"Snow Bowl report and future News! VIP BC Lions Party was great!" Myk
Aussie
From
Total-CFL Discussion
"Snow
Bowl News And VERY IMPORTANT SNOW BOWL DEVELOPMENT!" Saskfan in Winnipeg
“Hi
everybody. The Snow Bowl was another success, raising around $250 for the
Canadian Football Fan Association's Tickets for Kids Program. The Winner of The
Snowman was Len Preston, who was the East QB at one point. The East took
advantage of an early interception by the West, quickly scoring a TD on their
first drive. The convert failed. Later, the East scored along with the convert
to take a 13-0 lead.
In
the second half, the West roared back briefly, driving for a TD but not making
the convert. The drive was aided by a great catch by yours truly, who followed
it with a Narco strut (or something like it!). The East took advantage of a big
play and scored another TD, along with a two-point convert.
Final
Score: East 21, West 6. The East breaks the 3-3 tiebreaker and takes the Snow
Bowl home. In other Snow Bowl news:
When I got home today, there was an email from Bob Young, owner of the Tiger
Cats. He was interested in supporting the Snow Bowl in a "serious"
way. I sent a reply and went to eat
dinner. Less than an hour after I sent my reply, I received a personal phone
call from Bob (he says that "Mr. Young" is his father). We discussed
ways of making the Snow Bowl a larger event, but still maintaining the previous
Snow Bowl timeframe.
He
wondered why we had such a small amount of players. The answer was simple. We
have a limited timeframe and want to make sure the people attending the one game
get the maximum enjoyment. It wouldn't be much fun if 150 showed up to play, or
we took time from other events by playing over multiple days. We could play
multiple games at once, scaling the event to the number of players. The games
would all count toward the final goal of Snow Bowl Champion, either by total
points or total wins.
One
thing I suggested is, with multiple games, we may have different Snow Bowl games
- eg a "Veteran's game" for the hardcore Snow Bowl players from
previous years. Bob was surprised to learn that a lot of the same players have
played in the Snow Bowl over the years. I don't know if this will happen, but it
would be a great thing. My personal goal in this is to still have our little
game (and our little trophy) while using other games to help raise money and
create new CFL fans (thus keeping the CFFA involved and maybe even helping them
grow!). Something like this would require expertise beyond my ability, which is
why Mr. Young and the Tiger-Cats may be helping out.
Mr.
Young understands that the goal of the game is to have fun and to raise money to
create future CFL fans. One of his goals, which dovetails with ours, is to get
more kids playing football - The Snow Bowl may help with that cause. What do you
think? I doubt that anybody considered this when we started this game in 1998! I
know I didn't!” Saskfan in Winnipeg
“Saskfan
in Winnipeg glad to hear it was a great success again. OK if no one else will
talk to you I will on something important. In
the end I did not make it to Ottawa, I was disappointed, the 1st Grey Cup I had
missed in 6 years. We had a CFL style game Sunday morning here in Van with 5 of
us, it was alot of fun but no doubt no where near as good as the Snow Bowl.
I
will 95% promise to film the Snow Bowl next year and also go "Live" to
the web with a broadcast. Where I work in Vancouver we can do it. I even had a
guy in LA upset at me that we didn't have our Clipstream Live demo page tuned
into CBC as he wanted to watch the CFL on the web but that's another story I
can't get into on here as CBC got upset in the past, rightly so in some legal
type ways.
I
believe going "Live" to the web will help promote this great event
& 1,000's can watch anywhere in the World. That's the best I can do. Bob
Young you Champ! Great to see new owners with +ve thinking especially towards
the fans. Anyone read the book "Bigger Balls" will understand.” Myk
Aussie
“Awesome
SFIW!!! That Bob Young is really something else, smart as a whip and obviously
he LOVES this game and this country. Oh yeah... and he could kick Bill Gates
arse with both hands tied behind his back! LOL 2005 will be my first Snow Bowl!!
I very much look forward to it! If
there is anything that us folks can do to help pal, just let us know! Hooah!”

'VIP
BC Lions Player & Fan Party! Lionheart, Karen Lions Fan Club & me!"
Myk Aussie
Last night walking
home I ran into 3rd Down. He reminded me of the VIP BC Lions Party at the Skybar,
I did receive a invite via email but didn't think much of it. 3rd Down said many
Lionbackers guys were going. By the way I think 3rd Down the Champ took the loss
as hard as anyone, drowning his sorrows for a "few" days. You OK
Champ?
Well
I attended & it was Fantastic. Many of the players, their wives, and or
girlfriends or both (maybe) a couple of coaches and wait for it ......Only
Lionheart, Karen the Secretary of the Lions Fan Club, her friend and me. That's
it, we were the only fans there maybe because it was a special email VIP Skybar
type invite.
Especially
seeing I missed my 1st Grey Cup in 6 years (Looser I am at times) I had great
chats with Dave Dickenson, (He says Stamps boss has not called him but I told
Dave that Stamps boss is chasing Burris, according to Nuffy as reported on
Calgary radio. Nuffy says Stamps boss according to CFL rules shouldn't be
talking to Burris yet??) Jason Clermont the "Buffy lover" and Champ
Lion, Duncan "SportsNet TV host", Antonio "Rabbit" Warren,
Bobby Singh with his Rams Super Bowl ring, Ryan Thelwell, Spergon Wynn and
several others.
I'll
write more on what I chatted to these Stars about on Total-CFL "Special
Reports" section on Saturday. Also I had some CFL Pacific cards signed by
Lions Players including Dave, Jason, Spergon that I want to giveaway on here.

“3rd
Down may have taken that Grey Cup loss hard but I am sure that there was at
least a small part of him that was thrilled for Damon Allen as he is one of
Allen's biggest fans.” Ravi Ramkissoonsingh
“Ravi
I must congratulate you Argonut and Argopunk etc on a great Argo's win. Well
deserved. You are
absolutely correct re 3rd Down being a big Damon fan. He still wears his
magnificent White Lions Damon jersey every game.
I
saw a couple of signs before the game that I did not like. One of them was the
Lions for the last 2 games wearing new what I think is "horrid" all
Black outfits. Seems some of the Stamps Black outfits thing came in. Good guys
wear White & Lions I think have the best away White & Silver outfit
ever. The Black "Devil" got to some of the Lions officials heads &
they went all Black. Why didn't they wear their great home outfits
"if" they had the choice?
And
even though I like Dave Dickenson alot as a player & a great guy to talk
footy with I was extremely disappointed not to see Casey start & then not to
see him play at all was the most disappointing thing I have seen in 6 years I
have been following/reporting on the CFL.
Ravi
also re Damon Allen. Good on him. I was also disappointed when he was booted out
of the Lions!" Myk Aussie
“Ritch's
"white" jersey isn't so white anymore. He dyed it blue when Damon got
traded. It was kinda like one of those things you do when you're drunk and
regret the next day. I happy to report the blue is almost gone. Just a bit more
tide.
The
party went fairly well, I got some sigs on my classic Jackson jersey.”

"Congratulations to the Toronto Argonauts as yesterday they won the 92nd
CFL Grey Cup upsetting the BC Lions 27-19 in front of a sold out Stadium in
Ottawa!
It
was a great game. Well done to the Argos. It was a big year out here in BC for
the Lions but they did not win the Big one.
Moose
was there but at the very last minute I could not make it, the 1st CFL Grey Cup that I have missed in 6 years. Vancouver
was very quiet yesterday as I ventured to the normal great BC Lions Sports Bars.
It
was a great CFL season. The Total-CFL Discussion has been great in past off
seasons. I hope it is again great this CFL off season." Myk Aussie.

OTTAWA
– Through the first three days of festival week, big crowds have truly been
Kickin’ it in the capital.
The
opening of Grey Cup week and the five-day festival has been a success in Ottawa,
with big crowds jammed into many of the key events from Wednesday to Friday
night. Between sell-outs at many of the evening showcases, and the largest
Ottawa indoor crowd (over 8,000) to ever watch a Great
Big Sea concert recorded on Nov. 19 inside the Civic Centre, the 2004 Kickin’
It In The Capital Grey Cup Festival has been a big success.
“People
are everywhere and the hottest thing to do in town right now is be at the Grey
Cup parties,” said Brad Watters,
president of Grey Cup 2004. “We just had huge numbers on our first three
nights and at our big events. Selling out the major ones has made us realize
just how successful the festival week has been.”
Among
the key, featured evening happenings were:
-
The
sell-out of the Rogers CFL Player Awards at the Lac Leamy Casino and Hilton
Hotel on Thursday.
-
The
heavily-attended Rockin’ In The
Capital Party presented by the Ottawa Renegades on Thursday, Nov. 18
inside the Aberdeen Pavillion.
-
The
sell-out of the Great Big Canadian
Evening at the Ottawa Congress Centre and Lansdowne
Park.
-
The
largest Ottawa
indoor crowd of all time witnessing a Great
Big Sea concert – which was presented by Molson Canadian Rocks.
Many
other events have been a part of festival week and continue to be very popular
among the thousands who have descended upon the nation’s capital for Grey Cup
2004. The list of happenings on tap is plentiful and continues all weekend,
concluding Sunday night after the championship with the post-game party. More
than 40 different events are on tap during the week-long Kickin’
It in the Capital Grey Cup Festival.
Among
the major game day highlights are musical entertainment provided by The
Tragically Hip (half-time), and Keshia
Chanté (national anthem).
CFL

Ottawa,

the West meets East match-up between the BC Lions and the Toronto Argonauts.
To accommodate the demand on Sunday, more than 20,000 seats in temporary
grandstands have been added to Frank Clair stadium, which during the regular
season has a capacity of 27,695.
"This
year’s Grey Cup celebration is already in full force in the Nation’s

Anwar
the Champ who had ben a Alouette the past 3 CFL seasons wins the CFL Defensive
Player of the year. Anwar was released from the Stampeders in 2002 and is now a

The speech that he just made was fantastic and from his very very Big
heart.
From
Fri Nov 5th below. A
very special mention to my former Stampeder mate Anwar Stewart now a Montreal
Alouettes Defensive End Champ. Anwar this week was nominated as the Eastern
Defensive Player of the year and goes up against Stampeder Linebacker John Grace
for the Big Award. Anwar just missed out on making the Stamps 2001 victorious
Grey Cup team, was "nastily" cut loose by Wally in 2002 after scoring
a huge interception for a TD in a practice game. He made the final cut then
didn't as I believe a CFLer came back from the NFL or Wally made a last minute
trade and thus Don Matthews snapped up the Big fella. Anwar was initially
extremely disappointed at being let go by the Stampeders and so he should have
been. Anwar was then a starter for the Alouettes Grey Cup team in 2002 and had a
huge 2003 season.

4
Teams are left. Tomorrow night we will know who the Grey Cup teams will be. Two
huge crowds are expected as the Riders travel to BC Place to take on the Lions
while the Argonauts again head to the Big O in Montreal to take on the Alouettes.
It
should be a great day at Pammy’s BC Place with close on 50,000 tickets already
sold. This will be the biggest crowd in many years at a CFL game in BC even
bigger than the 1999 Grey Cup. This
week on Vancouver radio the Rider players were "apparently" not
allowed to talk to the Vancouver media until Friday. Ryan Whippler Riders
Communication boss said the "media gag" came from GM Roy Shivers.
Apparently Coach Danny Barrett was upset at a report from Vancouver 2 weeks ago.
So the radio station I was listening two invites Roy Shivers on and Roy said it
did not come from him. Kinda soft and weird by the Riders. Finally they talk to
Roy about the big game and they then as the interview turned great they end the
conversation. So maybe the Riders did have a point and Vancouver radio was soft
and looking for a story. Roy was great to listen to talking about the big game
even though it was not for very long. Lions to win in what could be close game.
Last
night on a "great" radio show SportsRage The Team with Gabriel Morency
I talked about the two big games stating I think the Alouettes will win but
their cornerbacks Davis Sanchez and Kelly "sign the ball" Malveaux are
overrated. Argo's Star QB Damon Allen and the Argo's receivers may burn the
these two Alouettes, the former Stampeders. Should be a great game at the Big O
in front of a huge crowd.

The

front of what could be the Biggest crowd at Skydome in many years. Can't wait to

The
sledging has started as the Sask Roughies head to Eskimoland for the
Western playoff game. All I can say is the Riders need to win 1st before
mouthing off because I have seen them on TV get hammered many times over the
past 6 years up in Edmonton. It should be a rippa of a game but I think Riders
QB Henry Burris is a bit unsafe and could throw a few passes to the wrong
fella's, ther ones in Green and Gold. He'll no doubt get the Green and White
mixed up with the Gold in the massive noisy stadium. I wish I was there. I know
there will be lots of Total-CFLers in the crowd. Eskimos to win and Mooses Rider
Grey Cup prediction is gone. Although for the past 4-5 years the team that hosts
