ÉRIC LAPOINTE AND DAMON DUVAL NAMED CFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Montreal, 

Nov. 23, 2005 - After he played the best game of his career in the Alouettes' win over the Toronto Argonauts in the Scotiabank East Championship last Sunday, running back Éric Lapointe was named today the CFL Offensive Player of the Week. Kicker Damon Duval was also honoured as he was named the CFL Special Teams' Player of the Week.

Lapointe carried the ball 15 times for gains of 112 yards and scored three touchdowns. He also forced a fumble on special teams and maintained a 7.5-yard rushing average. The Montrealer is 31 years old.

Duval was successful on four of five field goals from 27, 20, 48 and 40 yards out and maintained an impressive 68.1-average on kickoffs.

The Alouettes will be in Vancouver all week as they are preparing to play the Edmonton Eskimos in the 93rd Grey Cup Championship which will be held at B.C. Place on Sunday, November 27th, at 6 p.m. (Eastern time) (CBC/RDS/CJAD/CKAC).

CFL 2005 Western and Eastern Finals are this Sunday! It’s the Eskimos vs Lions at BC Place while the Alouettes travel to Toronto’s Skydome to take on the reigning Grey Cup Champs the Argo’s. I am tipping the Lions to defeat the Eskimos mainly because it is in Vancouver. I also believe with 2 solid great weeks of practice the Lions will be back to their best form. Teir defense is also back to it's best after suffering some bad injuries mid to late in the season. I am also tipping the Argo's but only just and I would be at all surprised it the Alouette's win this Eastern rivalry.

The 05 Grey Cup week starts here in Vancouver Wed/Thurs and I’m all geared up for another Big Grey Cup week of web sports casting for Total-CFLwebTV/MYKwebTV. A.C. NOMINATED FOR TOM PATE AWARD 
Star quarterback honored for his work in the community

Montreal, Nov. 16, 2005 - Alouette quarterback Anthony Calvillo has been nominated for one of the CFL's most prestigious honours, the Tom Pate Award.

Calvillo fills his off-field role in the community just as well as he does on-field as one of the CFL's best quarterbacks. He represents the Alouettes in the running for the Tom Pate Award, given annually since 1976 to the athlete who best exemplifies fair play, and contributes to his team and community equally.

Now in his 12th CFL season - the last eight with Montreal, Calvillo has established himself as a community leader. He gives large amounts of time to several organizations including Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Montreal, for which he dedicates his efforts towards its volunteers and fundraising causes. He is the honourary president of the Rita Steinberg-Goldfarb Golf Tournament, which donates all profits to the Canadian Cancer Research Society. He also works with the CN Fund.

Anthony personally created the "CJAD and A.C. Touchdown Club," through which he donates $100 for each touchdown pass he makes with CJAD matching the $100 donation. That money is then divided among the CN Fund, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the "Cuddles" program for premature babies at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He is also intimately involved in the Alouettes' "School is Cool" program, as well as "CN Adopt an Alouette."

The 2003 CFL Most Outstanding Player and 2002 and 2004 East Division MOP, Calvillo was the Alouettes' nominee for the award once again this season - the fifth in a row. After a thrilling 6,000 yards passing season in 2004, Calvillo once again dominated the CFL this year with 5,556 yards and 34 touchdowns against just 19 interceptions. He set a new team record with 437 completions on 661 attempts.

The Stampeders did the BC Lions a favor and defeated the Edmonton Eskimos 43-23 on Sunday. The Stamps will again this Sunday host the Eskimo's with the winner playing the BC Lions the following Sunday at Pammy's BC Place in the Western Final. 

From Monday, Nov 7th. The Riders defence was excellent and the Lions could have blown hosting the Western Final. Even though it says Monday above it's Sunday here in Canada but Monday Aussie time so in about 3 hrs time we will know who finishes top in the CFL West as the Eskimos are about to take on the Stampeders. If Eskimos win Lions finish 2nd and host the Stampeders next week while if the Stampeders win Lions finish top in the powerful CFL West. Riders to take on the Alouettes next week in the East.

Will Riders play Trevis Smith this week? I actually hope they do! The Trevis Smith situation continues to be a hot topic all over Canada. Will be playing next week in the Eastern Final against the Montreal Alouettes? No one is saying as yet.

From Total-CFL Discussion "The Trevis Smith situation is one of the biggest CFL stories in quite some time. What came out today is that the Riders knew that Smith was HIV-positive as far back as the fall of 2004 and that there was a police investigation going on concerning him having unprotected sex with at least one woman whom he had not informed about his HIV status." My post "All I can say was the BC Cops seem to have helped out the BC Lions! I bet someone in a official footy capacity or a cop or two that are BC Lion fans forced this story out now & not earlier????

It's a unfortunate story but it was perfect timing by BC people/police organization to upset the Riders at a very crucial time of the year.

I believe this story will be enough to put the Riders players off their game & thus Riders will loose to BC Saturday night & Lions finish top. I then now also think Alouettes will them beat them although I would like to see all West Grey Cup.

Gabriel Morency SportsRage Team 990 Montreal & I had a good chat about this last night as I went with the above concept on his show. We also talked about HIV and the Crack Ho's on the streets of Vancouver & Morency was saying how they need to clean up the streets for Olympic's.

Warning to newcomers to Vancouver!!!! Watch out fella's & bi women that come here for the Grey Cup in a few weeks. After a few too many ales some of the women on the street as nightclubs are closing late at night and you are enjoying $1.50 pizza, they are not as nice and as clean as they may 1st appear! I would suggest saying "no" to cheap sexual activity that will be offered or at least definitely "wrap up" if you do have a beer goggle problem!" Myk Aussie
