 Week
Ten Ar.FL Notes: -If I were Austin Offensive Coordinator Pete Costanza, I
wouldn't get a house with a
Mortgage in Columbus, Ohio! No question 'Pistol
Pete' lost that game v. New York by having exciting young
QB-RB Matt D'Orazio try for the bomb with all of thirty
seconds left in the game. Why, Pete, Why? As
a result, a better than there record Destroyers team is now
1-7-0 and ostensibly out of the Ar.FL playoff chase. We've
seen these kinda 'panic-under-pressure' moves by Pete
before - in Af2 and the Ar.FL. Costanza has been fired
by New Jersey, Albany, Norfolk and soon Columbus. This
team has gotta have H.Coach Chris Spielman turning in
his sleep. In the off season they acquired QB Chad Salisbury
(no relation) from Chicago (he formerly started for
Toronto). But he's never been able to last the pounding of
a 14 or 16 game Ar.FL season.
 That didn't change this season,
when he went down for the year with a knee injury after
game 4 (team was 1-3). But why is Speilman allowing Costanza
to continue to play his Af2 Albany QB Ryan (Stubs)
Vena, a 6-0 (barely) 226 lb. blob?! The 6'5"
/ 230 lb., fleet footed D'Orazio (two yrs. in Af2 also
- Roanoke) came in and in two runs had 45 yards
and a TD that should have won it. But with their
Defence 'gassed', New York scored a TD to go
ahead by 1. Thirty seconds left, no reason to panic,
right. Obviously not with 'Jumpy-Pete'. Pete,
a FG could have won it! And Columbus has the best kicker in
the Arena League in Steve Videtech! The game was shown Saturday
night on Comcast (Fox Sports Net prod.). The Ar.FL back
on NBC this coming Sunday with Los Angeles v. Orlando -thank goodness, no
Philadelphia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Now,
here's Adam's Louisville Fire Report. The Fire are now owned by Will
Wohlford, the e-x13 yr. NFL OLm, who played in two Super Bowls
for the Bills.

       05 "Moose's Arena
Football Mid-Season Report!
Moose's Arena
footy week 9 tips especially for you betting guys!" Myk The
following teams are going one way or another: NEW
YORK - this is the mystery team of the whole League. They beat San Jose, the
Defending Champs one week, then lose to AUSTIN - Austin! Aaron Garcia, no
worse than the fourth best QB in
Arena League History, at least statistically, is simply
near burned out and overrated - slightly. New Coach, Weylyn Harding has done
a real good job and nobody misses screamer Todd Shell (now of woeful ARIZONA)
at all any more. Ex-Hawai'i Islander Josh 'Zeus' White is the best in League
now at his position. NEW YORK will probably get to the playoffs but no further.
AUSTIN is only 3-5-0, still MATHMATICALLY IN THE PLAYOFF RACE but
THEY ARE 3-1-0 at home, with only a loss to cross-state rival, Dallas. QB
John Fitzgerald and Coach Skip
Foster are hanging in there a playoff run would secure
their jobs - probably for next year. Defending Champ, San Jose, after a 1-3
start finally woke up is now blowingteams away like tenpins (or
duckpins, if you prefer).
If they sign Hunkie Cooper, ex-of ARIZONA, ship them the Arena- Bowl
trophy! ORLANDO'S biggest concern right now is injured DS Kenny (The Glove)
McIntire - if he comes back, healthy, I say Orlando wins the Southern Division,
which probably means a trip to Vegas to play in ArenaBowl XIX [Myk and
I hope to be there!]. They are plenty deep, but OS Travis McGriff's injury could
take just enough speed out of the
Offence to let GEORGIA slip past them.

 GEORGIA is currently in
first place in Southern Div, ahead of NEW ORLEANS (who still can't beat
ORLANDO & GEORGIA), despite a fine Coach in Mike Neu and QB Andy Kelly,
who is 0-11 lifetime in this League v. the Predators! Their win in CHICAGO
last weekend was HUGE, HUGE,
HUGE.

The CHICAGO RUSH need primary owner
Mike (Levitra) Ditka to give them a god talking too. How can a team THIS GOOD
(AND PHYSICAL) BE ONLY 2-3 at HOME?!? GEORGIA has the best Coaching
staff in the League, with Doug (Mr. number #46) Plank [NFL/USFL great]
and Offencive Coordinator / Former H.Coach Steve Thonn (pronouced Tawn)
calling all the right plays for underrated Matt (Mr. Chip-on-his-Shoulders)
Nagy.

This team is VERY SCARY right now! Los Angeles, aside from GEORGIA, has
been the most consistent team in the League. DESPITE LOSING BIG SALARY PLAYERS
like Tony (Overrated) Graziani and OS Chris (slipping) Jackson, both of
whom I like very much and who are both headed to the Ar.FL Hall-of-Fame, IN
Des Moines, Iowa...Colorado is one
or two players away from winning Owner Big John
Elway the A'Bowl. Sorry John, next year - probably...
 LAS
VEGAS is a totally different team with Clint Dolezel and Marcus Nash back
in the lineup. Without them, they would only score 30-35 points-per-game.
It'll be an interesting
Rest-of-the-season - And don't look now, but NFL ('AAA') Europe
and Af2 are kicking off soon." Moose

05 "Arena report from Scoot & Michele" Myk Aussie
  "Last
night, Friday from 01:00-01:50, Friday a.m, Arena Football expert
Rich Salzer appeared on Gabriel Morency's Sportsrage program
and discussed the upcoming CIS-CFL combine and of
  course the Ar.FL.
Rich and Gabriel made six correct Picks last
week out of 8 games, missing only the 'Battle of Texas' and
the Georgia / New York game(s). Moose
and Morency made their eight Picks for week eight with both
agreeing that NBC is making too much fuss about Philadelphia, which
has been a major market bust, with an expensive QB and a measley
2-5 record. They are tap for showing at noon Sunday, v. Tampa
Bay, who cooled ice cold Arizona down last Sunday, 59-56.

  Among
the thing Gabriel and Rich discussed were: How to built a successful,
Winning and PROFITABLE Ar.FL team, How the L.A. Avengers
are looking more and more smart every day after letting expensive
free agents like QB T. Graziani and WR-OS Chris Jackson go
via free agency last Oct. There was also a new Martha Stewart- Pete
Rose skit that cracked up the host Morency. On Saturday, 7
p.m., EST Comcast Sports Net will show the Orlando Predators, Coached
by Jay Gruden v. the Georgia Force, Coached very capably
by Doug Plank and Offencive guru, Steve Thonn (pronouced 'Tawn').
Also: The Arena Football Weekly show is now on Tuesday nights
on CSN at 8 p.m., EST."  Scott Baxter and Michele DeWalt

Moose "Arena Football Quote of the Week: "This
was a hugely important win for us..." Jay
Gruden, Orlando Predators H.Coach Oh
that Hoodoo that Jay Gruden doo so well, to
the Voodoo. Last Friday at 01:30 a.m on Gabriel Morency's Sportsrage,
I predicted that the Orlando Predators would beat a red-hot
New Orleans Ar.FL team and I was right. N.O. Coach Mike
Neu is now 0-4 v. Jay Gruden. And QB Andy Kelly, at 36 having
a career year in the League, is now 0-11 lifetime v. The Predators.
And New Orleans is now 0-3 v. the Predators. This doesn't
bode well for the Voodoo as they try to win the Southern Division.
But the Orlando v. Georgia game this weekend could be
the game of the regular season for 2005.
 Boy did Marcus Nash and
Clint Dolezel come back with avengence for the Las Vegas Gladiators!
And the Dallas Desperados continue their domination in
the state of Texas v. Austin. I really hoped Austin would play them better!
Ditto for Columbus, who got hammered by defending Champ San
Jose. WOW! How about those two 38-yr-old Arena League vets, Todd
Hammel, QB Chicago and OL-TE/DE-LB Darion Conner, a special teamer
and reserve utility man of the Tampa Bay Storm? They both play- ed
sensational yesterday in their respective games.

  Week seven Notes: Nashville
starting QB Leon Murray had arthroscopy knee surgery today
and will miss at least two weeks. The League will of course pick
up the tab. In his place the Kats have Tony Zimmerman, a very
good Af2 vet, who started four games (0-4 rec.) with a mediocore [sorry, Chris
Snyder!] (and now defunct) Indiana Firebirds team
last year. Up from the practice squad is former Hawai'i QB/ Shawn
Withy-Allen, to number 2. Also QBs: Vegas starter Clint Dolezel
is still out for three more weeks. Vegas fans better get used
to Craig Wheilhan and Rod Robinson! Vegas
owner Jim Ferraro issued a "warning" to Coach Ron James; next
time, in O.T., go for two! Shades of the Panthers in the Super Bowl in
Houston, with two 0-2 tries! Ferraro should go back to luxury box and
chill! He should have thought about the unthinkable, an injury to the
Franchise QB, when Grand Rapids stole three CFL QBs in the offseason!
Speaking of Coaching deals, DOES ANYBODY IN Philly know
ANYTHING ABOUT Arena Football? "Hello, earth to Philly..."

  Releasing
a very fine Coach like ArenaBowl Champ (as player and Coach)
Mike Trigg and replacing him with Defencive Coach James Fuller
[not the one from Chesapeake, either], is Dumb, Dumber & Dumbest
at the same time! I like James as much as any ex-Af2 Coach
out there, but the Soul(less) had two guys in front of him - Ast.H.Coach
Robert Thomas and Offencive Coordinator / O-Line Coach,
John Zinser. AND PHILLY HAS THE WORST 'D' in the Arena
League!!! Why promote the man WHO CAN'T EVEN GET THAT
TURNED around yet?!?! Trigg could come back to haunt Philly
in a big way - maybe not this year, but... And
speaking of dumb moves, how about Arizona CUTTING THE BEST
PLAYER IN LEAGUE HISTORY, Hunkie Cooper [20,500+ career
  Indoor Pro yards]? Hunkie
was very tasteful at the half of the Philly / New York game (which
[yawn..] Philly (of course) lost)). But the real problem with Arizona
is Todd Shell IS NOT Danny White at Coach and Shredrick Bonner
is finished as A REAL QB in any League! I sure hope ailing Vegas
or Orlando pick him up before the playoffs!

  Game
Balls for week six:1) Craig Wheilhan, QB, Las Vegas
 2) Mike Horacek, OS/WR/DB, New York
 3) Andy Kelly, QB, New Orleans
 4) Austin Coach Skip Foster
 5) San Jose QB Mark Grieb, who just became the first Arena League
player in history to get the Maxwell Award for Offencive Player
of a calendar year. Grieb is Maxwell Offencive player of the
year for his unbelievable season in '04 helping San Jose win their
second Championship in three seasons with 77 TDs and five
INTs. Maxwell has picked Football Player of the year awards since
  1937!!!" Moose

Arena League history! Three in Nineteen years! Coach Sparky
McEwen should drop on his knees and give prayerful thanks to God, Jesus,
Buddah, Alla and Mike Bishop for
the first win of the season for Grand Rapids and also it
may have saved his job! Though it was on the road in Coach
  Chris Speilman's hometown (Columbus), and G.R. hasn't
won a home game in almost three years [still they are
averaging about 9,500 per game], it knocks the stink off
the Rampage for now. The Predators are still the team to
beat, in my book, but we have to consider QB Andy Kelly
and Co. to be for real - for now. They still haven't played anybody
that good, 'cept for Tampa. Dallas is for real and so now
is Georgia. If anybody had told me that Austin and Tampa Bay
would be in fourth and fifth place in the Southern Division after
five games, before the year began, I'd have thought they were
nuts! Wow! The South is rising again. Yeeeehaw!

  Notes - In Studio Guests
  Lately... Two weeks ago,
New York Giants RB Tiki Barber, from here in Virginia,
was the halftime guest and discussed maybe playing three-to-four
more years in the NFL and then retiring and possibly getting
and Arena League Franchise with an investor or two. Myk are we in? Last
weekend ex-Arena great QB Tommy Maddox did his
usual good yearly appearance and I expect to see Kurt Warner there
soon too. I also expect Warner to sign with either the Cardinals or
San Francisco and START! Expect ex-University of Hawai'i stars QB
Timmy Chang and WR Chad Owens to end up in Frisco as well." Moose
