report on CFL Eskimos sign vet CFL and Ar.FL-Af2 QB Khari Jones!
Bombers Total-CFLwebTV with
Khari!" Myk Aussie
From Moose "Eskimos sign
veteran QB Khari Jones, The Edmonton Eskimos announced this week they have
agreed to terms with free agent veteran quarterback Khari Jones. Jones
attended the Eskimos’ training camp last season and was released before the
regular season. He then signed with Hamilton on July 26, 2005 and dressed as
a backup for eight games, throwing for 406 yards and two touchdowns. Eskimo
Head Coach Danny Maciocia says “Khari performed well during training camp
and the pre-season last year and he understands our system. Khari still has
the competitive fire and we expect he’ll push hard for a roster spot.”
The California – Davis product started his CFL career with BC (1997-1999),
but blossomed into one of the league’s premier signal-callers following a
trade to Winnipeg in February 2000.
During five seasons with the Bombers (2000-2004), Jones set 18 club records
and was named a 2001 CFL all-star and twice earned divisional and CFLPA
all-star honours. He was also the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2001.
Khari was traded to Calgary on September 24,2004 and appeared in four games
for the Stampeders. Over his career, Jones has amassed more than 22,000
passing yards and has thrown 166 career touchdowns.

Tues, April 11, 06 "Former Sask-Edmonton-Montreal
Head Coach Joe Faragalli passes away!" Rich Salzer
Joe Faragalli, who Coached the
Edmonton Eskimos to the 1990 Grey Cup, where they lost to Trevor Kennard's
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (the last Grey Cup that Winnipeg won), has died at the
age of 77 in Rhode Island, USA.
Faragalli, who was credited
with the development of 6'0", 200lb former Alabama QB Ralph Dieter Brock and
many other CFL pivots, was an Assistant to Hugh Campbell in the CFL/USFL/NFL.
The 1990 Eskimos were QB'd back the last Pro QB to rush for more than 1,000
yards in a season (he did it twice!) and future Baltimore Stallions two-time
Grey Cup QB, Tracy Ham (now the Coach at his native Georgia Southern
University). Faragalli was born in 1929 in Philadelphia and played at his
native Villanova University and was a friend of Villanova's all-time leading
basketball Coach, Roland (Rollie) Massamino.
He leaves behind a wife, Lore,
two children and six grandchildren. Rest in Peace, Joe!" Moose

Wed, Mar 22 06 "Stamp's
Tony
Stallings and Jason Gesser Update!" Moose
Both Tony Stallings (RB) and
Jason Gesser (QB) played for the Calgary Stampeders in the ’05 season. I have
just checked both the Stampeders’ and Stallings’ own sites for some
interesting items. Stallings is the all-time leading rusher in Louisville
Cardinals NCAA footy history. Examples of famous Cardinal players include QB
Jay Gruden (also a Coaching legend) in the Ar.FL and Offensive Lineman Jerry
Crafts (five Leagues played in), who had transferred from Oklahoma. Stallings
is a three year Ar.FL/Af2 vet who I have seen play, LIVE! Stallings graduated
from Louisville in 2001. He played one game of Ar.FL action for Carolina @
Toronto (Phantoms!) in ’02. I was at that game! From ’03-early ’05 Af2
seasons, until he signed with the Stampeders of the CFL on May 24th
of last year (’05), he played for the Louisville Fire of Af2 who I saw in
ArenaCup6, in Shreveport, Aug. 27th of last year. I would venture
to say, if Stallings hadn’t left the Fire to join with Calgary, they would
have beaten Memphis in ArenaCup6!
Gesser, the former Washington
QB, is half Canadian and played High School Football for the Saint Louis
Crusaders of Honolulu and broke some of current Rhein Fire (Philadelphia Eagle
allocated) QB Tim Chang’s records! Chang is of course the former University of
Hawai’i QB who is the NCAA’s all-time leading passer in NINE categories
{Attempts, Completions, Yards, TDs [tied], INTs, percentage, yards per
quarter, half, three quarters, game, career all-time yards (combined
passing/rushing). Gesser played in five games for the Stampeders as a third or
second QB last year when injuries struck Henry Burris and Mike Souza. Gesser
signed as a free agent in the off-season with the new Utah Blaze of the Ar.FL
and will start the next two-to-three weeks since starter Joe Germaine, a
former Saint Louis Ram Super Bowl winner (3-QB), is out with injuries. It’ll
be interesting to see if the Stampeders get Gesser back after this spring’s
Arena League 20th season is over. I kinda thought he and Stallings
played well together in limited minutes for the Stamps last year.
Tigersnakeman Stallings and Gesser both have Arena Football and CFL on their
resume’s. I like that, as Myk Aussie knows. Two good guys and the best is yet
to come!" Moose

Fri, March 17, 06 "Two great CFL Legends, Jim Hunt and John
Storey have passed from this realm, one week apart and will be missed!" Moose
Hunt is absolutely the
best CFL historian of all-time. I met Jim at one of my first Grey Cups in
the early '90's, in Calgary. In 1995 the CFL filmed a Grey Cup retrospective
that ended with the Baltimore Stallions becoming the only American team THAT
WILL EVER WIN THE GREY CUP! Hunt is shown reminiscing about all the Grey
Cups that he has covered. His favorite; the 1958 Winnipeg-Hamilton classic.
John 'Red' Storey, who wore
number 64 played on three Toronto Grey Cup teams in the late '30's before a
knee injury force him into the NHL where he would become one of the best
referees of all-time. The video from the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and
Museum with Jim 'Shakey' Hunt is entitled, "A Century of Battle" and I hope
everybody will get it while they still can. Also, on the Internet is a great
collection called "100 Years of Canadian Sport" with a ton of Red Storey in
it. Like Webb Wilder says, "Pick Up On It"." Moose
