
1999. Crawford had a 246-197-70 record. The C's had lost in the playoffs three
times before reaching the Stanley Cup Series under Crawford, twice losing in
seven at home in Vancouver. Possible replacements include Wayne Gretzky, if he
doesn't come back to Phoenix

Predators 3-0. All of these series are now 1-1.

The great race to the Stanley Cup starts tonight and one of the Big games is
here in Calgary as the Donald and Daffy Disney Anaheim Mighty Ducks, what ever
their name is are in Calgary to take on the awesome Calgary Flames. With the
home ice advantage and the Flame burning all around the Saddledome I am tipping
the Flames to win. The burnt Duck feathers is going to stick the place out, a
horrid smell is burnt duck feathers but I hope it happen.
This will also Stink at about 11pm Calgary time after the Flames win. The fact
that there will be no Red Mile on 17th Ave for the Flames fans to gather, sing,
laugh, chat up Cwoc babes, see Cwoc babe titties being flashed and a few beers
on the quiet on the street. This will not happen on the famous Red Mile as the
Calgary Cops have been out in force as of last Thursday night to stop any
gathering with road blockages and many cops. It was reported earlier this week
that over the past 8 days approximately 90 tickets have been issued by the cops
with another 400+ warnings. One Flames fan was wild in Wednesday's Calgary
Herald as he was given a ticket earlier this week for honking his motorcycle
horn on 17th Ave after a Flames win. Tickets were also given out for Jay Walking
and basically any kind of noisy and hanging out on the street type disturbance.
It's kind of sad that the Red Mile will not happen like it did in the famous 04
Flames playoff run. Where will the Flames fans gather after a win tonight? Not
sure on that one.
This is especially for newcomers
to MYKwebWORLD. Oiler Babe pictured above used to write unreal hockey
reports for me and she was also a star one day on Edmonton radio after the
Oilers did some crazy traded at the trade deadline. She mentioned MYKwebTV and
mykaussie.com on Edmonton radio and then next day I hade a huge increase in
visitors, similar to around Super Bowl time.
I bet Cwoc Oiler Babe and here
magnificent Edmonton Oiler's tattoo on her fanny/back is getting all excited
about right now as the Oilers make the NHL playoffs, just. She's a great lady.
Where is Oiler Babe now? I think she is now in Red Deer and and stitched up with
a new fella. Red Deer is 1/2 way between Calgary and Edmonton, a college town of
I think around 100,000. I heard once from a Calgary Cwoc that the women in Red
Deer were all Red and Raw around the edges. College town, get it. Here's Oiler Babes magnificent tattoo.

"NHL First Round Picks and
Analysis of Myks' Analysis of my Comments, Vis-A-Vis the NHL Playoff Teams"
Moose Salzer
Eastern Conference:
Carolina Hurricanes OVER Montreal Canadians in five.
New York Rangers OVER New Jer(k)sey Devil's, in six.
Buffalo Sabres OVER Philadelphia in five.
Defending Champ's Tampa Bay Lightening OVER (wounded) Ottawa Senators in seven
(+ OT).
Western Conference:
Detroit Red Wings OVER Edmonton Oilers in five.
Dallas Stars OVER Colorado Avalanche in six.
Nashvegas Predators OVER San Jose Sharks in five.
Calgary Flames OVER Anaheim Mighty Angel-Ducks in six.
My comments back to Myk re reports below:
(1) You're correct about Nashville's top Goalie (T.Vokoun) being out. But dig:
Their backup has the second highest number of wins in the 'Bigs' (19) to
Buffalo's Miller (20). Nashville will be just fine in the run for Lord
Stanley's Cup, Thank You very little.
(2) Like in '04, poor Cowtown Calgary doens't have quite enough scoring AROUND
Iginla to win the Stanley Cup. They are a very physical, smart and good team,
but a year away, Myk.
(3) Yes, Theodore did FALL DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS and injure his knee, the
clutz! Morency, Spencer and I had a good laugh over that on Sportsrage and we
fielded a few calls about that, too.
(4) The Stars, as much as I do like Modano and them, won't be able to by
Detroit and Nashville [see also Calgary above. pls.].
(5) Your Insanely funny remark about overrated Owens and
Dallas deserves to be posted as much as my factual statement about the 20
OTHER WRs in Pro Football that are better players than he is. But we'll save
that for the Pro Footy section, eh, Myk?" Moose
From Wed April 19th. Western Conference: Gone are
Vancouver's Canucks, eh?" Rich 'Moose' Salzer
Detroit Red Wings - Likely
Stanley Cup sparring partner with Carolina like four years ago or Buffalo.
Simply the Best in the West. No other team matches up better with powerhouse
teams from East. It'll be a MAJOR upset if they don't go to the Stanley Cup.
Only likely competition will come from deep Divisional opponent Nashville.
Barry Trotz, take a bow!
"What about the Calgary
Flames? Redwings were in a weak Division! Oilers may push them in Rd 1.
Powerhouse teams in the East? West is probably now stronger!" Myk
Nashville Predators - Sorry,
Calgary, but the two-headed Central Division Monster will get you eventually
in the '06 playoffs and there will be no Canadian teams in the Stanley Cup.
Not this year. Maybe TWO in '07. Nashville is the fastest team in the League
and can easily get past Calgary's Defenders. But will somebody finish them
off first. A lot will depend on seeding.
"Unfortunate for the
Predators that they lost their #1 goalie
Tomas Vokoun. This will cost
them I would say." Myk Aussie
Calgary Flames - A very strong
team, I may say, the best of the West as far as Canadian teams go, but still
a little more scoring wouldn't hurt. They are peaking at the right time.
Unlike two years ago when they did a bad job of trying to close out a better
Tampa team that they had on the ropes (shades of the Sacramento Kings in the
NBA playoffs v. Myk's Lakers three years ago), they just didn't have enough
scoring around and beside Iginla. No more. But if Miikka Kiprusoff gets
cold, what then? Do they even have a backup goalie. They don't match up that
well v. Nashville or Detroit.
"Yes if Miikka
Kiprusoff the best goalie in the NHL gets injured we are in trouble! But
that probably also goes for any of the teams in the playoffs if their #1
goalie goes down as goaltending can win a Stanley Cup. Kiipa will be
sensational.
Dion Phaneuf the Rookie in
defense is amazing, enjoy watching this guy play. Watch for Iginla to lead
the Flames to the Stanley Cup. The Mighty Ducks, Ducks, Anaheim Ducks,
Donald and Daffy Ducks what is their correct name? Donald and Daffy's mob
seem to be changing their name as many times as I change me underpants!" Myk
Colorado Avalanche- The most
overrated club in the playoffs, bar none! Aside from has been goalies
playing over their heads, this team is a little shy in depth in several
critical areas. Gone in Sixty seconds, as the movie title said, in the first
round.
"Seems they are hoping ex Montreal CDN's Champ goalie Jose Theodore can
improve enough from 05-06 bad form and injury troubles! Hmmm I'd say they
are in a bit of trouble as Jose has been average in only a few games since
his "stupid" injury. Didn't he fall down some steps in Montreal or something
Crazy like that. Who knows what really happened as it seems the former star
has been in trouble a fair bit the past 2-3 years. Champ skipper Joe Sakic
could rally the guys though! The Avalanche are my favorite US team though
seeing I'm a Bronco!" Myk Aussie
Dallas Stars - Don't look now,
but the greatest American player of all-time, Mike Modano's squad looks to
be the best South Stars squad he's played on since the 1999 Champ team that
best Buffalo in six. Depth everywhere and good goaltending. I'm sticking my
neck out here, but they may still be a year away. Look out in '07!
"I think the Stars will
be the Flames main opposition in the West! Moose maybe your fav NFL WR
Terrell Owens (Ah, Ah) can go in and give the Dallas "Cowboy" Stars some
good playoff advise? Remember he did Star in Super Bowl XXXIX for the Eagles
after being out for many weeks with a ruined ankle so they should get him in
the rooms for a motivational chat, what do you think? Mates Club is funny
this week as Moose goes off about Terrell Owens not being wanted by 31 NFL
teams or any CFL or Arena Teams after I said he was the best WR in the NFL.

reports, lots of Mates Club TV and Sexy pic's" Myk
Edmonton Oilers - City of
Champions will have a better shot at repeating in the Grey Cup rather than
getting a real shot at Lord Stanley's Cup. Like Colorado, another first
round kill. Sorry Krystal Reid aka 'Oiler Babe and the other great garlic
city fans.
"Oilers have good
scoring potential. If their new goalie Dwayne Roloson acquired at the trade
deadline from the Minnesota Wild plays at a elevated level they may defeat
the Red Wings. Where is Oiler Babe now? Red Deer I think. If the Oilers
defeat the Red Wings in Rd 1 I'd definitely like to interview Oiler Babe as
she knows her hockey and then film her Oiler Tattoo on her Fanny/Back
getting all hot and excitable. Now that would make good Mates Club TV." Myk
San Jose Sharks and Anaheim
Mighty Ducks. Stuck in the same deal. Perennial contenders who just don't
have enough to make a run - yet. In '07 or '08, watch out. Thornton deal way
too costly from Sharks. The Saber Cats have better chance of winning another
ArenaBowl! And the darn Disney Ducks are simply overmatched." Moose
"The Joe Thornton deal
too costly? How can you say that! The Calgary radio guys say that Joe
Thornton has been possibility the best player this year in the NHL.
Disney Ducks there's another name to add to the list. They have been a hot
team of late but I firmly believe the Flames can defeat them in 4 or 5! It
will be on Big time Friday night here in Calgary after the fights started on
Monday night in Anaheim when these two teams knew they would be playing each
other in Rd 1. Lets just hope the Flames play tough and smart as too many
penalties can ruin a team." Myk
From Tues, April 18. NHL Playoff Preview Eastern Conference- Team
by Team!" Rich 'Moose' Salzer and Scott Baxter
NHL Playoff Teams and chances of
getting to Stanley Cup:
Carolina Hurricanes: Prospects very good.
Even without Erik Cole, who should be back soon to provide Defense, et, al. If
the second line continues to play well, or even picks it up, this team will be
hard to stop! Getting Mark Recci and Doug Weight (Fire Sale from Saint Louis)
adds much more depth. Joy in 'Hurricane Nation'! Predicted Finish: First
Stanley Cup appearance in four years.
Ottawa Senators. Big Strong
Tough and somewhat shaky when you get to the second and fourth lines. Scoring
off the bench could be the ONLY Achilles heal. Do not match up that well v.
Carolina - with Erik Cole in 'Canes lineup, especially. Chara and others can
out physical and out size most in NHL but not out hustle 'Canes.
"It appears they have goaltending worries with Champ Dominik Hasek still not ready after
sustaining a groin injury at the Winter Olympics. They have great scoring
power though and a good defense" Myk
New York Rangers. Yea - all the
hype about Messier's Retirement and Sather's savvy won't mean squat unless
they can get by Buffalo or deep Philly squad could cut their playoffs short.
Must get favorable seeding in early rounds, then could surprise. Messier's
jersey retirement might not be only celebration this season.
"Jaromir
Jaqr is back to being one of the
very best NHL players again. I used to think he was unreal when I 1st got to
Canada but then after he cried in the papers about his model girlfriend
dumping him I didn't like him there for awhile. What a guy gets paid between
$8-10 million US a year and I'm meant to feel sorry for him that he got dumped
by a babe. Don't think so. He is a great goal scorer though." Myk
New Jersey Devils - Color them gone
right now. A weak schedule got them many wins and staying mostly healthy all
season helped get them in Lord Stanley's dance, but they do not match up well
v. ANY East team, of other seven in playoffs. A first round road kill, more
than likely.
"Gabriel
Morency said on Calgary radio he sees the Devils making the Stanley Cup." Myk
Buffalo Sabres- Here is the real dark
horse to go all the way. Let's see, they get rid of shatan and they prosper...Hhmmmm.
Lindy Ruff should be Coach of the Year right now! A deep, samrt, talented team
with scoring AND DEFENCE. Wow! LOOK out Carolina and Ottawa.
Philadelphia Flyers- Nice start to the
season and pretty good finish, but no killer trade around the all-star game,
and not much third or fourth line help of late. Goaltending will help and
Defense is second best in EAST, but no way can they get by Buffalo, Ottawa or
Carolina.
The last two spots in East are
up for grabs between Two-Year (not-two time) Defending Champ Tampa Bay (who
may have made the ultimate mistake by cutting Dave Anderchuck after week 14.
Depth and Goaltending are not what they were two years ago when they ambushed
Calgary in club's first Stanley Cup win. They won't get past round two either
way. Montreal, Les Habs, either as seventh or eighth seed won't get by round
two at most. Simply too much flux with Goalie situation and front office being
questioned by Media and fans, under heavy scrutiny. Last, AND LEAST, the ALSO
surprising Atlanta Thrashers. A Buffalo Sabres in the making, but not this
year. Toronto - GONE! But fans in 'the Centre of the Universe', or 51st STATE
as some call them can always root for the Marlies of the American Hockey
League playoffs [see below]..
"The Montreal Canadians and
the Tampa Bay Lightening make it in the 7th and 8th spots. Good luck especially to
the Montreal Canadians and the Ottawa Senators. I got to root for the CDN
teams! Maple Leafs sucked Big time. What's with that? Too old and too slow and
too rich!" Myk
Moose's Best of 2006 NHL
Picks:
Coach of the Year:
Lindy Ruff, Buffalo Sabres. Best job yet for seventh year Coach. Even with
Miroslav, the team did better on both Offence and Defense. Coaches one of
the few teams absolutely nobody wants to play in NHL playoffs this year.
Some call his methods dull. Not me!
M.V.P. - Mike Modano, Dallas
South Stars. Best job yet. Their best season since winning the Staleny Cup
over Lindy Ruff's Sabres back in 1999. Best American player ever. Naturally
from perennial Frozen Four finalist, Univ. of Minn. Honorable Mention: Rod
Brind'Amour, Carolina Hurricanes.
"Jaromir
Jaqr, Joe Thornton and Miikka
Kiprusoff are the tips from the QR77 Calgary radio guys, Mark Stephen and
Jockstrap Wilson." Myk
Rookie of the Year - Sid
Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins. Got to play on his favorite team growing up and
with his idol, Mario Lemeuix. Edges out (barely) Al Ovechkin from the Caps.

April 15, 06 "Happy Easter, a very special time of the year! Canucks fans with
Huge Hurting Heads! Go Flames!" Myk Aussie
This below is from
Mates Club this week but I wanted to add it here as well but "Reading
discretion" is advised below re what one rabbit says. Is Arse a swear word?
I'm not sure on that.

"Hi Guys and Cool Women, welcome to me Mates Club. 1,000's of me Sports mates
love it! Guys should be about 12-14, Cool Women must be 16! I don't want your

I'm sure a few peoples heads were
hurting Friday morning after going out and partying celebrating Easter on
Thursday night. Easter Thursday night was always a great night to go out in
Aussie.
It was a huge night here in Calgary, the pubs and clubs jammed packed because of
Easter Thursday night along with a Big 2-0 NHL Calgary Flames win over the
Colorado Avalanche. I had a great night starting at Bob the Fish's sports bar
and then spending most of the night at one of my favorite places in Calgary the
Metropolitan Grill.
Unfortunately the Calgary Cops are going to patrol the Red Mile this year and
after reading the reports in the paper last week it is true. There were many
police out in force on Thursday night to deter the Flames crowds from gathering
on the now famous Red Mile, 17th Ave downtown Calgary. Many sports fans in the
USA and every sports fan in Canada remembers all the mainly young Calgary Cwoc's
flashing their titties as the Flames made the amazing run to the Stanley Cup in
04.
Canucks fans with Huge Hurting
Heads!
I bet that there were many people
in Vancouver with Hurting heads also Friday morning as Thursday night the NHL
Vancouver Canucks amazingly were eliminated from the playoffs. Wow, not good but
somewhat expected as they have been playing terrible of late. The expensive 1st
line of Markus Naslund, Todd "King Hit" Bertuzzi and Brendan Morrison
were terrible for most if not all of the year.
Even though I was hoping all
Canadian teams made the playoffs I am now not to fussed that the Canucks my
"former" #1 team missed the playoffs. Several reason as mentioned in past
columns below but I have liked the Flames for a couple of years now. I will
always be a CFL BC Lions #1 fan but and after seeing the way many Canucks fans
and media reacted to the disgraceful "pre meditated" King Hit that Todd Bertuzzi
laid on Colorado Avalanche's Steve Moore I could not support the team anymore.
Hey I play Aussie Rules Footy a very tough game with fights but to "King Hit"
someone from behind in Aussie Footy is one of the worst things ever and is not
tolerated at all and Todd's hit was pre meditated as well.
Read below re past mentions of Todd's pre mediated King Hit on Steve Moore in
which broke/fractured his neck but to continue.......
Forgiveness is important in life
especially if you believe in Easter. "But" the way a large % of Canucks fans
forgave Todd Bertuzzi way to soon was I believe a disgrace! Not only did they
forgive him "many" cheered him on. To many Canuck fans thought it was as if
Steve Moore was the one that did something wrong not Todd Bertuzzi. Dave Pratt
from the Team 1040 radio in Vancouver explained this very well on Calgary radio
several months ago. To all the great Canuck fans I am not directing this at you.
Also as many of you know I am a Huge CFL fan and the BC Lions are my #1 team. It
was great to see better crowds last year at Pammy's BC Place. One reason was the
Lions had a great team but also the NHL was on strike and a few 1,000 Canucks
fans decided to come and support the Lions which was great. I often would often
hear guys impressing their hot Cwoc babes that they bought to the footy "Yeh I
used to play football at school. This is fun isn't it seeing the Canucks aren't
playing" or similar, get the drift. So now there are more hot babes at BC Place
(which is always a good thing) with their guys that are now watching the BC
Lions.
But what about the many Canucks fans that have bagged the CFL and the Lions to
my face! I have got into quite a few arguments with Canucks fans and also walked
away from load mouths to avoid a possible fight over the past 8 years that bag
the Lions and the CFL! Above is a another reason for dumping the Canucks as my
#1 team! Another thing I don't like is a 2005 acquisition the Canucks made to
their front office ... ooops I better go to Mates Club here to avoid
trouble.....Click here
or your existing Mates Club link from past Mates Club emails.
And I now also like living back
here in Calgary which includes watching the Flames stars including three of my
favorite NHL players, Jarome Iginla, Mikka Kiprusoff and now the brilliant Dion
Phaneuf. Wow, Dion Phaneuf a great defenseman in his 1st NHL year.
I also like listening to the great
Sports radio here, Mark Stephens and Jockstrap Wilson on QR77 are very good and
the Fan is very good as well. It's not as good as Gabriel Morency's SportsRage
Team 990 Montreal but Calgary sports radio is way better than Vancouver Sports
radio.
I believe the Flames are a
Big chance in the Playoffs! Buy the way it takes a lot for me to swap sports
teams and this is probably the 1st time I have done it as I feel so strong on
what has happened at the Canucks the past 2 years.
I look forward to Moose's Pro USA NHL finals report this week and any reports
that any NHL fans want to send me I'll post on here.

The Calgary Flames my favorite NHL team since the
Todd Bertuzzi and Canucks disgrace have been on Fire of late, well except for
the overtime lose Monday night to the Detroit Redwings. The Edmonton Oilers and
the Vancouver Canucks are in 7th and 8th place in the West at the moment but it
is the Canucks that are looking in a bit of trouble as the LA Kings are now a
chance for the playoffs. I really do hope all CDN teams can make the playoffs
well except for the Maple Leafs who are done and out of the running in the East.
Wow! That's a shock for the millions of Toronto people and many Leafs fans
around Canada, the "old and slow" Leafs missing the playoffs.
From Moose "Playoff Time almost
upon us NHL followers; NBC back in the saddle on games (and OLN, the Indoor
Life Network now with it's Ar.FL / NHL coverage) as well. Recent News: The
Carolina Hurricanes have been very ordinary the last couple weeks without Erik
Cole. He should be back for the playoffs. Five of the six Canadian teams
should make the NHL playoffs, but none outside of Ottawa, who can be beaten by
Carolina without THAT much trouble (when Cole comes back...) is the only one
that I expect to make much noise. Edmonton has just about run out of gas for
this year, but without all those inconsistencies and injuries in '07 - watch
out! Playoff Teams so far: Ottawa, Detroit, Carolina, Buffalo, Calgary (who
also has some holes here and there), New York Rangers, Dallas and Nashvegas (er,

The Carolina Hurricanes not only have the best record in the League but most

with Ottawa, who’s RoughRenegades are in trouble again, the Senators right
behind them. The other Division Leaders are: EAST: New York Rangers, with Mark
Messier’s jersey hanging from the rafters. In the Western Conference, the
Central Leader is the Detroit
Red Wings, who will probably be playing the Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup,
Calgary, who still doesn’t have enough Offence around Jerome Iginla, and Mark
Madano’s Dallas South Stars in the Pacific.
